    The Raw Review - 10/08/2009

First order of business before the Raw Review begins, there will be no more ‘Rallying up’ in the WWE as they wished Ortiz all the best in his future endeavours on Saturday.

Based on what I saw of him, he had some potential, although I can’t say as I’m sorry to see him go.

    Opening Segment

    Championship Hype

Welcome to the live Raw Review! Orton’s in the ring to kick off the show.

He says he’s out here to address some rumours he has heard in the back that claim he is scared to face Cena at SummerSlam and that he bullied Jeremy Piven last week, forcing him to do his bidding.

Orton says he bullied Piven just the same as he could bully anyone in the crowd, as they are beneath him and their opinions don’t matter.

Next he addressed the match at SummerSlam, stating it as fact that he will retain the title.

Cena’s music interrupts the WWE Champ mid-flow and the #1 contender makes his way to the ring.

Cena waffles on about Orton making him angry, then says he knows Orton can relate to how anger builds inside until you’re ready to snap.

He says that’s the point he’s reached, as he’s sick of the champ walking round acting like the business owes him something and bullying people just because he can.

Cena says if Orton wants to bully someone he should try bullying him, because he’s ready to rip the champ in half.

The two square up and literally butt heads but just as things look like coming to a head, The Big Show and Chris Jericho make their way out from the back and to the ring.

As Show begins to talk about how intimidating he is, the Canadian crowd start a huge Y2J chant.

Cena asks why they are sticking their noses in and Jericho tells him it’s because they are in Canada, his country.

Jericho plays to the crowd until Cena cuts them off and reminds them he migrated to the U.S, which rouses a ‘Cena Sucks’ chant.

Jericho then explains that he’s spoken to tonight’s guest host; Sgt. Slaughter and he has booked the two of them in a match.

Orton looks smug and tells Cena he might just make an impact after that match by walking down to the ring and punting Cena in the head.

Big Show cuts him off and explains that the only reason Jericho got that match from Slaughter was because he was standing next to him and he likes to get his own way. With that in mind he informs Orton that he’s looking to make an impact too and that’s why he demanded a match against the WWE Champion tonight.

Looks like Sarge has booked a double main event!

    Match 1

Diva 4 Way #1 Contendership Match
    Kelly Kelly
    Vs.
    Alicia Fox
    Vs.
    Gail Kim
    Vs.
    Beth Phoenix

Wow what a great match to kick off Raw, I can barely control my excitement!

We had a message from a fan named Diego last week and although it was all in Spanish I managed to work out that he’s a big Triple H fan who loves it when The Game and Cena team up, but more relevant to this match, he loves Kelly Kelly.

With that in mind Diego won’t be too happy with the outcome of this match, as Gail Kim picked up the victory with that nifty little finisher she does and has now earned the chance to face Mickey James for her Divas Championship at some point in the near future.

Gail Kim wins by Pinfall and becomes the #1 Contender for the Divas Championship.

    Segment 2

    Oh Canada…

Slaughter heads out onto the ramp and says that he respects the U.S’s neighbours to the north, so his first official assignment as guest host is to lead the crowd in a salute to the Canadian flag.

The flag appears on the titan-tron, then after a few seconds a big ‘Right to Censor’ style crossed circle appears over the Maple leaf.

Sarge says he then realised that if it wasn’t for Uncle Sam, they would all be speaking Russian or French so he’s come up with a better idea; everyone in the arena will stand and pay their respects to the U.S.A.

He then recites the Pledge of Allegiance while the fans show their displeasure at the situation by booing loudly.

Looks like we’ve got an out and out Heel guest host for the first time since they started this gimmick.

    Match 2

    Singles Match
    Jack Swagger
    Vs.
    Evan Bourne

This will be the third time we’ve seen these two guys meet in as many weeks and although they’ve done pretty well so far, I’m wondering how much more they can do before it starts becoming a little samey.

Bourne starts the match in trademark high flying style but it isn’t long before Swagger turns this to his advantage and delivers a knee to the spine in a pretty unique counter to a Sunset Flip.

Bourne managed to get in a little more offence from this point and even grabbed a near fall, but Swagger seemed motivated by this and picked up the win with a Gutwrench Powerbomb not long afterwards.

After the win Swagger grabbed a microphone from Lillian and began blowing his own ‘2 time all-American’ trumpet until the music of M.V.P cut him off.

Montel says the only person who cares less about his all-American credentials are the Canadians sat in the crowd, then takes some cheap shots at Swagger’s speech impediment before challenging him to a match tonight.

Swagger says maybe next week and M.V.P knocks him on his ass with a shove, embarrassing the former ECW Champion.

    Jack Swagger wins by Pinfall.

    Segment 3

The Search for Shawn Michaels Begins

Triple H is in a cafeteria where HBK has supposedly said he will meet him.

He calls Michaels and says he can’t find him and asks if it’s all a big joke.

A waiter with similar stature to HBK walks past,Triple H approaches him and says the outfit is a far cry from the chaps he usually sees him wearing, then calls him Sexy Boy.

The waiter turns out not to be Shawn and instead tells The Game he gets off work at 7.

Triple H walks through towards the kitchen where a girl is ringing a service bell erratically while shouting and screaming about wanting her hamburger.

HBK appears in full chef regalia and stops her from ringing the bell. He tells her unless she wants to eat raw meat she’s got to let him cook both sides of the burger before he can serve it up.

He sends her back to her table as Triple H comes into shot, looking completely shocked. HBK says hello and returns to the kitchen.

    Segment 4

    Sarge Repents

Slaughter appears and says he was just kidding before, but the fans are really going to like wha the has planned next.

He says he’s got Canada’s own Celine Dion to sing their national anthem, but then says he couldn’t find her so he has someone much better.

Jillian Hall emerges dressed as Uncle Sam and sings what I think was Oh Canada, but it was that awful I can’t be sure.

    Match 3

    Contract on a Pole Match
    Eugene
    Vs.
    The Calgary Kid

Well I never thought I’d see this. Eugene back in a WWE ring.

The Calgary Kid wears a red mask and is apparently from some sort of Canadian T.V show, that’s as much as we know about him.

To start the match CK tells Eugene to look into the crowd then tries to grab the contract early, but it doesn’t work.

Eugene hits The Rock Bottom and The People’s Elbow then goes for the contract but The Calgary Kid cuts him off and grabs the contract for himself.

After the match The Calgary Kid goes to help Eugene to his feet, then instead hits The Reality Check before revealing himself as The Miz.

Looks like The Miz is back on Raw just 7 days after being fired.

The big question is this; what will become of poor Eugene?

The Calgary Kid/The Miz wins by Pinfall and gets a Raw Contract.

    Match 4

    Singles Match
    The Big Show
    Vs.
    Randy Orton

I doubt this is going to be amazing, but it’ll be interesting to see who they give the push to here and who the unpredictable Canadian crowd will side with.

At first the team of Jericho/Edge and Jericho/Show felt a lot like the writers just shoving 2 guys together who don’t have anything better to do, and putting the straps on them.

But the longer this goes on, the better it is for the Unified Tag Titles. Having 2 big names who are giving the WWE Champion and #1 contender a run for their money holding the belts is a great way to give them credibility again.

We here at WWEBlog.co.uk were discussing it earlier today and decided we’d most like to see Show/Jericho Vs. D-X or even Vs. Edge and Christian if The Rated R Superstar can return from injury before the fans get fed up of seeing these two guys with the belts.

Show dominated nearly all of this match and would have had it won with a ShowStopper, had Orton not been able to get his foot on the bottom rope.

Show then began winding up for the big Right Hand but Orton dodged it and exited the ring, accepting the count out rather than getting back in to face the 7ft giant.

The Big Show wins by Count Out.

    Segment 5

    The Search for Shawn Michaels…Continues.

Back in the corporate cafe’ Triple H continues his attempts to coax HBK back into the ring.

Shawn says after Mania it was all over for him in the ring, and here he’s part of something and people respect him.

The burger girl re-appears and throws a bowl of Tater-Tots in his face, saying they are awful.

Triple H tries to explain the situation with Legacy but Michaels says he’s happy now and really good at what he does, while right behind him the grill begins to set alight.

Michaels finally concedes and says he’ll listen to what The Game has to say.

    Match 5

    Singles Match
    M.V.P
    Vs.
    Chris Masters

Masters has looked significantly better since returning to the WWE a couple of weeks ago, although this might be down to the fact he hasn’t re-started the MasterLock Challenge yet.

Masters looked good in this one and almost locked in his trademark Full Nelson but M.V.P managed to reverse it and hit The Playmaker to pick up the pin in a fairly short match.

Swagger made his way down the ramp after the match while M.V.P challenged him to get in the ring.

While Swagger held his attention Masters got back up and locked in the MasterLock, before Swagger entered the ring and hit the Gutwrench Powerbomb on the incapacitated M.V.P.

    M.V.P wins by Pinfall.

    Segment 6

The Search for Shawn Michaels Continues…Some More

While Michaels flips burgers Triple H tells him that as hard as it’ll be to leave this kitchen he’s working in, he belongs in the WWE.

Michaels puts Triple H on burger flipping duty then takes a pop at Jeremy Piven, calling SummerSlam ‘SummerFest’ (See last week’s Raw Review: Segment 1).

The boss comes out of the back and calls Michaels ‘Hickenbottom’ (his real surname), Triple H laughs and Michaels says that it’s to protect his anonymity.

The boss chews him out for all the things he’s done wrong and HBK eventually hits him with the Sweet Chin Music, then tells Triple H that D-X are back together.

Finally, the burger girl makes another appearance and after some careful consideration Shawn hits her with the Sweet Chin Music too, before throwing his chefs hat on the grill and declaring that he quits.

    Segment 7

    The Hitman Returns?

Slaughter appears for the third time tonight and thanks the crowd for being good sports while he was poking fun at them.

He says the truth is they are all part of the one WWE Universe and to show his appreciation he’s going to bring out a special guest that they haven’t seen for a long time, teasing at a Bret Hart return with his famous ‘best there is, best there was, best there ever will be’ line.

Bret’s music plays but no one appears, then Hacksaw Jim Duggan’s music plays instead and he appears carrying the Stars and Stripes. Sarge chants U.S.A while Duggan heads to the ring and waves the flag much to the dismay of the crowd.

    Match 6

    Tag Team Match
    Hornswoggle & Mark Henry
    Vs.
    Chavo Guerrero & ??? Priceless

Before the match starts Chavo appears in his street clothes and says as much as he was looking forward to facing them both he is still injured from last week. He then says he’s found a replacement tag team and introduces Priceless.

It looks like Hornswoggle has attached himself to Henry now, which doesn’t bode well for The World’s Strongest Man who seemed to be in contention for the WWE Championship just a couple of weeks ago.

Henry dominated both members of Priceless early on but things took a turn for the worst as he tagged in Hornswoggle, who missed the Tadpole Splash on DiBiase.

Moments later Rhodes knocked Henry from the apron which allowed DiBiase to hit Dream Street on Hornswoggle and pick up the 3.

Not only has Henry been saddled with Hornswoggle, he’s lost too.

After the bell Priceless stood at the top of the ramp and addressed the situation with D-X.

DiBiase says they aren’t scared and they are ready to face D-X at SummerSlam where they will make sure it is the shortest comeback in WWE history.

    Priceless win by Pinfall.

    Segment 8

    Jericho Interviewed

Backstage Josh Mathews asks Jericho about his match with Cena later tonight.

Jericho says he is finally going to get a win over Cena in the city where he trained in Stu Hart’s Dungeon. He plays to the crowd and seems to be trying to get himself over with the fans he usually calls parasites.

The Big Show interrupts the interview and asks if Jericho saw Orton running away from him earlier in the night. Jericho, thinking the cameras have stopped rolling, then reveals getting the crowd on his side has all been a carefully worked plan to get them to boo Cena.

He then goes on a rant about how stupid Canadians are, explaining that he isn’t even Canadian himself as he was born in the U.S.A (no Bruce Springsteen jokes please) until Mathews comes back into shot and tells him that he’s still on-air.

    Main Event Match

    Singles Match
    Chris Jericho
    Vs.
    John Cena

The crowd seem pretty divided after that last promo, half sticking with Jericho regardless while the others support Cena like they are ’supposed’ to do.

While this match rumbles on I think I’ve come to the conclusion that Sgt. Slaughter has been pretty much the most useless guest host to date, in as much as he’s not ACTUALLY done anything guest-host related on camera.

He supposedly booked this match and the Show/Orton one, but we didn’t see that happen and all we’ve actually see him do is come out and insult the Canadian crowd in some fairly predictable segments. On the plus side at least he hasn’t been plugging anything like Piven or ZZ Top.

Back in the ring the momentum continues to swing between both guys, each one hitting trademark moves and grabbing near falls in the process.

Jericho locks in the Walls of Jericho in the centre of the ring but Cena manages to reverse it and lock in a STF of his own.

As Jericho looks close to tapping Randy Orton slides into the ring and the referee calls for the bell.

Orton looks like he’s setting up for a Punt but Cena breaks the hold and the two have a short stand-off before Jericho recovers and hits Cena with a CodeBreaker.

Jericho then pushes Orton and pays the price, getting dumped out of the ring by the WWE Champion.

The Big Show then enters too and hits Orton with the ShowStopper for the second time tonight.

Slaughter then shows up and actually does something meaningful, booking Jericho & Show Vs. Cena & Orton for next week’s main event.

Cena and Orton dump Show out of the ring and then hit Jericho with a pretty cool Attitude Adjustment/RKO finisher as the show goes off-air.

The Match ends in a No Contest.

    The ECW Digest - 11/08/2009

    Opening Match

    Singles Match
    Zack Ryder
    Vs.
    Shelton Benjamin

This guy was completely hated just a few weeks ago on Smackdown, now the Canadian crowd are going crazy for him. So it appears that via a rather bizarre singing contest last week, Shelton Benjamin has inexplicably turned face.

Benjamin and Ryder had a really good opener here and the crowd seemed really into the match. Both guys hit some strong offence but it was Benjamin who eventually grabbed the win with PayDirt.

If this is a building feud I look forward to the next instalment.

    Shelton Benjamin wins by Pinfall.

    Segment 1

    Helms Interviews Burchill

Helms begins to ask about Burchill’s match tonight but he cuts him off and says he isn’t going to waste his time being interviewed by a laughing stock.

He says he knows that Helms is actually The Hurricane, then drills him in the face with a punch, delivers a big knee to the mid-section and knocks him down with another shot to the face.

    Match 2

    Singles Match
    Vladimir Kozlov
    Vs.
    Kevin Brooks

Kozlov’s turn to flatten the new guy this week.

Poor little Kevin is the first guy I’ve not been able to find anything at all about.

I’d assume he’s Canadian, but I can’t say for sure.

The Canadian crowd warmed my heart by directing a huge (and I mean huge) chant of ‘You can’t wrestle’ at Kozlov, which seemed to go on for 90% of the match.

Kozlov won with an Iron Curtain then Ezekiel Jackson appeared and the usual 1-upsmanship ensued, both delivering a finisher to poor little Wikipedia Page-less Kevin Brooks.

I don’t know how much longer this can go on.

    Vladimir Kozlov wins by Pinfall.

    Match 3

    Singles Match
    Paul Burchill (w/Katie-Lea)
    Vs.
    Yoshi Tatsu

The Bella Twins were introduced as special guest ring announcers for this match.

Tatsu started the match on the receiving end of a beating from Burchill, but it wasn’t long before he’d battled back into the match and began hitting pinpoint kicks; something that is fast becoming a trademark of the young Japanese high flyer.

Katie-Lea obviously didn’t like what she was seeing and whipped Tatsu with a belt as he came off the ropes, causing the disqualification.

As the Bella’s announced the result, Burchill began a savage sneak attack until ‘Stand Back…There’s a Hurricane Coming Through!’ blasted around the arena.

Burchill turned around just in time to see Hurricane fly from the top rope and hit a Cross-Body to ‘rescue’ Tatsu and make his return to the ring after a 4 year absence.

    Yoshi Tatsu wins by Disqualification.

    Segment 2

    Burchill Demands Justice

After the commercials Paul and Katie-Lea Burchill are backstage. They demand that ECW G.M Tiffany does something about The Hurricane.

Tiffany say’s she will speak to him but she doesn’t take ultimatums from anyone.

    Match 4

    Singles Match
    Tyler Reks
    Vs.
    Tom James

Two jobbers on one show and I’m afraid to say I’ve come up short on both. Once again I couldn’t find anything about this guy, although I assume his ring name is a homage to Tommy Dreamer (real name Thomas James Laughlin).

Reks dominated the match and won with a Springboard Missile Dropkick. I still don’t care too much about Reks.

    Tyler Reks wins by Pinfall.

    Segment 3

The Abraham Washington Show with Christian

Washington began the segment by playing to the crowd, although it didn’t last long.

He said he didn’t feel safe in Canada as their national sport entails a load of white guys beating a black object with sticks, then said he didn’t know if he was in Canada or at an LAPD rally.

A ‘laugh’ prompt appeared on the Titan-tron at this point, although it didn’t work too well.

Washington mentioned that it was Hulk Hogan’s birthday (happy birthday Hulkster, from WWEBlog.co.uk) and that got a huge pop from the crowd.

He then introduced Canadian-born Christian, referring to him as the elephant man in the process.

After a rousing ovation from the crowd Christian told Washington that while it wasn’t The Peep Show, his setup isn’t too bad.

After a highlight reel of last week’s Extreme Rules match Washington asked Christian if Dreamer hit him with a Singapore Cane or the ugly stick, then asked if they had stayed friends after the bout, throwing in some fat jokes about the former ECW champ.

Christian said they had and then told Washington if he didn’t stop taking cheap shots at the both of them he will need a dentist as his guest next week, because he’s going to knock his teeth down his throat.

Christian said he’d happily take anyone on and Washington said he had breaking news, introducing William Regal as the #1 contender.

Regal said the English are notorious for being the most brutal and barbaric race in history and if Christian doesn’t believe him, he should watch what he’s planning on doing to his friend Tommy Dreamer.

    Main Event Match

    Singles Match
    Tommy Dreamer
    Vs.
    William Regal

This match was pretty average as they go and saw Dreamer snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Regal avoided losing to a pinfall by getting his foot on the bottom rope, then after pulling Dreamer’s injured arm over the top rope, grabbed the win with a Knee Trembler.

After the bell Regal locked on the Regal Stretch until Christian ran him off and made the save to end the show.

I’m sure Christian and Regal can do some pretty good stuff together, but I can’t see the belt changing hands.

I’m hoping I’ll be proven wrong though.

    William Regal wins by Pinfall.

    The Superstars Recap - 13/08/2009

    Opening Match

    Singles Match
    John Morrison
    Vs.
    David Hart Smith (w/Natalya)

Both guys got a massive ovation as they entered, with the Canadian crowd getting firmly behind Hart Smith as things progressed, demonstrating what J.R described as ‘the hometown advantage’.

Tyson Kidd was conspicuously absent from this match which seemed strange as The Hart Dynasty always seem to come to the ring together, Kidd has built up somewhat of a small feud with Morrison and as mentioned before he would have got a big pop from this Canadian crowd.

DHS and Morrison put on a very good match, with Natalya playing the cheerleader on the outside and even saving her stable-mate from a big top rope attack when the action spilled to the outside.

Morrison picked up a well deserved win after a Flying Chuck and Starship Pain, but this match did nothing but good things as far as David Hart Smith’s reputation goes.

The big question still remains; Where was Tyson Kidd?

    John Morrison wins by Pinfall.

    Segment 1

    Ask The Divas

First the Divas were asked what to do when a girl just won’t take no for an answer. Answers ranged from letting her down gently and introducing her to a friend to being disgusting and picking your nose.

Next up someone wanted to know what to do about not liking her best friends new boyfriend. The main consensus seemed to be just to deal with it, although Layla said she’d prefer to point out all his flaws in an attempt to sabotage the relationship.

    Match 2

    Singles Match
    Goldust
    Vs.
    Sheamus

Sheamus is now 2 and 0 against The Bizarre One and while I like to see future talent pushed at the expense of a lower card veteran, I’d still like to see Goldust win one and keep things competitive.

After a very short period which Goldust completely controlled, Sheamus left the ring and entered the crowd, seemingly planning to abandon the match as the show went to commercials.

However, as the show resumed Sheamus was back in the ring and a replay showed how he had drilled Goldust into the steel steps during the break to gain the advantage.

This was an advantage he managed to maintain for pretty much the rest of the bout, that was until a double Boot floored both men and Goldust rolled the Celtic Warrior up for a 3 count as they got back to their feet.

    Goldust wins by Pinfall.

    Main Event Match

    Mixed Tag Team Match
    Mickey James & Kofi Kingston
    Vs.
    Carlito & Rosa Mendes

Once again Superstars seems to have been booked backwards. This would have made a much better opener, and Morrison Vs. David Hart Smith would have been a more fitting main event, especially given the location of the show tonight.

To be honest this match didn’t interest me much at all. Kofi and Carlito had a few enjoyable moments but after 2 very well worked matches earlier in the show, this one just seemed like a step backwards.

Rosa Mendes still doesn’t look ‘ready’ for the Divas main event picture (which is really saying something if you think about it) and the difference of quality between her and Mickey James was very noticeable.

Maryse would perhaps have been a better choice for this match, although perhaps the people behind the scenes didn’t want too many adverse crowd reactions on one show.

The match ended as so many mixed tag team bouts tend to do. While the Divas rolled around on the outside, Carlito managed to avoid Kofi’s offence then hit a Backstabber to pick up the pinfall uninterrupted.

A big win for Carlito and Mendes over the U.S Champ and Divas Champ respectively.

Carlito & Rosa Mendes win by Pinfall.

    The Smackdown Summary - 14/08/2009

    Opening Segment

    TLC Talk

After clips of last week’s main event C.M Punk made his way to the ring as the Edmonton crowd gave him a good booing.

He said that when Teddy Long said the match at SummerSlam would be Jeff Hardy’s speciality, he was wrong.

Punk then listed reasons why a TLC match is much more suited to himself, using the brutal attack with a steel chair last week as edvidence as well as his two Money in the Bank victories, obviously.

What followed was more of his self righteous ‘I want to help you’ gimmick, delivered brilliantly as usual. Punk said for the fans to live a healthier lifestyle and contribute to society, all he has to do is end Jeff Hardy.

Punk then says he’s heard Jeff might not even make it to SummerSlam due to the injuries suffered last week but as he continues to explain, Teddy Long’s music plays and the Smackdown G.M heads down the ramp.

Teddy says Punk’s actions last week were deplorable and he could have ended Jeff’s career.

He then tells the #1 contender not to start making other plans for SummerSlam because not only will Jeff be there, he’s going to be on Smackdown tonight.

After some more big talk from Punk about how he is going to beat Morrison tonight and win the title at SummerSlam, Jeff appears from the back and very gingerly makes his way to the ring.

Jeff’s promo delivery also seems to have been damaged in the attack last week, as he slipped back into his old shouty, over-emphasis on the wrong words style as he told Punk he would fight through the pain at SummerSlam.

    Segment 2

    Phonecall for Long

Backstage Teddy Long is reading through some paperwork when his phone begins to ring.

Upon answering it he finds out it is Mr. McMahon, who tells his G.M that he wants Jeff Hardy in action tonight against the Hart Dynasty, 2 on 1 Handicap style.

    Match 1

    Singles Match
    Finlay
    Vs.
    Dolph Ziggler

This match wasn’t too bad, considering I’m not a huge fan of Finlay.

Mike Knox made his way to ringside after a few minutes of the bout, standing and watching with no particular purpose.

After some nice back and forth between the two guys in the ring, Knox sprung to life, making a bee-line for Finlay as the Fighting Irishman stood on the apron. Finlay managed to repel his attack and looked to continue with the match, but while the referee’s back was turned Knox struck his knee with the shaleighle.

Moments later Ziggler hit his finisher and wrapped up the match.

Knox hadn’t finished however, and after beating Finlay down and side slamming him onto the steel steps he actually spoke.

Knox said it’s common knowledge that there are 206 bones in the human body, but he is fascinated by how the slightest trauma on the cervical vertebra leaves someone in quite a lot of excruciating discomfort.

    Interesting gimmick developing I think.

    Dolph Ziggler wins by Pinfall.

    Segment 3

    Singh Held Hostage

Earlier in the night a video had played showing Kane kidnapping Runjin Singh last week and J.R had said the two of them were in the building tonight.

Backstage Singh is shown looking a little worse for wear, tied to a chair.

Singh continually says he hasn’t done anything and Kane keeps telling him to say ‘it’. Eventially after being threatened, Singh delivers a kind of hostage dialogue saying he is being punished for associating with The Great Khali and that he is being treated fairly by his captor.

Singh then attempts to say something else but Kane smacks him in the face and tells him to shut up. Finally Kane comes on camera and tells Khali he wants him to come and examine his handywork.

    Segment 4

    McCool Returns…

Backstage Maria is telling Melina about her romantic plans with Ziggler.

Layla enters and tells Maria to watch Dolph because once he realises he can do better, he’ll leave her and move on.

She then informs Melina that Michelle McCool will be back next week. Melina says she has a message she can take back to McCool, and she’ll give it to her in the ring later.

    Match 2

    Singles Match
    John Morrison
    Vs.
    C.M Punk

This was yet another great match between these two guys, but as I’m in a bit or a rush I won’t go into too much detail as it wasn’t a million miles away from the last two times they met.

Brilliant ringwork, some great high flying moments, numerous near falls and a couple of finisher reversals thrown in for good measure.

Punk picked up the win with a GTS after avoiding Starship Pain and inflicting damage while Morrison was tied up in a Tree of Woe.

    C.M Punk wins by Pinfall.

    Match 3

    Divas Match
    Melina
    Vs.
    Layla

During the entrances for this match Kane appeared on the titan-tron and continued his attack on Singh.

He asked him why Khali is such a freak, and Singh said he isn’t a freak, he’s his brother.

I don’t know if he meant that in a literal term, I assume he did.

Kane said Khali had better be quick because he is running out of patience.

Back to the divas match, nothing ground-breaking but not the worst match I’ve ever seen.

Melina predictably picked up the win with that kind of standing Legdrop thing she does.

    Melina wins by Pinfall.

    Match 4

    Singles Match
    JTG (w/Shad)
    Vs.
    The Big Show (w/Chris Jericho)

Before the match Cryme Tyme talked about how JTG picked up a win over Jericho last week and how they are going to win the tag titles at SummerSlam.

Jericho joined the commentary team for this match and defended his loss last week, saying it was just a lucky break.

Show dominated JTG in the ring practically from start to finish, picking up the win with the Colossal Clutch.

On the outside Jericho hit Shad with a sneak attack then beat him down after the match to ascert the tag team champion’s dominance.

However, as the champs were leaving the ring Shad got in a sneak attack of his own, dumping Show over the top rope and enraging the giant. Jericho calmed him down and the two left.

The Big Show wins by Pinfall.

    Segment 4

    Backstage Assault

In the back Runjin Singh is shown hung upside down. Now I’m not a huge TNA follower, but I’m sure I saw them doing something very similar to this a few months back with Khali’s former interpreter; Divari. If anyone can shed any light on this drop us an email using the ‘Contact Us‘ page.

Khali finally found his ‘brother’, only to be attacked by Kane who was wielding a steel pipe as he tried to rescue him.

Once thoroughly beaten Kane told Khali he’s never been afraid of him, but maybe now there should be some fear going the other way.

    Main Event Match

    2 on 1 Handicap Match
    Jeff Hardy
    Vs.
    The Hart Dynasty (w/Natalya)

The crowd are clearly divided in this match. Everyone seems to love Jeff Hardy, but on the other hand The Hart Dynasty are Canadian. Not only are they Canadian, they are descendants of the greatest Canadian wrestling families of all time (with the exception of Kidd, but he’s practically a Hart too.)

The Dynasty had the lion’s share of offence and picked up the win with the Hart Attack, although Jeff had a lot more of the match than most people would have expected.

Almost as soon as the bell rang C.M Punk made his way to the ring and began reighning elbows down on the already injured champion’s head and neck.

Morrison ran in to make the save but the numbers game caught up with him, with Punk eventually drilling him with a chair then re-focusing his attention on Jeff.

Punk once again wrapped the chair around Jeff’s neck but just before he could throw him into the ring post Matt Hardy sprinted to the ring for the save.

Morrison and Matt cleared the ring then Matt began walking towards his brother. Jeff cowered under the bottom rope until Matt grabbed his arm and helped him to his feet, before the two shared an awkward moment of sibling respect.

Backstage Mr. McMahon showed up in Teddy’s office and said it was a pretty exciting show. Long then booked Punk & The Hart Dynasty Vs. John Morrison & The Hardys for next week.

Vince seemed impressed but then told Long he’s still on probation.

The Hart Dynasty win by Pinfall.
