The Superstars Recap
Opening Match
Tag Team Match
The Bella Twins
Vs.
Jillian Hall & Katie Lea Burchill
I’ve rumbled you here WWE Creative team (pardon the pun.)
When was the last time you saw The Bella’s actually wrestle, especially as a team?
Exactly.
However, as soon as there’s a new CD out that just happens to feature their music; boom, here they are.
Let it never be said that we here at WWEBlog aren’t creatures of habit.
Sticking with the trend of seriously trimming Superstars coverage on PPV weeks, I spooled to the end of this one, stopping just in time to see one of The Bella’s pick up a pinfall victory over Katie Lea.
Cue some more of that lucrative music.
Also, while she’s here can someone ask Katie Lea where her brother’s gone?
The Bella Twins win by Pinfall.
Cast your vote now!
Match 2
Royal Rumble Qualifier Match
Chavo Guerrero
Vs.
Primo
Vs.
Chris Masters (w/Eve)
Finally, a (semi) important match on Superstars.
I’ve thrown the word ‘semi’ in there, because if we’re honest the outcome of this one doesn’t really matter.
None of these guys are going to win the rumble.
This match was the usual pre-Rumble way to deliver the message that ‘just like the Rumble, it’s every man for himself.’
Truth be told it was a solid triple threat with plenty of opportunities for all three guys to pick up the win, usually thwarted by the third.
After numerous attempts Masters finally locked Chavo in the Masterlock to earn himself a place (and more than likely an elimination) in the Royal Rumble.
Chris Masters qualifies for the Royal Rumble by Submission.
Segment 1
The Truth about the Rumble
Jericho makes his way to the ring, presumably to talk about the Royal Rumble.
Once there he makes a very valid point, that he’s sick of hearing people spout their propaganda about how they are going to win the rumble.
Guess what he did next?
Yeah, that’s right, talked about how he is going to win the rumble.
Jericho said that anyone else claiming they were going to win it are liars, just like the attending audience, as he guarantees victory on Sunday.
Just as Jericho began to go on about how great he is, R-Truth decided to put in an appearance, rapping his way to the ring.
Surprisingly, Truth agreed that Jericho is indeed ‘the best at what he does’, but then said that was being arrogant, annoying, aggravating and running his mouth.
Truth says Jericho is that person who people hate to see coming, but love to see going.
He then says that he is going to be the one to win the rumble (yeah, right) and if he gets the chance he’s going to be the one to eliminate Jericho.
The two end up brawling, with R-Truth getting the better of things.
How many more people are they going to try and push Truth against before they realise he’s just a little bit…dull.
Main Event Match
Singles Match
Matt Hardy (w/Khali & Ranjin Singh)
Vs.
David Hart Smith (w/The Hart Dynasty)
This match stems from the tag team bout last week on Smackdown when Natalya attempted to distract Khali, only to have it backfire when Matt Hardy picked up the win in the ring.
As good as I expect this match to be, I really haven’t got that much time to cover it, so I’ll just do the basics.
Very strong match, which DH Smith stole a victory in thanks to assistance from both other members of The Hart Dynasty.
After the bell Khali jumped in the ring and cleaned house, ‘eliminating’ both members of the opposition and even his own partner to show that once again there are no friends in the rumble and that The Punjabi Playboy wants to win it.
David Hart Smith wins by Pinfall.
