The Superstars Recap

The Miz
Vs.
Santino Marella
You would not believe how hard it’s been to bring you the Superstars Recap this week.
Between viewing problems, site problems, system problems and time constraints, everything has conspired against this article being published, but never fear for we’re bringing you all the action by hook or by crook.
It’s also just our luck that the one Superstars Recap that’s causing all the issues actually looks like one of the best cards this show has seen in a long time, kicking off with The Miz and Santino.
Due to the nature of the problems we’ve had, I can’t bring you quite as much detail as usual, but I’ll do my best.
This match started pretty well for Santino, who got a rapturous (okay, maybe not rapturous but a very strong) response from the crowd as the opening bell rang.
The Miz didn’t take long to take control though, picking up a near fall with a big kick to the side of the head.
While this match continues may I offer a belated ‘Happy Thanksgiving’ to all our U.S visitors. We don’t celebrate it over here, which sucks for me personally because I love turkey.
I’m personally thankful for the great following we have here at WWEBlog, despite only being around for a short space of time.
I’m also thankful for the rest of the WWEBlog Team, who tirelessly put in the effort for nothing more than a word of thanks.
I wouldn’t be possible without the visitors, or the staff, so again, thanks guys!
With the soppy stuff out of the way I’ll get back to the match.
At the climax of the match Santino ‘primed the cobras’, after a flurry of offence, but The Miz capitalised on this time-wasting and struck with a Skull Crushing Finale to pick up the win.
A very entertaining opening match.
The Miz wins by Pinfall.
Segment 1
Ask The Divas
Yeah, it really is Ask The Divas again.
Firstly they were asked what their favourite part of Thanksgiving is, the almost unanimous response seemed to be ‘food’.
Lastly they were asked if they prepare the Thanksgiving dinner, with mixed but generally uninteresting answers.
Match 2
Singles Match
Vladimir Kozlov (w/William Regal)
Vs.
Goldust
So the big story here is the absence of Ezekiel Jackson, who walked out on the Ruthless Roundtable just a couple of days ago on ECW.
Does anyone else get the feeling the demise of Regal’s faction has come around a little too quickly?
Sure, they weren’t exactly writing any headlines, but it was a nice little coalition that could have worked quite well together for at least a few more months.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Jackson didn’t re-join the Roundtable, at least temporarily, perhaps in some sort of twist.
This wasn’t a terrible match actually, despite Kozlov’s presence.
Perhaps he’s getting better, although I prefer to subscribe to the theory that Goldust made him look good, as we’ve seen him do against up and comers on ECW for a while now.
Kozlov picked up the win with the Iron Curtain, the Regal entered the ring after the bell and struck with a Knee Trembler.
Vladimir Kozlov wins by Pinfall.
Main Event Match
Singles Match
R-Truth
Vs.
Dolph Ziggler
If Ziggler loses this one then there is something very wrong behind the scenes on Smackdown.
It feels like the New-Age Mr. Perfect hasn’t had a decent win in weeks, despite turning in some very impressive performances against John Morrison.
Conversely R-Truth picked up a couple of big wins over former World Heavyweight Champ C.M Punk recently, despite being distinctly average.
From what I could see, this match was pretty good.
Ziggler played the heel role perfectly as per usual, while R-Truth used his trademark fast paced, high flying style to counter-act his opponents viciousness.
The high risk offence almost cost Truth dearly half way through the match, when he failed to land his trademark flying Elbow, instead taking a big knock and very nearly losing by way of a count-out.
From that point Ziggler dominated for the longest time, until Truth battled back and hit the ‘Lie Detector’ on the second time of asking, picking up the pinfall as a result.
Good match, but an awful outcome in my opinion.
I think I’ll have to speak to the WWEBlog Informant and see if he knows what Ziggler has done, because I have to believe he must have ruffled some feathers somewhere to be on such an unfortunate streak.
R-Truth wins by Pinfall.
