The Superstars Recap
Match 1
Singles Match
Goldust
Vs.
William Regal
Hey guys!
Firstly, apologies for the rather impromptu Bank Holiday break that we had here on WWEBlog, I had to take the time off due to unforeseen family circumstances (more specifically I spent the whole weekend with my beautiful Fiancé and didn’t have time to watch the shows, never mind write them up.)
But I’m hoping to have a Super Tuesday and blitz through all three outstanding shows, getting us back up to date ready for the NXT Season 2 Finale.
Unfortunately sacrifices have to be made in situations like this and unsurprisingly I’ve placed the pointless Superstars at the top of this list.
Anyone thinking they see a large Chinese contingent in the crowd for this week’s Superstars, that’d be because it’s taking place in China, for the first time like, EVER, which King and Cole have only reminded us of about 20 times during this match.
For what it’s worth Goldy and Regal put on a clinic here, and it’s a crying shame that it was for nothing other than to pad out Superstars (and subsequently kick off Raw) because this would have been a fantastic title match or something.
Regal got the 1..2..3 with the Knee Trembler after a period of Goldust domination, but both men showed why they are true veterans of the business.
William Regal wins by Pinfall.
Match 2
Tag Team Match
The Gatecrashers
Vs.
The Dudebusters
I still don’t get this, but based on what Matt Striker said as The Dudebusters made their way to the ring, I think they might be turning them.
He said something about the crowd respecting The Dudebuster’s desire for the titles and getting behind them, or something. Grisham seemed sceptical of his statement, but they are certainly the face team in these series of bouts, with Hawkins and Ryder being the out-and-out heels.
Long story short this was a great match and rather surprisingly The Dudebusters picked up a big win when Barretta hit an amazing Rope-Walk DDT on Archer, spiking him with some serious impact and putting them right back into title contention.
The Dudebusters win by Pinfall.
Main Event Match
Singles Match
Drew McIntyre
Vs.
Chris Masters
Well, having already seen one result that could be classed as an upset I really couldn’t see another one here, especially when you’ve got McIntyre on the up and up and Masters laying down on a weekly basis.
On the plus side this one got about 15 minutes of the card, but with the result never really in any doubt it was tricky to enjoy what was essentially a well wrestled match.
Masters came close once or twice with the MasterLock, but McIntyre used his usual cunning to escape and won with the FutureShock DDT.
Smackdown Headliners 2 – 0 Chris Masters.
Drew McIntyre wins by Pinfall.
