The Superstars Recap
Match 1
Singles Match
Kofi Kingston (w/Michael McGillicutty)
Vs.
Trent Barretta (w/Caylen Croft)
“The Dudebusters bust dudes up” – That’s most probably going to be Matt Striker’s best addition to the show tonight, and so early as well.
Thanks to Kingston’s title match against McIntyre being added to the Fatal 4 Way card so late in the day we’re really up against it here at WWEBlog Towers, but we’re still bringing you Superstars despite it’s intense pointlessness.
This was your run-of-the-mill tune up match for Kingston, albeit a very long and well wrestled one.
Barretta looked good, but Kofi looked better and picked up the win with the Trouble in Paradise.
Again another pointless outing for McGillicutty, I didn’t even see him getting the crowd going. I get that it’s supposed to show a bond between the Rookies and Pros, but at least have them do something.
Kofi Kingston wins by Pinfall.
Match 2
Singles Match
Primo
Vs.
Yoshi Tatsu
Primo really needs less jovial music now he’s a heel, it doesn’t really fit his new persona.
I have to say I’ve warmed to him a bit since Carlito’s departure, but I just don’t think he’s interesting enough to make a go of it.
Tatsu is much the same, he’s got a certain look, he’s got the whole Steamboat thing going on, but he’s got no personality and really could do with a mouthpiece manager or a stable or something.
I wonder if Steamboat is busy, he’d make a great manager for the kid.
Anyway, another good if not pointless match, with Primo showing some new heelish moves.
He grabbed the win with a hand full of tights, furthering the crowds distaste towards him.
As he made his way up the ramp The Great Khali rather randomly emerged to show his distaste at how Primo had just won the match. With the help of Tatsu he hit the Punjabi Plunge and the pair celebrated in the ring.
Remember when I said Tatsu needed a mouthpiece? Khali is like the least suitable person in the world to fit that bill.
Primo wins by Pinfall.
Main Event Match
Tag Team Match
Mark Henry
Vs.
The Usos (w/Tamina)
At last, a match to look forward to on Superstars!
This is the Usos début and I’ve been keen to see them in action for a while, it’s just a shame that it’s against a rather odd tag team.
That said, I’m always singing Goldust’s praises for his ability to make others look good, so hopefully he can do the same here.
I can’t get over how much these guys look like The Rock. I know they are loosely related, but one in particular (I haven’t worked out who is Jay and who is Jimmy yet) is almost identical as far as his face goes.
This was a rather subdued first outing for the Usos, with Henry and Goldust commanding a lot of the action. However, in the periods that they did dominate Rikishi’s kids looked very very good and I can’t wait to see them against The Hart Dynasty.
Things broke down at the climax of the match and Tamina proved to be a vital member of the Uso setup, hooking Goldusts leg and distracting him just long enough for Jimmy Uso to hit a Rikishi Side Kick and grab the win with a Superfly Splash.
The Usos win by Pinfall.
