The Superstars Recap
Match 1
Singles Match
JTG
Vs.
Chavo Guerrero
Yup, it’s that time of the week again, when I selflessly waste an hour of my life reporting the tedious, unexciting, uninspiring, vapid happenings of Superstars.
And this was a perfect example of the kinds of thing that happen week in/week out.
It was a nice, well timed match between two very underrated mid-carders, but beyond that there was nothing to get excited about.
Rather surprisingly Chavo won with a Frogsplash, which is the first time I can remember him doing so in recent memory, so what does that say about poor old JTG?
Chavo Guerrero wins by Pinfall.
Match 2
Tag Team Match
The Gatecrashers
Vs.
Matt Cross & Jamin Canceco
Oh goodie! Some ‘Local Talent’!
It’s been a while since someone got squashed, and more often than not they will be similar to Jamin Canceco, a jobber who I couldn’t find a single thing about.
However, I’m reluctant to use the term jobber when referring to Matt Cross, because the guy has actually done a hell of a lot since making his wrestling début in 2001 (search for M-Dogg 20 if you want to know more about him.)
Sadly though previous experience counts for nothing when your job is putting someone else over, and Cross got covered after a brutal Clothesline and a Heat Seeking Elbow.
The Gatecrashers win by Pinfall.
Match 3
Divas Tag Team Match
Maryse & Jillian Hall
Vs.
The Bella Twins
Fantastic, two worn out gimmicks rolled into one match!
Jillian did her tired, not even funny when it was a new concept singing bit, telling The Bellas she can do anything better than them in song.
And invariably The Bellas did their predictable Switch-a-Roo bit to win the match, but only after Maryse and Jillian had tried it to no avail.
The worrying thing is both of these things seem to draw a huge reaction from the attending audience.
The Bellas win by Pinfall.
Main Event Match
Singles Match
Chris Jericho
Vs.
Yoshi Tatsu
As I’m sure I’ve mentioned in the past I hold Jericho in incredibly high regard, in fact I’d even go as far as to say he’s in my top 5 of all time, but I really don’t have the time or patience to document him beating Tatsu.
It was obvious from the opening bell which way this was going to go, but on the plus side Tatsu looked good and it wasn’t a one sided affair by any stretch of the imagination.
But just when things started to look up for Tatsu, Chris caught him in the Walls of Jericho and ended the match.
Chris Jericho wins by Submission.
