    The Superstars Recap

    Opening Match

    Singles Match
    Kofi Kingston
    Vs.
    Chavo Guerrero

It’s gonna be a quick Superstars this week guys, mainly because we’ve got an awful lot going on in the lead up to WrestleMania and I’m feeling a little drained trying to co-ordinate it all.

Kofi’s gone from fighting for a World Title at the Elimination Chamber PPV to facing Raw’s comic relief on the most pointless televised show the WWE has.

Chavo doesn’t deserve to be wasting away in pointless Guest Host segments either.

The most interesting development in this match came when Chavo’s eyebrow got busted open. Rather than EMT’s flooding out from the back to patch it up, the referee donned some latex gloves and did the job instead.

They really are taking this blood thing seriously.

Michael Cole also admitted that a girl named ‘Liz’ broke his nose as a child, much to the amusement of King.

Kingston picked up the victory with the Trouble in Paradise, but this match did both guys good. It was a good match to start the show and it just emphasised how poor it is that both these guys are being underused.

    Kofi Kingston wins by Pinfall.

    Match 2

    Singles Match
    William Regal
    Vs.
    Evan Bourne

Despite the commentary team talking about NXT almost constantly, the WWE don’t seem overly keen on promoting it with any in-ring action.

I kind of understand that they want to keep all the NXT action strictly to the NXT show, but Regal’s Rookie Skip Sheffield didn’t even accompany his mentor to the ring, which couldn’t have hurt.

As it turned out he could have done with a little assistance, because Evan Bourne picked up the victory with Air Bourne, but this match was one of the most boring I’ve seen in a long time.

It was basically 10 minutes of Regal holding onto a Rear Naked Choke, while Bourne tried to fight out of it.

    Evan Bourne wins by Pinfall.

    Match 3

    Singles Match
    Mike Knox
    Vs.
    Kane

I thought these guys would end up being a tag team at one point, but since then Kane has gone through one of his usual slow and uneventful Heel>Tweener>Face turns while Knox has wallowed around on Smackdown with an incredibly poor gimmick and a slew of matches against meaningless opponents.

The highlight of this match was undoubtedly when Kane ‘almost kicked Knox’s beard off’, according to Todd Grisham.

Kane went on to win the match with a Chokeslam.

    Kane wins by Pinfall.

    Main Event Match

    Singles Match
    Chris Jericho
    Vs.
    Goldust

As far as I can figure out, this match is here to serve two purposes:

    1. To confirm that Goldust has moved to Smackdown

    2. To continue Jericho’s push into WrestleMania

And as it turned out this is exactly what it did.

Goldust put in a good showing and had more offence than I thought he would, but still got undone by the Walls Of Jericho.

For some reason Jericho used the Boston Crab version, rather than the version we’ve seen him applying on NXT for the past couple of weeks, where he places his knee on the back of the head for added effect.

A good, if not predictable episode of Superstars.

    Chris Jericho wins by Pinfall.
