The Superstars Recap - 3rd September 2009
03/09/2009
Hello and welcome the all new Superstars Recap.
As you’ve probably noticed if you are a regular visitor, a few things have changed this week.
We’ve done away with the old ‘all 4 shows on 1 post’ format (for now at least) and decided to go with a standalone page for each one.
At first it might seem a bit complicated, bouncing between pages and all, but we promise it’ll make things way easier in terms of finding specific matches etc.
We’d love to know what you think about the changes so please feel free to get in touch via the Contact Us page, or any of the usual email addresses.
(By the way, the banners are purely temporary. We kind of rushed this idea through at the last minute and didn’t have time to get anything a bit better made.)
On with the show!

Opening Match: Evan Bourne Vs. Chris Masters
Match 2: William Regal Vs. Tyler Reks

The Superstars Recap
Opening Match
Singles Match
Evan Bourne
Vs.
Chris Masters
It’s like Masters hasn’t even been away. When he left he was jobbing on Heat now he’s back he’s jobbing on Superstars.
Although in his and Bourne’s defence this was a much better match than anything you’d have expected to see on Heat.
This match was given plenty of time to run, which is one of the better aspects of the Superstars show, the fact it gives the guys lower down the card a chance to show what they can do rather than just having quick 2 minute filler matches.
Masters looks to have improved greatly since those Heat days, this was the first chance he’d really got to show it and in my opinion he did.
Bourne was also impressive although this match fit very snugly into the Mysterio formula of being destroyed then snatching a win and it’d be a shame to see another talented guy get squeezed into that mold.
Bourne pulled out the win with a knee to the head followed by a Shooting Star Press, despite being squashed for pretty much the whole bout by The Masterpiece.
Evan Bourne wins by Pinfall.
Match 2
Singles Match
William Regal (w/Kozlov & Jackson)
Vs.
Tyler Reks
It’s no secret that I haven’t exactly warmed to Reks thus far.
I personally think the character is a bit weak and so far I haven’t seen anything I’d class as above average, but you never know, maybe he’ll impress me tonight against ECW’s #1 Contender.
If they are going to give a stable name to Regal’s coalition then I wish they’d make it apparent, because every week Matt Striker calls them something slightly different.
This week he referred to them as the ‘Ruthless Roundtable’.
This wasn’t quite as good as the opening bout, but it wasn’t too bad either. Reks didn’t do too badly although unsurprisingly it was Regal who picked up the win with the Knee Trembler.
After the bell Jackson and Kozlov delivered their finishers before Regal explained it was a message to the rest of the ECW roster that no one should mess with them.
William Regal wins by Pinfall.
Main Event Match
6 Person Mixed Tag Team Match
Cryme Tyme & Eve Torres
Vs.
The Hart Dynasty
Again this match was given a lot of time to run, which was good, although the problem is there wasn’t much we haven’t already seen 3 or 4 times between these two teams.
Natalya looked good and could be what the Divas division needs. Hopefully they will push her in that direction in the near future.
Eve also hit some pretty good offence and looked like picking up the win with a Muta-Style handspring Bodysplash.
Unfortunately she missed it and Natalya picked up the win with a Discus Clothesline as soon as she got back to her feet.
Good stuff from Superstars this week, it was all about the in-ring action and I think it showed off some of the WWE’s future talent really well.
The Hart Dynasty win by Pinfall.
