    The Superstars Recap

    Match 1

    Singles Match
    Ted DiBiase (w/ Maryse)
    Vs.
    Goldust

Interesting, a Rhodes Vs. a DiBiase.

I’d love to see Goldust and Cody in a proper feud at some point before the gold one hangs up his boots.

I’m sure it must be in the back of the writers minds too and based on some of the stuff I’ve read recently I bet both guys would love to do it just as much as I’d love to see it.

On a slightly different tack, why Maryse is doing the managing bit and isn’t competing for the Divas championship is beyond me.

I assume she must be carrying a knock or something, because she’s by far and away the best all-round female wrestler on Raw (Melina isn’t bad but in my opinion Maryse is better) yet she’s in this go-nowhere relationship with Ted, who I actually preferred when he was being managed by old ass Virgil.

As usual Goldust did what he does best, putting the younger guy over in a brilliant opening match.

The commentary team also deserve a nod for this match, King and Cole actually called the match brilliantly, injecting some often omitted humour just like ‘the good old days’.

Goldust did look set for a win at one point, but eventually a Dream Street led to a win for The Privileged Son.

Best all-round match I’ve seen on Superstars in a LONG time.

    Ted DiBiase wins by Pinfall.

    Match 2

    Singles Match
    Santino Marella (w/ Vladimir Kozlov)
    Vs.
Jimmy Uso (w/ Jay Uso & Tamina)

Tamina has the hots for Santino, as we’ve seen in the past few weeks, and apparently The Uso’s are none too happy about it, according to Michael Cole anyway.

Santino falls squarely into the same category as The Great Khali for me, or just about.

    Santino made a good heel.

He was arrogant, cocky (often without any reason to be) and had a relatively strong push during that phase of his career (remember the Honk-a-meter?)

Now he’s one half of a joke tag-team, with a joke finisher, used almost entirely for comic relief with no real title prospects other than a half chance at the near-pointless Tag Team Titles.

He got the win here, and kiss from Tamina after the match (on his injured Cobra), but I still can’t see big things in his future while he’s a good guy.

You may be wondering why I didn’t group Kozlov in with Santino and Khali earlier?

Simple, he wasn’t even a good heel, never mind face.

    Santino Marella wins by Pinfall.

    Main Event Match

    Singles Match
    Kofi Kingston
    Vs.
    Chavo Guerrero

Personally I’d have had this one open and Goldust Vs. DiBiase to main event, but that’s just me.

Anyone actually expecting Chavo to win this one should probably check their medication and think about increasing the dosage.

To be fair to both guys, this was another good match, but as with the past couple of Superstars Main Events, the result was never EVER in doubt.

Chavo’s bum knee stopped him from hitting the Frog Splash after the 3 Amigos, allowing Kofi to hit the Trouble in Paradise to gain the 1..2..3.

    Kofi Kingston wins by Pinfall.

Literally nothing of importance happened on this week’s Superstars.
