    The Smackdown Summary

    Match 1

Money in the Bank 10 Man Tag Team Match
Kane, Dolph Ziggler, Matt Hardy, Shelton Benjamin & Drew McIntyre
    Vs.
Jack Swagger, Christian, Kofi Kingston, M.V.P & Evan Bourne

Strange team choices with heels and faces littered on either team.

That said, the second team seems to be much more face-orientated, but then so does the Money in the Bank Ladder Match in general.

As always with the Smackdown before WrestleMania, much of the world didn’t get this ‘real’ edition of Smackdown, as it was filmed live with clips of the days WrestleMania XXVI Axxess.

Most people tuning into Smackdown will have seen a WrestleMania special, with this real episode being shown at some obscure time depending on when it could be squeezed into the schedule, or in some cases not shown at all.

This match was good, but not great.

As I’ve often said, when there are a lot of people involved in a tag team match, Superstars spend a lot of time stood on the apron not being able to show off what they can do, and this was no different.

On the plus side it did go on for quite a while and everyone got a ‘turn’.

Towards the end of the match Kane began to dominate, hitting multiple Chokeslams until Christian dumped him out of the ring.

Things broke down and although Christian hit Ziggler with the KillSwitch, he was unaware that McIntyre had made a blind tag.

The prodigy entered the ring and almost instantly scored a win with the FutureShock.

The winning team stood side by side tentatively celebrating their win, then slowly began making their way to the back.

As they did McIntyre pulled a ladder out from under the ring and set it up. However, as he climbed towards the briefcase ALL the other entrants stormed the ring and dumped the ladder over, before dropping it hard on his back.

Kane, Dolph Ziggler, Matt Hardy, Shelton Benjamin & Drew McIntyre win by Pinfall.

    Segment 1

    WrestleMania Axxess

King and Cole present a huge Mania promo from Fan Axxess, as well as showing some of the attractions from the event.

We got amongst other things to see Hornswoggle’s ‘under the ring’ house, a place where fans can stage their own entrances, Slim Jim’s Spicey Town where fans can jump off the top rope into a load of foam cubes and the Make a Wish Auction.

    Match 2

    Divas Match
    Beth Phoenix
    Vs.
    Vickie Guerrero

Ok so the term ‘Divas Match’ has been used lightly here, but that’s what it’s been billed as.

After Beth had made her way to the ring Vickie emerged in regular clothes and screeched her usual ‘excuse me’s’.

She tells Beth that she’ll regret laying hands on her and changes the match to a 5 0n 1 handicap match.

    Match 2.1

    5 on 1Divas Handicap Match
    Beth Phoenix
    Vs.
Vickie Guerrero, Michelle McCool, Maryse, Layla & Alicia Fox

This was about as interesting as watching paint dry, and did nothing for the credibility of either of the female championship belts.

Phoenix destroyed all four of the ‘real’ Divas individually but the numbers eventually caught up with her.

After McCool floored Phoenix with a big kick Vickie Guerrero made the cover for the 1..2..3.

After the bell the other Divas held Phoenix down and Vickie began to set up for a Guerrero trademarked Frog Splash, but before she could Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Eve and Gail Kim hit the ring and ran them all off.

With everyone except Vickie and Beth in the back, Beth attempted to attack Vickie, but only succeeded in tearing her pants off to reveal some huge pink knickers with ‘Excuse Me’ bedazzled on the back.

Vickie Guerrero & Co win by Pinfall.

    Segment 2

    Chris Jericho’s Heavyweight Address

Jericho makes his way to the ring with the World Heavyweight Championship draped over his shoulder.

He talks about the importance of WrestleMania and how he is going to beat Edge and retain the gold on his shoulder.

He says that he has to hand it to Edge, who he classes as one of the greatest performers of all time, with drive and determination that is second to none, as no one has returned from as many injuries as the Rated R Superstar.

Jericho says that Edge has every tool needed to beat him apart from the most important one; DNA.

As the crowd chant ‘You Suck’ Jericho tells them that he has superior DNA to all of them, including Edge.

He says that it’s his DNA that has made him the best in the world at what he does, while Edge’s DNA has made him a dysfunctional, defective reject who is ridiculously prone to injuries.

He promises to end Edge’s career on Sunday, claiming his Walls of Jericho will rupture his tendon into 1000 pieces.

Edge decides that he’s heard enough and hits the ring, knocking Jericho down before starting to set up for the Spear.

Jericho ducks out of the ring at the last minute, but leaves his title belt, which Edge poses with in-front of the WrestleMania sign.

    Segment 3

    More from WrestleMania Axxess

This time we got to see the limo that ‘Vince McMahon attempted to stage his own death in’ (aka the biggest part of the Who Killed Vince McMahon storyline that got canned because of the Benoit Tradgedy), some artefacts in the ‘Hart Family Dungeon’, including the crown that Bret won at the first ever King of the Ring, Memorabilia Lane featuring a lot of Mania memorabilia and Taker’s Graveyard.

    Main Event Match

    Singles Match
    R-Truth (w/ John Morrison)
    Vs.
The Big Show (w/ The Miz)

John Morrison blows smoke up his partner’s ass while introducing him for this match, describing their team as one of the most exciting in recent WWE History.

As the Miz would say… ‘REALLY?!’

Truth makes his way to the ring and kisses Morrison’s ass to return the favour.

Truth and Morrison then cut a quite frankly terrible PG-13 promo, poking fun at Show’s weight.

If they win the tag titles at Mania I think I might cry. Morrison is amazing in-ring, but he really should stay quiet or get new writers because his promos are ALWAYS childish and awful.

The match wasn’t much better either, lasting little over five minutes.

Show dominated the majority of it until he went for a 2nd rope Elbow Drop which had about as much success as his 2nd rope Splashes usually do.

As Truth began to set up the Lie Detector The Miz jumped up on the apron to prevent him from hitting it.

Morrison took care of The Miz, then interjected himself into the match, preventing Show from hitting the Chokeslam.

The duo then hit Show with a Double DDT leaving the official no choice but to call for the disqualification.

Truth and Morrison then went on a finisher-fest, hitting Show with the Axe Kick and the Flying Chuck, and The Miz with the Lie Detector and the Starship Pain.

Anyone out there who’s network didn’t carry this episode of Smackdown, you really didn’t miss anything at all.

The Big Show wins by Disqualification.
