    Opening Segment

    Bragging About Bragging Rights

Less than 24 hours have passed since Bragging Rights, and no doubt there will be some bruised ego’s here tonight on Raw.

Make no mistake about it, the huge right hand The Big Show delivered to Triple H wasn’t just delivered  in the heat of the moment.

Show had already done the damage to Team Raw by hitting Kofi with the Chokeslam, the punch to The Game was no doubt a way of furthering the simmering rivalry between DX and Jeri-Show, who kick off tonight’s show.

They make their way down to the ring with the Bragging Rights trophy firmly in Jericho’s grip.

Show kicks off by saying that despite what he did last night, he is still a proud member of the Raw roster.

Show is just about to explain why he turned on his team mates, when Jericho cuts him off and says that he doesn’t have to explain himself to the ‘germ breeders’ in attendance.

Jericho then says that it’s obvious that he turned because his loyalty to Jericho is greater than that of his loyalty to Raw. He congratulates Show for putting an end to the tyranny of DX, cutting off Show as he continually tries to get his side of the story across.

Eventually Show explains that his actions at Bragging Rights were purely for his own gains, revealing that he had struck up a deal with Teddy Long to secure himself a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship as long as he helped Smackdown win.

Jericho complains that his partner never cleared this with him but before the two get chance to argue Kyle Busch and Joey Logano make their grand entrance with a selection of divas in tow.

Once in the ring Busch says that while not many of the fans liked what Show did last night, he understands why he did it and he respects that.

Busch shakes Show’s hand but Logano refuses to do the same and describes his actions at Bragging Rights as ‘weak’.

Busch apologises to Show and says his partner is young, stupid and doesn’t understand the draw of a championship yet.

Boy, these guys are so wooden it’s painful.

I’ll trim down what happened for you guys, because this really is the worst delivery of a promo I’ve seen since Jeff Hardy.

Basically Busch is playing the heel and Logano is playing the face.

Busch insults the crowd and Buffalo in general, then Logano puts Show in a match with Triple H.

Finally (thankfully) Jericho claims that he won the Bragging Rights trophy single handedly and Busch puts him in a match against Kofi Johnson.

That’s right, good old ‘Kofi Johnson’, a match that probably should have gone down at ‘SummerFest’.

Busch corrects himself and introduces Kofi Kingston, looks like that match is up next.

    Match 1

    Singles Match
    Chris Jericho
    Vs.
    Kofi Kingston

I have to admit I didn’t pay too much attention to the start of this match, partly because I’m still reeling over how bad tonight’s guest hosts actually were in that opening exchange.

I know the WWE are going for big names, but surely they should at least check they are capable of, oh I don’t know, getting people’s names remotely close to what they actually are.

Kingston seems to have had the upper hand most of the way through this match, which doesn’t really bode well for the Ghanaian Sensation.

Boom Drop from Kingston, but Jericho almost immediately goes for the Walls of Jericho.

Kofi escapes but gets hit with a big Enziguri.

Back and forth action now, Kingston hits a big Cross-Body from the top rope but Jericho rolls through and gets a 2 count.

Kofi goes for the Trouble in Paradise but Jericho catches him and again tries in vain to lock on the Walls of Jericho.

CodeBreaker! 1..2.. Kofi gets his foot on the bottom rope! Jericho thinks he’s won it.

While Jericho argues with the referee Kingston gets back to his feet and lands the Trouble in Paradise!

1..2..3! A huge victory for Kofi Kingston here tonight!

Bizarrely Randy Orton jumps Kingston as he heads up the ramp and tosses him into the staging and to the concrete below.

I wonder what that’s all about? Perhaps he blames Kofi for his title loss, after all he did run Legacy out of the arena as they were helping.

    Kofi Kingston wins by Pinfall.

    Segment 2

    Randy Orton Interviewed

Orton is walking backstage when Josh Mathews begins to tag alongside him.

Josh asks him to explain why he just attacked Kingston.

Randy says that Kofi had no business interfering in his match last night and if it hadn’t been for him, he would still be WWE Champion.

Orton says that while others might see it as an attack, he see’s it as justice and rest assured he has only just started on Kofi Kingston.

Legacy show up and Orton tells Mathews to leave.

He asks what they want and they tell him they feel the same as he does and they’ve bought him a gift.

They reveal a custom stock car with Orton plastered all over the bonnet.

Orton seems unable to take his eyes off his own image and seems shocked that they have bought the car for him.

Finally, DiBiase says that they have another surprise for him tonight involving John Cena, stating that it might not be long before the WWE Championship comes back to Legacy.

    Segment 3

    Cheap Plug Time

Meanwhile, in the Guest Host’s office Eve is enquiring about some race or another that the two are involved in (can you tell I don’t follow Nascar?) when Jack Swagger enters.

He says it’s an honour to meet them and explains that they have a lot in common as they are all natural winners.

Swagger says that he’s here to discuss Cena. Logano and Busch say that they can’t really swing him a title match tonight because Cena was in the ring for a whole hour at Bragging Rights, but confirm that they will be selecting a #1 contender at some point in the show.

Swagger then moves his attention to Eve, introducing himself as a future WWE Champion.

The Miz also enters the office and after shooting down Swagger, stakes his claim as #1 contender.

    Match 2

    Mixed Tag Team Match
    Santino Marella & Melina
    Vs.
    Chavo Guerrero & Jillian Hall

Before this match a promo plays stating that Sheamus will début on Raw tonight and afterwards Michael Cole explains that Raw picked him up as a free agent.

It’s nice to see the roster split being totally disregarded in order to pad out the Red Brand.

Anyone want to lay bets on how long it takes Hornswoggle to show up during this match? I’ll take the 3 minute mark.

Santino and Chavo have a nice exchange before tagging in the Divas, who battle for a few seconds before… Hornswoggle emerges, still in his DX gear. Sigh.

While Hornswoggle distracts Chavo, who in turn distracts the referee, Melina and Jillian have a complete botch-fest.

Melina goes for the Sunset Flip Powerbomb, but for some reason Jillian Hall leans incredibly far forward, almost causing Melina to land on her head and neck.

Melina covers it up well and hits the Primal Scream to get the win.

Hornswoggle jumps in the ring and celebrates with Melina and Santino, until a very official looking gentleman makes his way to the ring and hands over a bright green envelope.

Horny opens it and takes it to The King to read, who says that it is a cease and desist order from DX, explaining that he is no longer allowed to dress and act like DX.

The little guy mopes off looking sorry for himself as the show cuts to a commercial.

Santino Marella & Melina win by Pinfall.

    Segment 4

    The NEW WWE Cha…

The ring announcer builds up to a grand entrance for the new WWE Champion; John Cena, but before he can finish Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase emerge.

Once in the ring they play down Cena’s victory last night and explain that while Orton might not be able to challenge him for the title, it doesn’t stop either of them from bringing the gold back to Legacy.

DiBiase explains that they haven’t asked the Guest Hosts for a title match because they don’t need to, they are simply going to stand in the centre of the ring and call Cena out, which is what they proceed to do.

Cena finally gets to make his big entrance, although he doesn’t receive quite as large a pop as I think he would have expected, given the fantastic (yes I used Cena and fantastic in the same sentence) performance he and Orton put on last night.

Speaking of Cena, why not check out our Spotlight On John Cena article to find out just how he progressed from a rapping rookie to a WWE Champion.

Cena says he doesn’t need to brag about the match last night, then goes on to brag about the match last night for the best part of five minutes.

He says that they put on the match for themselves, for the crowd but more importantly, because they knew that the Orton/Cena feud had to end (Amen to that).

He then says that people tuning in to find out who the next contender is going to be will be disappointed if it is Randy Orton…’s Legacy.

Cody and Ted say that they are not Randy Orton and Cena agrees with them, but explains that last night he earned the right to say no more.

He tells the pair of them that they haven’t earned a shot at the title, but gives them a chance to prove themselves right now against…

    Mark Henry and M.V.P. Great.

Didn’t these guys beat DX? Isn’t that enough these days? When did M.V.P and Mark Henry leapfrog DX in the ‘teams to beat’ list?

    Match 3

    Tag Team Match
    Legacy
    Vs.
    M.V.P & Mark Henry

I like both M.V.P and Mark Henry but I just can’t help but feel they are wasted in this tag team.

Rhodes and DiBiase work well as a team, they came into the limelight together (if you forget about Rhodes’ brief stint with Hardcore Holly) and have very similar styles, but what’s more important is neither of them have had singles success.

Mark Henry and M.V.P have achieved much more as singles athletes and joining forces to create a dead end tag team seems like a huge step backwards.

Hell, I remember when Mark Henry double-crossed D’lo Brown and got the European Championship gifted to him by Jeff Jarret, even then he had more credibility than he does in this tag team.

Long story short Legacy lost this one thanks to a cheap shot from Mark Henry, although I’m not sure it’s classed as a cheap shot if the face team do it.

After the match Randy Orton slowly made his way down to the ring.

Once there he talks about the guest hosts looking for a new #1 contender and says that he doesn’t care about the conditions of the title match last night, he deserves a rematch and he wants one.

Orton says he will go all the way to the board of directors if he has to, but as he rants on Kofi Kingston appears on the titantron.

Kofi tells him that he lost and he should face it because no one cares what he has to say.

Orton tells him to come down to the ring and say it to his face, to which Kofi responds he already is.

The camera pans out and shows that Kofi is standing on the bonnet of Orton’s brand new stock car.

Kingston then proceeds to destroy the car and dump a bucket full of bright orange paint all over the hood.

M.V.P & Mark Henry win by Pinfall.

    Match 4

    Singles Match
    Evan Bourne
    Vs.
    The Miz

Eve is the guest ring announcer for this one. Either they are planning on building a Miz/Eve storyline, or they just can’t find anything better for her to do.

The Miz has started this one dominantly, grounding Bourne and locking in a punishing submission hold that almost has him bent double.

Bourne refuses to give in and battles out, taking control of the match with his unique fast paced style.

As The Miz begins to regain the upper hand Jack Swagger makes his way to ringside.

Once there he grabs a microphone and tells Miz that no one is watching his match, because everyone has their eyes on Eve, or rather Eve looking at Swagger.

The Miz drops Bourne and exits the ring to square up to Swagger while the referee begins to count him out.

Bourne recovers and springboards over the top rope, taking out both Superstars before sliding back into the ring just in time to avoid the count out, something The Miz isn’t able to do.

Just a second, doesn’t exiting the ring break the count? Ah well, I guess that’s only a rule when they want it to be.

Evan Bourne wins by Count Out.

    Match 5

    Singles Match
    Jamie Noble
    Vs.
    Sheamus

Before this match it was announced that The Ozbournes (Sharon and Ozzy) will host Raw next week! That’s more like it!

It looks like Noble, who I don’t recall seeing for a while, is on jobbing duty tonight.

Before the match Sheamus said he was planning on making a good first impression, and I’ve got a feeling he might make good on that claim.

I’m a bit disappointed in this move. The Sheamus/Shelton Benjamin feud was just heating up and the two were more than capable of delivering a good match.

Sheamus is completely controlling this match, I don’t think Noble’s offence has extended much past a kick to the gut in the opening seconds.

Pump Kick! It’s all over. Sheamus picks up his first win on The Red Brand and did indeed make a good first impression.

We’ll see how he does when he has to start fighting some real matches.

    Sheamus wins by Pinfall.

    Main Event Match

    Singles Match
    The Big Show (w/Chris Jericho)
    Vs.
    Triple H (w/Shawn Michaels)

Before the match gets under way Triple H grabs a microphone and and explains that the guest hosts have changed the rules slightly and now this will be a Lumberjack Match.

Triple H introduces the lumberjacks as all the people Show screwed over last night.

As a selection of Raw Superstars head down to the ring Jericho beats a hasty retreat through the crowd, leaving Show all on his own.

HBK then informs everyone that this is a No-Disqualification match, so they can do pretty much anything they like and then tells the referee he won’t be needed as they have a guest official lined up; John Cena.

Finally the match gets started and Triple H immediately low bridges Show, allowing the Lumberjacks to get in a few shots before he powers out and beats down about 50% of the guys on the outside.

Back in the ring after commercials, Triple H goes for a Body Slam but can’t hold the mass of The Big Show, who comes crashing down on top of him.

Spear from Show, who decides to continue delivering a beating rather than going for the cover.

Show continues to dominate as the Lumberjacks try to spur The Game back into life.

Chris masters grabs Show’s ankles and takes a severe beat down as a result, being knocked out with the Right Hand.

However, this distraction gives Triple H the chance to recover and after a huge DDT he grabs a 2 count.

Pedigree coming…but Show reverses it with a big Back Body Drop then hits the 2nd rope Splash! 1..2.. Cena stops counting, feigning an injury.

The Lumberjacks are in the ring now!

Double Dropkick from Primo & Chavo, Splashes from Swagger, Miz & Mark Henry, Drive By from M.V.P, Shooting Star Press from Evan Bourne, Santino takes a Chokeslam, Trouble in Paradise from Kofi Kingston, Attitude Adjustment from Cena!

    Wow.

Triple H puts a Smackdown T-Shirt around Show’s neck and pretty much everyone in the arena begins to call for a Sweet Chin Music, which Michaels dutifully delivers.

The Game hits a Pedigree and covers for the 3.

As Raw celebrate Busch and Logano emerge to deliver their verdict on the #1 contendership.

They explain that they couldn’t agree on a decision until one person made them see it more clearly.

Hornswoggle joins them on the ramp, still dressed in his DX gear, enraging Triple H.

The two guest hosts announce that at Survivor Series Cena will defend his WWE Championship against… DX in a Triple Threat Match.

Well, that was the worst guest hosting I’ve seen, bar none. I’m just glad they kept them out of the show for the most part.

Goodnight everybody and don’t forget to look out for the Weekly Informer tomorrow!

    Triple H wins by Pinfall.
