    The Raw Review

    Opening Segment

    Snoops In Charge

Unsurprisingly Snoop’s got something to promote tonight and it only takes a matter of seconds for us to find out what it is when the ring announcer tells everyone that ‘Malice In Wonderland’ his 10th studio album will be in stores in December.

Snoop makes a rather suave entrance in a sharp pink motor with some nice spinners, flanked by The Bella Twins and Eve.

Once in the ring Snoop says its a big honour to host Raw tonight as he’s a big fan of both the WWE and the red brand.

He says Raw is going to ‘embarrass the hell’ out of Smackdown on Sunday, before moving onto tonight possibly being Cena’s last night on Raw, explaining that he’s booked him in a match against Triple H.

With that in mind he announces that it’s only fair that Orton fights too, so he’ll be in a match against DiBiase, should be an interesting one following the climax of the tag match last week.

Finally Snoop says that HBK and Jericho will face off before introducing DX, who emerge to a huge response and take over proceedings.

    Segment 2

    DX Vs. Team Smackdown

DX take over and after speaking a little ‘Snoop’, move onto Team Smackdown.

They dissect the team one by one, mentioning:

    - How they have both beaten Jericho at WrestleMania

    - The Katie Vick storyline with regards to Kane

    - How Cryme Tyme can be found outside arena’s selling Smackdown tickets that no one wants

    - The Blonde guy who always introduces himself, but who’s name escapes Triple H’s memory

    - How Drew McIntyre is a future champion

    and finally…

    - That no one knows who Escobar is, but he’s bound to be tough if he’s ‘boffing Vickie Guerrero’ (Triple H’s words, not mine)

Triple H then says that if you’re going to sleep your way to the top, at least do it with someone who weighs less than you.

HBK then points out that Triple H would know all about that.

DX then bring out Team Raw, who look strangely cohesive considering their heel/face alignments.

DX go down the line of participants, building all of them up apart from Cody Rhodes who they choose to ignore and has to introduce himself.

Rhodes says that as far as he is concerned DX are captains in name only and on Sunday he’s not going to listen to a word they say, because if the captaincy was handed out based on pure talent there’s no doubt that he would be in charge.

He says that he might not even tag anyone in and beat Smackdown all on his own, prompting The Big Show to step in and deliver a few home truths, saying if anyone looks like letting the team down he will personally take them out himself.

Henry is next to step into the fray, asking the giant if that was a threat then saying they will have a problem if it was.

Swagger jumps in and says that while they might be the biggest members of the team, athletically he is miles ahead of both of them.

Just as Team Raw look like imploding Kofi grabs a microphone and calms tensions, saying this is what Team Smackdown want and they all need to work together.

His accent was noticeably more American than it usually is and Triple H asked him what had happened to his Jamaican twang.

Finally Triple H threw a little curveball, saying that up next there would be a 5 on 5 tag team match and if any member of Team Raw got pinned they would be classed as a weak link and replaced by the person that pinned them.

    Match 1

    Team Raw Warm Up Match
The Big Show, Kofi Kingston, Cody Rhodes, Mark Henry & Jack Swagger
    Vs.
Chris Masters, Evan Bourne, M.V.P, Chavo Guerrero & Primo

This match was incredibly fast paced and for a while I thought there might be a little alteration to the Raw Team.

Although Team Raw were at each others throats for the majority of the match, they were still able to pick up the victory, but it came at a cost.

Cody Rhodes hit the CrossRhodes and looked to be going for the cover when Jack Swagger tagged himself in and picked up the victory.

This sparked an all out brawl between the Raw team mates, which only The Big Show ended in an upright position, hitting Mark Henry with a Spear and leaving the dominant member.

The Big Show, Kofi Kingston, Cody Rhodes, Mark Henry & Jack Swagger win by Pinfall.

    Segment 3

    Ted DiBiase Interviewed

Backstage Josh Mathews asks if his victory over Randy Orton has affected his relationship with his Legacy stablemates.

DiBiase says that he didn’t do anything last week that Orton wouldn’t have done himself.

Mathews asks how Randy has reacted and DiBiase explains that he hasn’t been answering his calls.

Orton then shows up and tells DiBiase that in their match tonight he is going to show him the respect he deserves, by laying down and not fighting back.

Orton says that if he does this he just might let him keep his place in Legacy, but if he does decide to take another opportunity it will be the biggest mistake of his life.

    Match 2

    Singles Match
    Ted DiBiase
    Vs.
    Randy Orton

After a very tense stand-off Orton strikes with a kick to the midsection and then a European Uppercut, before telling DiBiase not to fight back while he stamps on him.

Orton asks DiBiase if he wants to hit him, and after a few moments DiBiase gets back to his feet and in the champions face.

Orton pie-faces DiBiase a few times, each one making the young superstar angrier, until he snaps and shoves his mentor to the floor, gaining a rousing ovation from the crowd.

However, despite the crowd getting behind him, he fails to follow up and again refuses to fight, taking a RKO and losing the match by pinfall.

This was almost like torture and a bit awkward to watch at times, it doesn’t look like it will be long before Legacy implodes.

    Randy Orton wins by Pinfall.

    Segment 4

    Captain Lou Albano R.I.P

A tribute video played for Lou Albano who sadly passed away last week.

I have to admit I don’t think I’ve ever seen any matches the Captain was involved in, and if I have I’m struggling to remember them, but despite this I’m well aware how influential he was in making the WWE what it is today.

I’d just like to say on behalf of the WWEBlog team that we think it is a great loss and we offer our sympathy to the friends and relatives he has left behind.

I’m not sure if he’s already in the WWE Hall of Fame, but I’m betting he’ll be inducted this year if he isn’t.

    Segment 5

    Snoop and Swoggle

Backstage Snoop is relaxing with his entourage (and plugging his CD) when Hornswoggle appears still dressed as HBK.

Snoop tells him to make sure he does what he told him to do tonight (cryptic) before Chavo walks in.

He tells Snoop that he wants to be part of Team Raw and goes into his ‘I’m a Guerrero’ speech.

Jillian Hall then interrupts and asks for a Divas Championship re-match, delivering her version of Gin n’ Juice.

It was here that things took a stranger turn (if that’s even possible) as Santino entered dressed like… Charlie Brown?!

Santino says that last time he and Snoop got off on the wrong foot, but tonight he dressed as his friend Charlie Brown and hopes that they can get back on good terms.

Snoop then kicked everyone out of his office and asked Eve for his ‘bag’ as it’s time to light up.

After a ‘Technical Difficulties’ board that showed Hornswoggle and Michael Cole, the action returned to Snoop’s office where he had sparked up… a selection of scented candles, citing his favourite as ‘fresh cut grass’.

    Match 3

    Singles Match
    John Cena
    Vs.
    Triple H

I’m surprised this wasn’t the main event to be honest, could this be a sign that this WON’T be Cena’s final night on Raw?

Cena did look pretty emotional as he stood in the ring waiting for Triple H to arrive, but then I saw 12 Rounds the other day and I know how well this guy can act.

Joking aside, I thought 12 Rounds was pretty good actually, a lot better than I expected and certainly ranked higher than ‘See No Evil’ on the list of WWE Studios movies.

I’d have honestly rather seen Cena face someone he’s actually got some sort of rivalry with, perhaps not Orton but certainly Legacy or someone like Jericho, I’m not a huge fan of the face Vs. face match.

While this match trundles on I’ll take this time to plug a couple of our other articles, but I’ll tie it in at the end I promise.

Last week’s début edition of the ‘Weekly Informer‘ delivered some first class gossip which later proved to be true, but the question is will The Informant be as accurate in this week’s edition which is due tomorrow.

If you haven’t already, why not check out our ‘Spotlight On Chris Jericho‘ article, which covers the 2008 Superstar of the Year’s rise to glory from his arrival in the WWE to claiming the Unified Tag Team Championships with The Big Show.

Also, the Spotlight On John Cena article should be up within the next couple of days, so keep checking back for that one! Told you I’d tie it in at the end.

Back in the ring Triple H looked to be in charge after a commercial break, driving his shoulder into Cena’s midsection in the corner, wearing the #1 contender down just days before the gruelling Iron Man match.

After failed attempts at the Attitude Adjustment and STF, Cena finally locks it in right in the centre of the ring, but Triple H has the wherewithal to crawl to the ropes and moments later hits the Pedigree.

Cena also uses his ring-smarts and gets his foot on the bottom rope to break the count.

After the commercials Triple H locks in the SharpShooter, but Cena makes it to the ropes as Randy Orton watches on in the back.

As the match reaches the 20 minute mark, Cena begins to mount some serious offence and hits the 5 Knuckle Shuffle, but Triple H once again avoids the Attitude Adjustment and turns the tables with a trademark High Knee.

The Game hits the Spinebuster followed by another Pedigree, but Cena refuses to quit and kicks out.

Attitude Adjustment! But Triple H matches his counterpart and kicks out as well.

Cena attempts the top rope Legdrop but Triple H avoids it and lands a 3rd Pedigree which finally seals the victory.

Actually this was a pretty impressive match, not quite a Match of the Year contender but close to it.

After the bell Triple H helps Cena to his feet and shakes his hand.

The #1 contender then stands in the ring for a while before slowly making his way up the ramp, saluting the fans and adding more fuel to the ‘Cena’s leaving Raw’ fire.

    Triple H wins by Pinfall.

    Match 4

    Singles Match
    The Miz
    Vs.
    Marty Jannetty

Just as The Miz was about to take on some ‘Local Talent’ ECW style, Snoop appeared on the titantron and told him to press pause.

He said that the whole ‘Marty Jannetty’ thing on Smackdown wasn’t cool because he was a good performer and he is also… The Miz’s opponent tonight.

The ‘Local Talent’ left the ring and a rather rotund Jannetty made his way to the ring.

While Jannetty might not look quite as good as he used to, he showed in this match that he can still wrestle a pretty good match, although he still suffered defeat at the hands of the Skull Crushing Finale.

King and Cole then plugged Smackdown Vs. Raw 2010, which is out tomorrow in the States, where as we in the UK have to wait while Friday.

    Yes I’m very jealous.

They plugged it by showing a Create-A-Superstar of Snoop Dogg, which looked more like a thug from Def Jam Vendetta than the usually blinged out Snoop.

    The Miz wins by Pinfall.

    Match 5

    Divas Championship Match
    Jillian Hall (w/Chavo Guerrero)
    Vs.
    Melina (c)

A 3 on 3 Divas match was announced for Bragging Rights before this match, and Michael Cole explained that if Jillian won, she would take Melina’s place in that match.

I’m not sure why he bothered though, as a few minutes later Melina retained the gold.

Chavo made a nuisance of himself throughout the short match, until Hornswoggle appeared from under the ring in some ‘gangsta’ attire, removing Chavo from the apron long enough for Melina to get the win.

After the match Chavo grabbed Swoggle but Snoop hit the ring before he could do any damage.

Chavo pushed Snoop a couple of times, prompting the guest host to drill him with a Clothesline, sending him tumbling over Hornswogle who had knelt down behind Guererro.

The two then squared off until Snoop hit a pretty good Spear, ending the confrontation.

Divas then filled the ring and danced with Snoop and ‘SnoopSwoggle’, and let me tell you, that little guy can move.

    Melina wins by Pinfall.

    Main Event Match

    Singles Match
    Shawn Michaels
    Vs.
    Chris Jericho

Kyle Busch and Joey Logano of Nascar fame will be guest hosting Raw next week.

To us fans in the U.K that doesn’t mean a whole lot, but I guess they are a big deal Stateside.

Raw is really running late tonight, the show should technically be over by now, but we haven’t even kicked off the main event yet.

While Jericho and HBK make their way to the ring King announces that he will be representing Raw on Smackdown this week, joining up with his old buddy JR to call the action.

Seems like an odd thing to do, perhaps Todd Grisham has requested some time off too. JR did have last week off after all.

Before the match got under way Jericho grabbed a microphone.

He told HBK that he could knock HBK out right now and send Team Raw a message, but he isn’t going to do that as Team Smackdown already have an insurmountable advantage by having him as captain.

Jericho says his team is a well oiled machine with only one objective in mind; defeating Team Raw.

Cryme Tyme then make their way through the crowd, closely followed by Kane who leads Dolph Ziggler, Eric Escobar and Drew McIntyre to the ring.

Jericho starts to say something when Team Raw appear, seemingly back on the same page.

Team Raw hit the ring and after a short stand-off Triple H congratulates Jericho on giving Team Raw something to agree on, the fact that they don’t like Smackdown.

Triple H says that while they might have walked onto this show, they are about to get kicked off it.

Vickie Guerrero then screeches her way out from the back and after taking some serious heat from the crowd, says that as an official consultant for Team Smackdown she won’t allow a brawl to break out, ordering ‘her’ team to leave the arena right now.

Triple H tells Jericho to do as he’s told because he doesn’t want to get in trouble, but then tells him that actually he is in trouble because Team Raw don’t work for Vickie Guerrero.

Triple H hits Jericho with a big right hand and a full scale brawl breaks out as the camera’s stop rolling.

This match never got going, so I guess it was a no-contest.

Match ends in a No Contest.
