    Segment 1

    The Nexus 5

Hello everybody and welcome to the LIVE Raw Review on the 6th of September, Labour Day as I’m led to believe.

Nexus are in the ring when the show comes on air, and it looks like Wade Barrett has something to say.

He says it’s fitting that tonight’s show is from Washington D.C, the site of numerous historic rallies and ground-breaking speeches.

He talks about how they dominated The Undertaker last week, then shows a clip just to confirm that it actually did happen.

David Otunga takes over afterwards and smugly describes them as the new phenoms of the WWE, having the greatest night of their lives last week despite trimming the fat with Darren Young and losing Skip Sheffield to injury.

Tarver takes over and says that if anyone else had done what they did to Taker, they’d sit back and take credit for what they’d done for the rest of their careers, but they didn’t, they came out and defeated 5 of the top names on Raw.

He says that Edge and Jericho were so scared of them that they took themselves out of the match before it even got going, then passed the microphone to the nauseating Heath Slater who talks about how he pinned the WWE Champion; Sheamus.

Next up for a bragging session is Justin Gabriel, who boasts about hitting both The Undertaker and John Cena with his finisher in the same night (again backing it up with a slow-mo clip of his picture perfect 450 Splash on Cena.)

He says every time he hits it, it gets more and more satisfying, then babbles on in his uncharismatic fashion about how Cena can see him crashing down on him from the top rope.

Finally Barrett takes control of the microphone once more to first brag about ‘de-venomising’ The Viper then claim he guarantees victory at Night Of Champions.

However, just as he draws to the end of his promise Randy Orton’s music hits and he makes his way out from behind the curtain.

Orton says he took out 2 of The Nexus in less than 30 seconds and says that although Barrett isn’t likely to roll footage of that, it doesn’t matter because he’ll happily do it again.

He says that he doesn’t care who he pins at Night of Champions to become the WWE Champion, but he’s going to make it his business to hit Barrett with an RKO.

Barrett tells him to put his money where his mouth is and come to the ring…

    *TINKLE*

Cole hops up onto his podium and announces that although last week might have been a successful week for Nexus as a unit, tonight they are going to find out how good they are on their own.

Justin Gabriel will square off against John Cena and Randy Orton will face Wade Barrett, with the stipulation that Nexus are banned from ringside during both bouts.

    Match 1

    Singles Match
    Chris Jericho
    Vs.
    John Morrison

Before Jericho could even get himself in the ring…

    *TINKLE*

Cole explained that last week when Jericho and Edge walked out of the main event it was a slap to the face of Raw, and to him as a General Manager.

So, with that in mind, if either Edge or Jericho lose their respective matches tonight they will be REMOVED from the Six Pack Challenge at Night of Champions.

Upon hearing this Jericho went kinda crazy, demanding Michael Cole tell him who the anonymous G.M is.

The WWEBlog Informant doesn’t have any information on who the Raw G.M is (believe me, I asked) but he does have some news on Mr. Jericho:

    Hello WWEBlog faithful!

I hope you’re enjoying Raw, just a quick bit of gossip-cum-speculation for you tonight.

Last week Jericho announced to the world that if he didn’t win at Night of Champions, he would walk away from Raw and indeed the WWE.

Now, when many heard this their first thoughts were ‘typical Jericho angle, it’s happened like 100 times’, and I have to admit I thought something similar.

But then I started to do a little digging, and noticed there were quite a few signs that Night of Champions, or perhaps even Raw tonight might be Jericho’s last appearance for a while.

The man formerly known as Y2J has recently expressed his desire to return to his music, and although he has done brief stints being a dual sports/rock star, previous form tends to suggest he prefers to focus on one or the other.

Further to that, Jericho has a DVD coming out very soon, and these things tend to tie in with a big angle, sometimes even a ‘retirement’ bit.

There’s no solid evidence, but I just have a hunch.

    - The Informant

During The Informant’s snippet there Jericho has taken control of the match, while shouting ‘who is it’ at Michael Cole at any and every opportunity.

Back from commercials now and Morrison has taken the upper hand.

Flying Chuck! 1..2.. Jericho barely kicks out.

Jericho goes for a CodeBreaker, but Morrison avoids it by grabbing the ropes. Seconds later Jericho hits a running Enziguri for a 2 count.

Morrison turns the tables once again and goes for the Starship Pain, but Jericho dodges it and The Monday Night Delight looked like he tweaked his knee!

Walls of Jericho! Morrison is thinking about tapping… No! He crawls to the ropes… and just manages to get there and have the referee break the hold.

Both men are battling on the top rope now… Morrison comes out on top; STARSHIP PAIN!

    1..2..3!

Jericho is OUT of the Night of Champions Six-Pack Challenge.

Jericho looks seriously dejected, he took a long sit on the ring steps before leaving up the ramp.

I’ll bet good money Edge defeats R-Truth later in the show.

    John Morrison wins by Pinfall.

    Match 2

    Divas Championship Match
    Melina (c)
    Vs.
    Alicia Fox

Alicia’s got a microphone, wonder if she’ll have anything interesting to say.

    …Nope.

She botched some dialogue about becoming the ‘undefined’ champion of Divas, bragged about having a load of Twitter followers, then said she will become the most fierce Divas Champion in history.

Cole and King covered for her ‘undefined’ gaffe with some humour as the bell rang.

I really don’t get why they have these matches.

    Melina’s feuding with Lay-Cool, Alicia isn’t.

Melina’s in the graphic for Night of Champions, Alicia isn’t.

So how are we ever meant to believe she has even the slightest chance of taking the title tonight?

About 30 seconds into the bout and Alicia has taken a beating and decided to leave.

Melina cuts her off but momentarily loses control of the match, only to regain it and win with the Sunset Flip.

    Surprise Surprise.

I wonder which title they’ll keep after the ‘undefining’? It’s a tricky decision because the Womens Championship is in two halves, but on the flip side the Divas Championship is hideous.

Melina wins by Pinfall and retains the Divas Championship.

    Segment 2

    The Road to Awesome

Backstage Josh Mathews is standing by with The Miz, and what appears to be a picture covered with a black drape.

The Miz says that whatever is under the drape is ‘perfect’, then says that the entire world will know about ‘The Journey to the Road of Awesome’.

Matthews tries to get a peek under the black sheet, but Miz slaps him on the wrists and tells him to leave.

    Segment 3

    Edge’s Excuse

Backstage Edge is ranting to Zack Ryder about how Jericho has already been removed from the Six Pack Challenge.

He says that he shouldn’t even have to fight for his place tonight just for shoving a referee, because although no one else heard it the official said derogatory things about his mother under his breath, and deserved the attack.

Ryder, after hinting he might have a thing for Edge’s mum, says that as a former #1 contender he understands his animosity and says that he’d like to be Edge’s opponent tonight because he understands the value of title matches.

Edge says that up until now he thought Ryder was a tool, but that’s a great idea because he’s an easy win.

Ryder looks a little annoyed, but Edge continues regardless and tells the anonymous G.M, wherever he may be, that he accepts Ryder’s challenge and if he isn’t his designated opponent later tonight then he’ll take it out on the G.M’s laptop.

Finally, Ryder asks if Edge called him a tool, then says that it really hurt his feelings.

    Segment 4

    Million Dollar Desire

Elsewhere backstage Ted DiBiase is on the phone, telling someone he loves spending time with them, when Maryse enters.

She asks who he’s talking to and he says that it’s his Mom.

She says to DiBiase ‘me too’, then reveals that she found a note in his limo that says ‘I want you so bad’.

Ted asks why he would write a note when he could just tell her to her face, then says that the note is clearly for him because there are lots of people that would love to be in her shoes.

Maryse gets annoyed and begins to rant in French, prompting DiBiase to tell her that he doesn’t understand a word and is leaving.

    Match 3

    Singles Match
    John Cena
    Vs.
    Justin Gabriel

    Great news!

While we were waiting for Cena to make his entrance, Cole and King announced that RAW ROULETTE will return next week!

    I can’t wait!

The bell rings and we’re under-way here.

I still don’t know about Gabriel. He’s very impressive in the ring, but his microphone work is so dire it’s unbelievable and I don’t see any signs of progression at all.

Sure there have been loads of guys who have made it with very little charisma when they first started out, but they pretty much all improved, and I don’t see that from him.

Nexus is a good set-up for him, although I think his image and style lends itself more towards a face persona and I expect when the whole Nexus thing dies down he’ll either get released or turned face pretty damn quickly.

Gabriel is firmly in control here at the minute, scoring another 2 count over Cena after an impressive Plancha-Cross Body.

He has a bizarre submission hold locked in now, Cena’s powered out of it with authority but instantly gets reversed into a Sit-Down Powerbomb.

Gabriel goes for one of the sweetest looking Springboard Moonsault’s I’ve ever seen, but Cena rolls out of the way and immediately turns things in his favour.

    5-Knuckle Shuffle!

Cena’s setting up for the Attitude Adjustment… But Gabriel rolls off his back!

Gabriel is setting up for the 450… but Cena’s up to the top rope like a flash to stop him!

Cena has Gabriel on his shoulders! Attitude Adjustment from the 2nd rope! 1..2..3.

Nice stuff from Gabriel, very nice. It’s a shame he’s just missing that 1 vital aspect that’s stopping him being the complete package.

We’re being treated to clips of John Cena’s latest film ‘Legendary’ next, so don’t expect any updates for a few minutes.

    John Cena wins by Pinfall.

    Segment 5

    The Real Road to Awesome

It’s time for The Miz’s WWE life story.

He explains how when he first came to the WWE, as a reality TV star, everyone said he had no right to be in the organisation, so he had to start right at the bottom on Tough Enough.

Apparently the voices began to get louder and so he did whatever was necessary to make it, becoming the host of Smackdown (it’s funny I don’t remember that at all), before teaming up with John Morrison, becoming one half of the tag team champions and eventually the United States Champion.

However this still wasn’t enough, and it took the Money in the Bank victory for people to finally start respecting him for the Superstar that he is.

Finally, after much teasing he revealed what was hidden under the black shroud; a blown-up cover of the WWE Magazine with him emblazoned all over the cover.

He said that now he finally has the cover of WWE Magazine, he wants to hear every single person in the arena admit they were wrong, that he does deserve to be here and that he is the poster-child of the WWE, because he’s The Miz and he has earned the right to say he’s Awesome!

Great promo from The Miz as usual.

Some unfamiliar, generic music hits, and it turns out it’s Daniel Bryan.

Bryan hits the ring and tells The Miz to relax because he’s out here to congratulate him.

He says that they have a lot in common because no one thought he’d make it either, but The Miz shoots him down and says he hasn’t because he hasn’t done anything of worth in the WWE.

Bryan says he’s probably right because he just came out to generic rock music, with a $10 haircut and he’s had to wear his wrestling gear backstage all night to stop security throwing him out.

He says that the one thing he is sure of is that if they had a match for the U.S Title, he’d win.

Miz asks what he’s done to deserve a shot at the gold, and Bryan says he probably hasn’t done enough, but if he did then the next issue of WWE Magazine might look like a mock up he’s had made, showing Miz tapping out.

Miz tells Bryan that he doesn’t like him, never has, never will and assures him that he can beat him so badly he’ll send him back to the minor leagues.

Bryan asks for a U.S title match and demands a yes or no answer, and The Miz answers yes.

Miz swings for him with the microphone, but Bryan ducks it and starts to lock on his Submission hold until Alex Riley appears out of nowhere to break it up.

Bryan fights him off, dumps Miz over the top rope then locks his Submission on Riley instead, making him tap while The Miz looked on from the apron.

Finally with Miz half way up the ramp Bryan kicked the big magazine cover over, sending a message to his new Night of Champions opponent.

    Match 4

    Singles Match
    Edge
    Vs.
    The Great Khali (w/Ranjin Singh)

Things are getting technical here on Raw.

Michael Cole just revealed that not only does he receive messages from the G.M on the laptop, he also gets them on his Blackberry too!

In fact he got a message during the break that revealed the winner of tonight’s main event will take on John Cena next week.

As you probably guessed, Edge’s opponent tonight isn’t Zack Ryder, it’s The Great Khali.

Edge initially made a bee-line for the laptop, as he said he would, but for some reason didn’t destroy it.

Edge then wandered around ringside mocking Khali, before turning his attention to Ranjin Singh (anyone remember when he started turning heel?), which drew the ire of Khali.

Khali followed Edge to the outside, where the Ultimate Opportunist kicked him in the knee and sprinted back to the ring to win by count out.

As Edge celebrated his victory in the ring…

    *TINKLE*

The G.M clearly wasn’t happy about Edge’s ‘cheap’ count-out victory, so he re-started the match with a No-DQ, over the top rope challenge stipulation.

    Match 4.1

    Over the Top Rope Challenge
    Edge
    Vs.
    The Great Khali (w/Ranjin Singh)

Things just got a lot trickier for the Rated R Superstar, but I’ve got a feeling the No-DQ stipulation will play right into his hands.

Edge slides under the ropes early, then Khali follows him by stepping over the top rope, eliminating himself.

Cole seems to be the only person who realises this though, and then King explains that as it’s an Over the Top Rope Challenge he has to be dumped over the top rope.

Seconds later Khali does exactly the same thing after dumping Edge through the ropes, but this time Edge pulled him over and got the win.

    Crazy, ridiculous, controversial crap there.

Why even have Khali step over the top rope and confuse things in the first place?

Unless Edge was meant to drag him off the apron the first time and forgot or something.

    Edge wins by Elimination.

    Segment 6

    Chris Jericho Interviewed

Backstage Josh Mathews caught up with a dejected Chris Jericho.

He asked him about the claim he made last week, about walking away from the WWE if he didn’t win the WWE Championship at Night of Champions, and what his future plans are now he has no chance of winning.

Jericho refused to utter even a single word, and so Mathews left.

Next John Morrison entered and sat down next to the former Superstar of the Year.

Morrison asked him if he still thinks he’s the best in the world at what he does, then assures him rather condescendingly that things will get better.

Jericho scowls at Morrison and the pair sit silent as the cameras cut away.

    Main Event Match

    Singles Match
    Randy Orton
    Vs.
    Wade Barrett

    Wow, main event time already?

Tonight’s show has just flown by.

WWE Champion Sheamus, Edge AND John Cena have all joined King and Cole for this big main event match, although how long it’s going to run is anyone’s guess, as we’re already practically at the end of Raw’s designated time slot and the competitors aren’t even in the ring yet!

Finally both competitors are in the ring and we’re ready to go, with literally less than 2 minutes to go, I guess WWE will be making the most of the 15 minute cushion tonight.

Orton kicks off on the offensive, beating Barrett into the corner then knocking him down with a big Shoulder/Clothesline.

    We’re on the outside already!

Orton is bouncing Barrett off the announce table right in front of the other three guys.

Back in the ring at the count of 7 and Orton is looking completely dominant, stomping around Barrett, generally toying with him.

Big Boot from Barrett, the momentum has just swung in 2 seconds flat.

Sheamus, Cena and Edge are all arguing about the ‘Five Pack Challenge’, as I guess it’s now known.

The Celtic Warrior is bleating about the match not being fair, saying his poor granny has been saying 50 hail marys a day back in Ireland because the odds are so stacked against him.

Back and forth in the ring at the minute, no one can seem to get the upper hand for longer than a few seconds at the time.

Barrett goes for Wasteland, but Orton avoids it!

The Viper is back in control again, big Scoop Slam in the centre of the ring.

Orton goes for the Rope Assisted DDT, but Barrett dumps him over the top rope.

Wow! More generic theme music, this time Darren Young’s.

Young emerges with a microphone and says something about Barrett regretting exiling him from Nexus.

He says he’s going to show why he isn’t the Weakest Link, but he’s the Missing Link, but all he actually does is distract Barrett long enough for Orton to hit the ring and the RKO for the 1..2..3.

After the match Orton calls Young into the ring, then drills him with a somewhat un-neccassary RKO.

Sheamus and Edge both try to jump The Viper, but he dodges both and delivers another pair of RKO’s, bringing his tally for the night up to 4.

Orton Vs. Cena next week, that’ll be nice and original.

The pair have a stand-off in the ring, but neither man strikes and the show comes to an end.

    Randy Orton wins by Pinfall.
