Segment 1
Striker’s Introduction
With the Pro’s all perched at the top of the ramp (Mark Henry with a microphone to his lips for some reason, despite not actually saying anything) Matt Striker brings all the Rookies out while Cole and Mathews make random comments about each one.
Fans of Eli Cottonwood will be happy to know that he’s grown a Moustache and got a t-shirt emblazoned with the word.
Tonight the Rookies get a minute each to talk about any topic they like OTHER than why they shouldn’t be voted off.
Lucky Cannon started proceedings by talking about ‘Friends’. He cut a strange promo about having a friend called nobody while the crowd mercilessly booed him, making all his comments about finally having people who care about him seem like a bit of a mistake.
Eli Cottonwood went next and talked about ‘Eyes’, explaining how because of his size he can look into the eyes of anyone in the WWE, even The Deadman; The Undertaker.
Husky Harris struggled to form words at all, but chose himself as the topic, garbling on about how he’s the real deal even though he doesn’t really look like it, before pushing the whole body of a tank engine of a Ferrari crap again.
Kaval talked about ‘Dreams’, saying his dream was always to perform on the grandest stage of them all and even though people said it wouldn’t happen, he put in 10 years work as Low-Ki and proved them wrong.
Some sort of alarm went off in the arena during his bit, and for a second everyone (even the Rookies) seemed confused, but full credit to Kaval he carried on without a moments hesitation.
Michael McGillicutty refused to reveal what his topic was and used his minute to pick a fight with The Miz, who called him mediocre in a video package last week.
The Miz refused his challenge while that damn alarm went off again, telling him to get a contract if he really wants a match with the U.S Champ.
Alex Riley said his topic was Starbucks, but then spent a minute insulting his fellow competitors, branding Percy Watson a poor imitation of Eddie Murphy.
His big climax was somewhat ruined as he ran slightly over his minute and had to rush in his punchline, which was that the other guys were not Stars, but Starbucks employees.
I know. Deep, right?
Truth is though the guy can cut a very good promo.
Last but not least Percy Watson chose the topic ‘Having a good time’ then spent a minute churning out catchphrases while the crowd responded in a very lacklustre manner.
Shame too because he’s my favourite.
Match 1
Singles Match
‘Showtime’ Percy Watson (w/M.V.P)
Vs.
Zack Ryder
I’m in a bit of a rush this week (it’s been a hectic one with a few glitches having to be worked out of the system) so I’m not going to spend much time on the matches.
Amazingly Watson beat Ryder here with a Float-Over DDT, followed up closely with an impressive Jumping-Twisting Splash thingy.
He’s the first Rookie to beat a Pro in 1 on 1 competition this season, and I’d have to say he’s safe after that.
Percy Watson wins by Pinfall.
Segment 2
Re-Run
Backstage John Morrison and Eli Cottonwood (wearing matching Moustache t-shirts) decide to watch back the big guys obstacle run from last week.
Morrison seems to find the footage funny and tells his Rookie that people are calling him Eli Rottonwood after that run.
Cottonwood tells him that he’s not an acrobat and says that he isn’t worried about his match tonight against McGillicutty, because he’s got 1 word for him; Moustache.
I don’t get it either.
Match 2
Singles Match
Michael McGillicutty (w/Kofi Kingston)
Vs.
Eli Cottonwood (w/John Morrison)
Eli Cottonwood dominated this match almost completely, but the son of Mr. Perfect pleased all the ‘McGillibuddies’ by pulling out a win to maintain his undefeated streak and put Cottonwood worryingly close to the chop.
Michael McGillicutty wins by Pinfall.
Segment 3
The Tank and The Mini
After a woman with absolutely zero personality introduced a Kaval promo and it had finished playing, the cameras cut backstage where Lay-Cool are preparing their Rookie for his main event match.
Husky Harris blundered through and knocked into Kaval, leading to a minor dispute between the two.
Main Event Match
Singles Match
Kaval (w/Lay-Cool)
Vs.
Husky Harris (w/Cody Rhodes)
This was a relatively short match to say how well it was going.
After some back and forth action Husky Harris inadvertently knocked Lay-Cool from the apron (where the Pro’s apparently stand these days) then took advantage when Kaval took a second out to check on them.
He flattened Kaval with his Senton and picked up a much needed win.
Husky Harris wins by Pinfall.
Closing Segment
Pros Poll & Elimination
It’s poll time again, but rather than just revealing the results and getting it out of the way Matt Striker drags it out with talk of Michael McGillicutty’s immunity.
Finally he begins to reveal the results, which were as follows:
- Michael McGillicutty
- Kaval
- Alex Riley
- Percy Watson
- Lucky Cannon
- Husky Harris
- Eli Cottonwood
Some big changes in the table there, but the only part that matters is that Eli Cottonwood is out.
I’m kinda disappointed, because I think he was a bit different and could have brought something interesting to the Raw or Smackdown roster.
After the result Matt Striker asked him for his thoughts, but instead of answering Cottonwood went crazy and singlehandedly beat the crap out of all the other Rookies, before storming up the ramp and pushing his pro out of the way.
Next Matt Striker asked Husky Harris why he thought he was placing so low all the time.
Harris barked out something about it being his dream, then Striker went and asked McGillicutty how he feels.
Young Mr. Perfect said that he was going to finish NXT Season 2 with a whatever-0 record, then win the Heavyweight Championship.
Striker then asked Riley if he was worried when Cottonwood attacked him moments ago. He said he wasn’t, and he’s not worried about coming third because he knows that he’s better than the other two above him.
Riley and McGillicutty begin to brawl then for some unknown reason Cottonwood returned to ringside and began beating everyone up again as the show went off the air.
