Segment 1
Striker’s Introduction
Tonight’s first segment is very similar to last weeks, just with a slightly different line-up of Pro’s.
Obviously Carlito still isn’t here, given that he’s gone, but R-Truth is back this week, while C.M Punk is absent due to his gruelling match at Over the Limit.
The four remaining Rookies make their way to the ring and Striker does his usual spiel about how important it is to win NXT, reminding everyone that next week is the NXT season finale (yay, that means I might get an extra day a week off!)
Striker asks the four Rookies who should go home (yes, the same question they were asked on Raw yesterday.)
Barrett stuck to his reasoning from Raw, Gabriel changed his mind to Otunga and stated that it’s because he’s rubbish in the ring, Otunga changed his mind to Gabriel for being a glorified gymnast with no microphone skills and Heath Slater said Wade Barrett… because he’s got a bent nose.
No, sadly I’m not kidding.
Match 1
Tag Team Match
R-Truth & David Otunga
Vs.
Christian & Heath Slater
I’ll be honest I skipped through almost all this match.
David Otunga picked up somewhat of a shock win against the run of the match, rolling through a Slater Cross-Body to grab the 1..2..3.
R-Truth & David Otunga win by Pinfall.
Segment 2
The Public Apology
After the commercials Michael Cole is in the ring with four ‘security guards’.
After showing a montage of the tension building between him and Bryan, Cole bleats about how he’s been traumatised and that his attorneys have told him that he can sue DB for everything he’s worth.
However, if Bryan comes out and apologises he won’t do it.
Bryan comes to the ring and says there’s no need for the security because he’s just going to apologise and make things right.
Cole gets him to admit that he stepped over the line last week then rather foolishly dismisses his security to the outside of the ring.
Bryan says he’s truly sorry and the two shake hands, but then Bryan throws in the twist.
He says he’s sorry that Cole is the worst announcer in WWE history and after the security bursts into the ring to split them up, goes on a rant about how the WWE Management have done everything in their power to undermine him.
He says that Cole didn’t get the job behind the announce desk on merit and had no right to rip into him week after week, Cole says that he ripped him because he didn’t deserve it, and although he might be the best wrestler in the competition he wasn’t good enough to be in the WWE.
He tells him to stop blaming everyone else for his own failures and just accept that he ‘tapped out’ from the competition because he’s a loser with no heart.
Bryan set about Cole after this comment and briefly caught upto him on the outside of the ring, but the security quickly separated them and dragged Bryan up the ramp, while Cole laid on the floor holding his head and going ‘owww’ in a scene reminiscent of Peter Griffin in Family Guy.
As Bryan neared the top of the ramp The Miz told him he didn’t deserve to be there and he should just leave, which sparked another brawl between the pair of them.
Main Event Match
Singles Match
Justin Gabriel (w/Matt Hardy)
Vs.
Wade Barrett (w/Chris Jericho)
The voice of NXT; Matt Striker has taken Cole’s position on the announce table for this match, so I’m guessing Bryan did suitable damage in the 3-4 seconds he got his hands on him.
This match wasn’t bad, but I’d rather have seen Barrett pick up the win here.
Surprisingly Gabriel now has the best record of all the NXT Rookies. Surely he can’t win it though, he’s about as bland as Vladimir Kozlov’s ring attire.
Justin Gabriel wins by Pinfall.
Closing Segment
The Elimination
Straight into the elimination Pro’s Poll tonight:
- Wade Barrett
- David Otunga
- Justin Gabriel
- Heath Slater
As soon as I knew Barrett and Otunga were safe I knew this would be a good result for me, as I don’t like either of the other guys at all.
But seeing Heath Slater come up on the 4th spot was fantastic, because I honestly thought he had a shot at winning it.
Striker asked Christian why Slater had gone tonight and he explained that the deck was stacked against Slater from day one, as people like Jericho were biased towards their own Rookie.
Christian said he still saw big things in Slater’s future.
Next Striker asked The Miz why he got voted off and he said it was because Slater didn’t show him the ‘WOW’ that he needed to see. He said in the end he just wasn’t consistent enough.
R-Truth said that Slater did everything that was ‘axed’ of him, but he’s found out that in the WWE it’s the survival of the fittest.
Jericho used the opportunity to tell his Rookie that he needs to put more effort in.
Finally Striker let Slater speak and he said that he’d done too much to be going anywhere, listing a selection of ‘accomplishments’ including having the best nickname according to WWE magazine, or some crap.
I actually started to feel hatred for the guy during his last little speech.
I’ll see you all for the finale next week!
