Hello and welcome the NXT Episode!

Let us know what you think of the NXT Episode, or NXT in general by using our Contact Us page or by dropping a few words to any of the usual e-mail addresses.

    On with the show!

    Quick Links

    Opening Segment: Strikers Introduction

    Match 1: Ryder & O’Neil Vs. Morrison & Cottonwood

Main Event: Rhodes & Harris Vs.M.V.P & Watson

    Closing Segment: N Invasion

    Segment 1

    Strikers Introduction

All the build up at the start of the show focused around the events at the end of Raw the previous night, which saw the ‘graduating class’ (as Striker called them) invade the Red Brand and destroy everything and everyone in their path.

However, after briefly mentioning it Striker swiftly (and quite rightly) moved on to the new class, and their respective introductions.

Rather than go into great detail about the rookies here, I’ve come up with a special article on Suite101 which you can find here; NXT Season 2 Rookies and Pros Line Up Preview.

The Miz is the first out and introduces his rookie Alex Riley, who has a jock image and clearly gets on with Miz far better than Daniel Bryan ever did.

Next up is John Morrison, who introduces Eli Cottonwood, the tallest guy in the competition and a ‘fry short of a happy meal’ according to Michael Cole.

Rhodes introduces ‘Husky Harris’ in a rather lackluster fashion, looks like we’ve got our first odd-couple.

Lay-Cool were next to bring out their Rookie, and rather surprisingly they seemed fairly complementary about him, despite making him carry their title belts to the ring.

Henry gave Jason ‘Lucky’ Cannon his grand entrance once Lay-Cool had got to the ring. I’m still not sure about this guy, and I don’t think Henry has the charisma to help him too much.

Kingston was next to grace the stage, introducing the guy with the worst nickname of the lot; Michael McGillicutty.

I think I might call him Hennig or Perfect Jnr from here on, McGillicutty is hard to get right.

Anyway, you get the picture here, all the pairs came down to the ring and lined up.

Striker went over the changes in this Season, namely that the WWE Universe now gets 50% of the votes and the length has been cut to just 12 weeks so it’s vital they make an impression early.

The first elimination takes place half way through the series, but the first poll takes place in just 3 weeks.

As Striker tried to bring the segment to a close Husky Harris (awful name) charged forward and half blurted something into the microphone about him being the next big thing.

Some pushing and shoving followed before a fade to some ads.

After the break Cole and Mathews talked some more about the NXT Invasion.

    Match 1

    Tag Team Match
    Zack Ryder & Titus O’Neil
    Vs.
    John Morrison & Eli Cottonwood

Unlike last series all the Pros have taken their seats at the top of the ramp on the very first show.

I didn’t expect to like Cottonwood or O’Neil, and I didn’t in the case of the latter.

However, Cottonwood impressed me slightly. He didn’t do anything particularly special, and he probably did botch a few things, but he’s strangely intimidating in the ring and showed a lot of fighting spirit.

O’Neil wasn’t that bad either to be honest, but I’m just not seeing what makes him stand out at this stage.

After the match Morrison asked the crowd what they thought of Cottonwood tonight and got a rather mediocre response.

Striker asked the pros on the stage what they thought and The Miz chipped in by saying that they didn’t really impress anyone tonight.

John Morrison & Eli Cottonwood wins by Pinfall.

    Main Event Match

    Tag Team Match
    Cody Rhodes & Husky Harris
    Vs.
    M.V.P & Percy Watson

I kinda like Watson, he has a certain look to him that I could imagine working, at least for a while.

Harris on the other hand looks like a sack of crap, BUT he showed in this match that he does posses at least a tiny bit of athleticism, hitting a huge Senton on Watson that quite honestly could have flattened him like a pancake.

Watson got his own back at the end of the match though, hitting a nice floatover DDT to grab the 3 after M.V.P had prevented a sneak attack from Rhodes.

After the match Striker once again ambled up into the ring and asked the pros what they made of their rookies performances.

Rhodes said Husky Harris looks like ‘someone in his family’ and everyone in the audience. He said that M.V.P might mould an already great athlete into someone who could win the contest, but he is going to do the same with his bag of crap.

Ok, so he didn’t say ‘bag of crap’ but you could tell that’s what he was hinting at.

M.V.P made some pun about Showtime Percy Watson being ready for the Primetime.

M.V.P & Percy Jackson win by Pinfall.

    Closing Segment

    ‘N’ Invasion

With all the rookies in the ring, we’re treated to yet another showing of the former NXT Rookies invasion of Raw from the previous night.

Afterwards Striker asked the Rookies about what they’d  just seen, starting with Kaval.

He said it was shocking what they had done, but it was a great way to make a statement.

Lucky Cannon said exactly the same thing. Great.

Husky Harris said that he didn’t agree with what they did but he didn’t really care as all he’s here to do is win NXT.

Alex Reily pretended to be allergic to Matt Striker for some reason or another, and Percy Watson said that what they did was cowardly.

Eli Cottonwood said Cena deserved every bit of the attack, O’Neil dared Season 1 to come out and try that with one of them then punked Zack Ryder and Hennig told his fellow Rookies that they should answer the question and said it was the kind of impact he hoped to make.

Striker then blathered on about how everyone is fearing for their safety and they cant have it happen again, so on behalf of everyone he’d like to welcome the new Rookies to the WWE.

The Pros then beat the hell out of all the rookies as the show went off the air.

Pretty dumb stuff if you ask me, I didn’t really get why guys who genuinely liked their Rookies would then just beat them up.
