    Opening Segment

    Swagger’s Back

Before we kick off tonight I’d just like to wish our feature writer GRuz a very happy birthday for Thursday!

If anyone would like to send him a birthday present feel free to use the Donate page, and I’ll make sure it gets passed onto him (minus a nominal admin fee of course *wink wink*)

Former ECW Champion Jack Swagger is this week’s ‘ECW Homecoming’ competitor, and he chooses to kick off the show by upsetting the Extreme faithful, saying his return has finally made the show worth watching again.

After explaining the concept of the tournament he briefly insults Christian and Dreamer before playing self-hype video and declaring himself a future ECW Champion.

No mention of his opponent for tonight; Yoshi Tatsu.

    Match 1

    Singles Match
    Zack Ryder (w/Rosa Mendes)
    Vs.
    Tommy Dreamer

I can’t believe Dreamer is still going to be honest, not so much because of his wrestling ability, but more because he’s jobbing practically week in/week out and most guys with his storied background would have called it a day by now.

Rosa got involved early in this one, distracting the Hardcore Icon and putting him on the back foot for a large period of the match.

Ryder hit the Ruff-Ryder Leg Drop shortly afterwards, but Dreamer kicked out after a 1 count, infuriating the up and comer who ran his laces over Dreamer’s face in the corner.

Ryder headed to the top rope next but Tommy turned the tides, hitting a Superplex and looking good for the win when he tied his opponent up in the Tree of Woe and landed the dropkick.

However, Ryder cleverly slithered to the outside and moments later hung the veteran up on the top rope, giving him the chance to score with the Zack Attack for the 1..2..3.

An interesting opener which has set a bar for Goldust and Vance Archer who are up after the Abraham Washington Show.

    Zack Ryder wins by Pinfall.

    Segment 2

The Abraham Washington Show with Croft & Barretta

Abe kicks off the show with some Tiger Woods material and although it was leaps and bounds better than the absolute dross on Raw, it was still in pretty bad taste in my opinion.

Abe welcomes Croft and Barretta, but reprimands them for jumping over his couch, then asks them why they want to re-define the New Superstar Initiative because he’s a product of it himself so there can’t be anything wrong with it.

After some banter about how Abe hasn’t been in the ring yet Croft and Barretta say that while Miz & Morrison and The Hart Dynasty might be ok, they are taking it to the next level, saying you can’t compare an N64 to an X-Box 360.

Abe asks them what makes them think they are so special, leading them to explain that they have been friends since little league and they hope to be part of the ECW Homecoming next year; as Tag Team Champions.

Atlas mentions that he was once one half of the tag champions with Rocky Johnson, but Croft and Barretta tell him to shut up because he is old and past it.

Washington briefly stands up for Atlas, but then calls him a dummy and tells him to wrap up the show.

    Segment 3

    Sthitizen Sthwagger

Swagger enters Tiffany’s office and says that he can’t believe she’s still in charge.

She shoots him down and explains that it’s much easier to run things now he isn’t around.

The Hurricane enters and engages in a little banter, saying that his super-powers know no bounds, other than perhaps being able to fix ‘Sthitizen Sthwagger’s speech impediment.

    Match 2

    ECW Homecoming Qualifying Match
    Vance Archer
    Vs.
    Goldust

I might not win the WWEBloggy for Prediction of the Year with this one, but I expect Archer to take the victory here.

Let’s face it, no one wants to see Christian Vs. Goldust for the ECW Championship, and with the run Archer has been on since débuting I wouldn’t rule him out of winning the whole tournament, never mind this one match.

Unsurprisingly Archer took the victory with his lame reverse DDT, booking his place in the so-far uninspiring ECW Homecoming Finale which already features Kane and Ezekiel Jackson.

Vance Archer wins by Pinfall and qualifies for The ECW Homecoming Tournament.

    Segment 4

    Christian Coaches Tatsu

Backstage Christian is giving Yoshi some last minute tips for his match against Swagger tonight when the All American American enters.

He says he’s going to steamroller Tatsu tonight and tells Christian he’ll see him at the Royal Rumble, prompting Tatsu to brand him a ‘Jackass’.

    Main Event Match

    ECW Homecoming Qualification Match
    Jack Swagger
    Vs.
    Yoshi Tatsu

I didn’t expect this to be anything special and to be truthful it wasn’t.

Swagger dominated nearly the whole match but couldn’t quite seem to end it, failing to land the Gutwrench Powerbomb when it really counted.

Tatsu sprung into life with just a few minutes of the show left to go, picking up three near-falls in quick succession, before kicking out three himself and landing the Buzzsaw Kick which grabbed the win.

It looks like Swagger is slowly falling from grace as The Informant predicted a couple of weeks back.

Yoshi Tatsu wins by Pinfall and Qualifies for the ECW Homecoming Tournament.
