    The ECW Digest

    Match 1

    Singles Match
    Ezekiel Jackson (w/Vladimir Kozlov)
    Vs.
    Goldust

Firstly let me apologise for the lateness of this weeks Digest.

We’ve been snowed under at WWEBlog HQ this week but never fear, we’ve got everything sorted and now (finally) bring you this weeks show.

We hope that you already spotted and mused over our newest couple of features this week, but if not allow me to give you a point in their direction with a DX-Style cheap plug:

    - Spotlight On Chris Jericho

    - The Weekly Informer (13th October Edition)

For anyone that doesn’t know, The Weekly Informer is written by our newest and most secretive member of staff; The Informant.

It’s the place to find all the week’s best backstage rumour and speculation, from a guy that relentlessly scours the world wide web in search of the juiciest bits of gossip, then brings them all together exclusively for our WWEBlog readers.

    Anyway, back to the match.

It’s probably the most competitive match I’ve seen Jackson in since his move to ECW, or in fact his arrival in the WWE full stop.

Goldust gave him a real run for his money and as usual The Bizarre One brought out the talent inside his rookie opponent, allowing Jackson to shine and show just what he is capable of.

Jackson picked up the win after a kind of half hearted distraction from Kozlov allowed him to take control and hit the modified Eurinagi.

After the bell Kozlov stamped his authority on things with the Iron Curtain on Goldust.

    Ezekiel Jackson wins by Pinfall.

    Segment 1

    Unlikely Tag Team

After clips from last week where Regal lost to Tatsu despite having his foot under the ropes, then attacked Christian in the main event, the cameras head backstage.

Regal is pacing back and forth when Ryder, his partner for tonight’s main event, appears and once again accuses the former Raw G.M of being threatened by him.

Ryder says that Regal realises that he is more of a title contender and isn’t too tough with his goons around.

    Cue Jackson and Kozlov.

Regal says that Tiffany is paying him back by partnering them together, but as he wants to win tonight he will put last week behind them and begrudgingly work with Ryder.

He then warns Zack that he will get far worse than he did last week if he crosses them again.

    Segment 2

    Sheamus Makes a Statement

Sheamus kicked off by talking about how he beat down Shelton Benjamin last week on Superstars, showing a clip of the brutal match to emphasise his point.

He says a lot of people have asked him why he did it, but before he explains he wants to tell a little story.

Sheamus explains how in the 10 years Shelton has been in the WWE, he’s wallowed in mediocrity despite having amazing talent.

The Celtic Warrior says that he plans on using Benjamin as a stepping stone on his way to the top of the WWE and everyone else can eitherfollow or get out of his way.

    Match 2

    Singles Match
    The Hurricane
    Vs.
    Paul Burchill (w/Katie Lea)

Is The Hurricane actually Gregory Helms?

    I’d have to say… Yes.

I know when he first made his comeback I said I wasn’t sure and it seemed like that might not be the case, but I’ll admit I’m almost 100% sure I was wrong.

So, that begs the question; why do the writers continue this charade of Burchill trying to find out and prove that it is.

I’ve got a horrible feeling this fairly good feud is just leading up to a Santina/Santino-esque split camera scenario where it looks like The Hurricane and Gregory Helms are chatting, perhaps in a backstage interview segment for example.

This was a good match but nothing ground breaking.

Burchill worked on The Hurricane’s arm, using it time and again to re-gain the upper hand after a spell of offence from the WWE’s #1 Superhero.

In the end The Hurricane became the architect of his own downfall, attempting a Hurricane-rana from the top rope which Burchill avoided by anchoring himself.

Moments later the Chelsea-born Ripper hit a Jackhammer to pick up the victory.

    Good stuff.

    Paul Burchill wins by Pinfall.

    Segment 3

    Tatsu and Christian

Backstage Yoshi Tatsu is warming up when ECW Champion Christian enters and asks him if he is ready to go.

Tatsu doesn’t reply at first and Christian has to try 3 or 4 times before he gets through and snaps him out of his trance.

Tatsu tells him that he is nervous and after telling him that he has no reason to be as he is a rising star, Christian tries in vain to get in the last ‘thank you’, as he has for the past couple of weeks.

    Main Event Match

    Tag Team Match
    Christian & Yoshi Tatsu
    Vs.
    William Regal & Zack Ryder

Before the match kicked off Matt Striker managed to make himself hated by practically every WWE Games fan by declaring that he had an early copy of Smackdown Vs. Raw 2010 and it was amazing.

Ryder and Tatsu kicked off this match in a blur of fast paced offence, before Christian tagged in and got his ass handed to him by Ryder until he turned the tables with the Fulcrum Prison Blues (I notice they don’t really use that name any more).

Ryder and Regal showed the first signs of animosity when Christian dumped Ryder to the outside, prompting his partner to jump down from the apron and attempt to manhandle him back into the ring.

Christian took advantage of this and hit them both with a Baseball Slide before spring-boarding over the top to take them out.

From here things went back and forth and both teams had great opportunities to pick up the win, but neither could quite do it.

At the climax of the match Ryder failed to put Christian away, prompting Regal to tag himself in and chastise his partner.

Ryder had clearly taken enough abuse and hung Regal up on the top rope, allowing Christian to hit the KillSwitch and cover for the victory.

Ryder walked away from the ring as Tatsu and the ECW Champion celebrated, but you have to assume he will be in for some punishment next week at the hands of Kozlov & Jackson.

Christian & Yoshi Tatsu win by Pinfall.
