Segment 1
The Abraham Washington Show with Christian
Apparently tonight Vince McMahon is going to be gracing ECW with his presence to discuss the future of the Land of Extreme.
If our very own WWEBlog Informant is to be believed, it doesn’t look too rosey.
But before that Tony Atlas and Abraham Washington kick off proceedings tonight with ECW Champion Christian.
Abe reveals that the reason he has been off for the past few weeks is because NBC have been trying to get him to replace Conan O’Brian instead of Jay ‘Long Chin’ Leno.
He says that he decided not to go because the WWE Universe would miss him.
Abe and Atlas have the usual banter before they bring out Christian, who poses with his title before taking a seat on the couch.
Abe congratulates him not only for retaining the gold at The Rumble but for the fact that he is currently the longest reigning champion in the WWE.
Christian begins to talk about looking forward to future challenges, until Zack Ryder emerges from the back with Rosa Mendes on his arm.
Zack says he’s hear to talk about the ‘real’ issue in ECW at the minute, which everyone is afraid to talk about.
He puts a mugshot of ‘Hurricane’ Helms on the titan-tron, and explains how the supposed ‘ECW Superstar’ got arrested for brawling.
Ryder calls him a disgrace and says that he has disrespected everyone in ECW, but Christian sticks up for Helms, saying he made a mistake, which everyone does.
Christian lists a few ‘mistakes’, such as giving Washington his own show, how Ryder did his hair this morning and the fact that he got together with Rosa Mendes.
The Mendes comment pushes Ryder too far and he shoves Christian, who retaliates with a shove of his own.
Washington, sensing problems, brings the segment to a close with tensions still running high.
Match 1
Singles Match
Shelton Benjamin
Vs.
Vance Archer
Admittedly I skipped though some of this match, because I think we’ve seen enough from these two guys of late to know what to expect here.
However, from what I did see Archer looked fairly impressive, with Shelton turning in his usual high level of performance.
The most notable thing about this one was how long it was given to run. Someone put a lot of faith in these two and they didn’t disappoint.
Archer eventually picked up the win although he had to place his feet on the ropes to get the job done.
The crowd didn’t seem to appreciate the way the match ended at all, voicing their displeasure as Archer made his way up the ramp.
Vance Archer wins by Pinfall.
Match 2
Singles Match
Yoshi Tatsu (w/Goldust)
Vs.
Trent Barretta (w/Caylen Croft)
‘Trent Barretta prepares for matches by playing Guitar Hero and watching Steven Segal movies’ apparently this is something Barretta wants us to know, according to Josh Mathews.
I personally couldn’t care less.
This match was fast paced for the most part, although Barretta slowed it down occasionally with an expertly applied Sleeper.
Barretta displayed his ‘inexperience’ at the climax of the match, turning his back on the ‘Cardiac Kid’ after he failed to get the pinfall to reprimand the referee.
Tatsu took this opportunity to land a huge kick, putting Barretta down for the 1..2..3.
Yoshi Tatsu wins by Pinfall.
Segment 2
The Future of ECW
So it’s time to find out what lies in store for ECW.
Vince makes his way out onto the ramp and proudly announces that in three weeks time ECW will be going off the air.
He thanks everyone involved for making the show a success, then thanks everyone in advance for making the show that will replace it a huge success.
He says it will be the next evolution for the WWE and a revolution in TV history, or something like that.
It looks like in three weeks time we’ll have to get some new banners made up.
What does this mean for the ECW Championship?
Segment 3
Ezekiel Jackson Interviewed
With the crowd still reeling disgraced announcer Gregory Helms makes his way to the ring and introduces Gregory Helms, along with William Regal.
Helms asks Jackson how he hopes to get past the loss at The Rumble, but William Regal interjects and asks Helms if it has been a trying week for him.
Helms confirms that it has, but he’s just trying to get over it and do his job.
Regal deems this very noble, but says things are about to get a whole lot worse.
With that Jackson attacks Helms and the two of them beat him down until Christian appears and runs them off with a Kendo Stick.
Is this punishment of some sort for Helms?

Main Event Match
Singles Match
Christian
Vs.
Zack Ryder
With the news that ECW is indeed going under, probably to make way for a show that demonstrates the talents of up and comers, this match (and probably most of the ones in the next few weeks) seems kind of pointless.
Ryder and Christian did a good job in this match, but I think a lot of the WWE Universe, myself included, were still reeling and speculating from the announcement.
Ryder pushed the champion close, but inevitably Christian hit the KillSwitch and looked ot be on the way to a pinfall victory.
However, just as he was about to make the cover Jackson and Regal hit the ring, eventually getting the better of Christian and leaving him down and out next to the steel steps as the show went off the air.
Christian wins by Disqualification.
