The Weekly Informer – 9th December 2009

Welcome to The Weekly Informer
Hello boys and girls, that time of the week is upon us again to replenish those gossip levels and rumours, with a special Wednesday edition of the Weekly Informer!
As we build up towards Christmas, nothing of real note appears to be going on at WWE Headquarters.
R.I.P Eddie ‘Umaga’ Fatu (March 28, 1973 – December 4, 2009)
The main piece of news to hit this past week has been the sad report of former WWE star Umaga’s death, another whose time has come far too soon, and once again far too unnaturally.
I actually tipped Umaga to be returning to the WWE in a previous issue, and since his death a WWE source has confirmed that to be true. After checks and the usual screening process, Eddie Fatu was pencilled in to return prior to Royal Rumble.
His uncle, the great Afa Anoa’i, wrote the following message:
On behalf of my family, the Anoa’i and Fatu family, we are devastated and shocked by the loss of our Eki (Umaga). Our son, nephew, brother, cousin, husband, father. Our hearts are broken, and words can’t express what each of us are feeling. It is so comforting to know how loved Eki is by his family, peers, friends, and most of all his fans. When I received that AM phone call that my nephew was in the hospital, I dug deep and prayed and cried and begged for a miracle. When we lost Eki, I knew it was God’s will, and that he is with my sister, his mother, who passed just a year ago.
We are making our plans now for our farewell to Eki, but I wanted to take this time to thank everyone for all of the thousands of posts, emails, letters, and cards. Although I have not been able to bring myself to answer them personally, your kindness does not go unnoticed. I want to especially thank our WWE family and Stephanie McMahon for everything, and her phone call was very comforting to me in my time of
sorrow. God bless each and every one of you, and I’ve said it a hundred times, the best people in the world are our wrestling people. You’ll never find a more dedicated group of people.Be safe and be healthy, and love one another.
God bless,
Afa the Wild Samoan

All Aboard the TNA Bandwagon
Since Hulk Hogan has emerged on the scene, TNA has taken a huge profile rise and is now understandably far more appealing to a wider audience.
This has in turn had an effect on the WWE talent roster.
There are several wrestlers who are currently disenchanted with the lack of opportunities in WWE and are expected to dive on the Hogan bandwagon at some point in the future.
Whether or not this will be a series of shocks reminiscent of the WCW/WWF days remains to be seen, although a few transfers should be expected.
Charlie Haas is the latest to express a desire to jump ship, but has instead been given a pay-rise in order to keep him away from TNA’s clutches.
2010 should be an interesting year, with both companies battling to retain and possibly regain talent.
Extinct Championship Wrestling?
Could ECW, the Land of Extreme, become ECW, the Land of Extinct?
Sources have speculated that Vince is considering a drastic change, and ECW may be revamped or even, more likely, scrapped.
It has been a great opportunity for new talents to showcase their skills, so removing it all together without an alternative would be a strange move, although who are we to argue to Mr McMahon?
He didn’t earn his millions from being stupid. (Although he did approve a storyline that had a geriatric giving birth to a hand-Ed.)
Rey Reads The Informer?
Here at WWEBlog interest in the site seems to be fast-gathering momentum, and this week we have some very flimsy evidence that it might even read by some stars of the squared circle.
After an issue regarding Rey Mysterio and his knee injury, I mentioned his poor WrestleMania appearance record was likely to continue.
After some thought, it appears Rey has now decided to put back his surgery until straight AFTER the big event, rather than having it done now as was scheduled.
I Wonder if it is the appearance record or the massive payday that appealed? Hmmm.
Now That’s Cool!
Speaking of appearances, let me just say how nice it was to see Carlito back on our screens.
He’s been away for a long time and no real reason has emerged as to why. Instead of a lack of creative ideas, a rumour appears to be doing the rounds that it was actually due to something a lot more serious, but that’s as much as I could dig up so far.
Ups and Downs (and Outs?)
After seeing Drew McIntyre being shot into a feud with John Morrison (hate to say it but ‘I told you so!’), I predict that he should be wearing I-C gold sooner rather than later.
As for Knox and Escobar, their defeats at last Friday’s Smackdown would confirm my belief that they are on the slide somewhat, although if Escobar’s face turn takes off it could make him rather than break him.
Ziggler and Swagger are also guys that should be looking over their shoulders, they were given the ball and according to insiders, look to be in danger of dropping it.
The End Bit
That’s all for this week folks.
Thanks once again for reading and remember, if you spot anything you think I might like to sink my teeth into, drop me an email here.
I’ll be back again next week with more of the hottest rumours and behind the scenes gossip.
I promise.
After all, Would I lie to you?
