    SummerSlam 2010 Live Results!

    Match 1

    Intercontinental Championship Match
    Dolph Ziggler (c) (w/Vickie Guerrero)
    Vs.
    Kofi Kingston

Welcome to SummerSlam 2010 on WWEBlog everyone!

We’re straight into the action tonight, with the most recent match added to the card and one that I think has the potential to steal the show.

Vickie Guerrero is finally out of the ring, so I guess this match, and the Pay Per View is now officially under-way!

You can still vote in all our our polls at the bottom of this page, we’re constantly checking the results for all the last-minute opinions and we’ll be revealing the results just before the big 7 on 7 Elimination match.

For some reason, no matter how hard we try, the Poll regarding one of the main event participants turning WILL NOT accept Chris Jericho as an option (maybe the good people at Poll Daddy know something we don’t) so if you’d like to suggest him, or anyone else for that matter, please use the ‘Other’ option.

Anyway, back to this match and Dolph Ziggler is firmly in control, having Kofi grounded with a kind of floor Sleeper. It can’t be his ‘patented’ Sleeper though, because Matt Striker isn’t shouting about it like a 5 year old.

Kingston is getting back into it now, although he needs to be careful that his new-found aggression doesn’t get him disqualified.

Boom Drop! But Ziggler rolls through the following Cross-Body and gets a long 2 count.

Fame-Asser from Ziggler! 1..2.. Kingston barely kicks out!

Kofi’s back in control again now and calling for Trouble in Paradise… but he misses it!

Patented Sleeper Hold! It’s locked in!

The Nexus! The Nexus have hit the ring and attacked both men!

They only seem to be interested in Kofi though, dumping Ziggler over the top rope.

7 on 1 attack on Kingston now! Even Darren Young has been allowed to hit his finisher!

Barrett hits his still un-named finisher, and now has a microphone.

He says this was just a taster of what they have in store for Team WWE tonight, and regardless of who they get as #7 it won’t make a shred of difference.

He says that the WWE rosters are so fragmented that regardless of who they acquire, they wouldn’t be able to work together long enough to sign a birthday card, never mind pose a threat.

Barrett explains that The Nexus are united by ‘a common purpose’, and bottom line is ‘you’re either Nexus, or you’re against us’.

Firey start to the PPV, but I’d have liked to have seen this match run longer.

    Match ends in a No-Contest.

    Segment 1

    We Need The Miz

Backstage Chris Jericho and Edge are trying to talk Miz into joining team WWE.

They tell him that they appreciate that he’s Mr. Money in the Bank but tonight isn’t about cashing in, it’s about making a name for himself and being #7 would be a blockbuster announcement.

Miz tells them he has a lot on his mind and he’ll think about it some more, leaving and taking Edge’s Slim Jim with him.

    Match 2

    Divas Championship Match
    Melina
    Vs.
    Alicia Fox (c)

Good news, we’re getting the Divas out of the way early tonight!

I personally expected them to have this match smack-dab between the two World Title matches, but now is even better.

While this match goes on (Alicia has turned the match in her favour and Melina seems to have tweaked her ‘injured’ knee) I’ll give you the latest information from the WWEBlog Informant.

We actually got this news from two separate sources over the weekend, but the Informant got it to us just a shade quicker!

    Hello WWEBlog fans!

Hope you’re enjoying SummerSlam, here’s a bit of gossip for you that might help you decide who to vote for in the ‘Who is the 7th WWE Team Member’ poll below!

Rumour has it Bryan Danielson aka Daniel Bryan pulled out of an indy show tonight for ‘personal reasons’.

Sure, his dog might have died, or he might have wanted to stay at home and catch SummerSlam for himself, but the people out there with more vivid imaginations are speculating that it might be because he’s got a phone call from Mr. McMahon to say that the Mattel Mafia have finally been appeased.

    Until next time guys!

    -The WWEBlog Informant

    Interesting.

Back in the ring Melina has picked up the win with some sort of ‘slam Alicia’s face into the canvas’ move, she’s the new Divas Champion folks!

Josh Mathews has hopped into the ring to interview her, but Lay-Cool’s music has hit.

The pair of them are ripping into Melina in their usual ‘no real substance’ style.

Michelle explains that there’s no competition left for them on Smackdown, and that’s why they don’t have a match tonight, so they’ve come out to revel in her moment.

They try and take a picture of ‘two champions together’ for Twitter, but Melina has taken offence and attacked them both.

It hasn’t taken long for the numbers game to catch up with her though, and now Alicia Fox is joining in the beating.

Michelle’s dumped Alicia out of the ring as well now, I don’t know what the hell is happening.

Michelle has put an exclamation mark on the whole affair by driving Melina’s head into the announce table with a knee, and thankfully it’s now over.

Melina wins by Pinfall and becomes the NEW WWE Divas Champion.

    Match 3

    Grudge Match

    3 on 1 Handicap Match
    The Big Show
    Vs.
    The Straight Edge Society (w/Serena)

Much like on Smackdown C.M Punk is wearing his ‘I broke The Big Show’s Hand’ T-Shirt, and Show still has his hand taped up with a white ‘X’ on the back of it, apparently to show that there’s still a lot of ‘bad’ in that damaged hand of his.

Or at least they did, until Punk took off his T-Shirt and Show had one of the trainers cut the tape from his hand, signifying that his hand is now fully healed.

The bell has gone and we’re under-way, and instantly Show has taken out 2 of the 3 members of Punk’s Society.

After a little team-talk from Punk Gallows and ‘Joseph’ Mercury try to circle Show and pick him off, which fails miserably.

Gallows and Mercury are out of it on the outside, so it looks like we’re down to Show and Punk, at least momentarily.

Serena tried to distract the giant, but it only worked for a few seconds and didn’t give Punk enough time.

We’re on the outside now and Punk just tried to stamp on Show’s hand again, but he missed.

Seconds later Show goes to slap Punk’s chest but misses and palms the steps instead, inflicting damage on himself.

I don’t think the Creative team could decide what kind of Handicap match they wanted it to be. Things started off in a kind of Tag style, with Punk standing on the apron holding the tag-rope.

But now it’s boiled down to all three guys beating the hell out of Show, and the referee’s doing nothing.

Show manages to take Mercury and Gallows out of the equation again, but this time Punk subdues him with some clever kicks.

Show is back in control again!

Punk is heading to the back with Serena, it looks like he’s had enough.

Show lifts Mercury up… Chokeslam! Right on top of Gallows!

    1..2..3.

This one’s all over, but I’ve got a feeling Punk might have some dissension on his hands come Smackdown next week.

    This rivalry isn’t over I don’t think.

The Big Show wins by Pinfall.

    Segment 2

    Champion Meets Champion

Kane must bring that creepy candle-lit room with him everywhere he goes.

He’s having a chat with his casket again, promising to avenge The Undertaker, when Sheamus enters.

He tells Kane that the casket is way too big for Rey Mysterio, but it’s the perfect size for Randy Orton, so can he borrow it for the WWE Championship match which is up next.

Kane refuses and Sheamus tells him that he’s making a mistake crossing him.

He tells Kane he’s going to take his nickname, as a lot of people are already calling him ‘The Big Red Monster’, and if he should stay out of his way.

Kane says he likes him and that he has guts, but then warns him that they’d be spilled all over the floor if he EVER interrupted him again.

    Segment 3

    In or Out?

Before the WWE Champion and his opponent can hit the ring The Miz emerges.

He asks the crowd if they think he should join Team WWE, then tells them he couldn’t care less what they think when they give a mixed reaction.

He says the feeling in the locker room is that he’s the missing link from Team WWE, and just what’s required to take down Team Nexus.

Miz says that Cena came up to him earlier today and begged him to be a part of his team, getting down on his knees and telling him that without Mr. Money in the Bank they won’t win.

He says Cena said he was the only Superstar that can ‘see him’, Bret Hart said he was the real Excellence of Execution, Jericho gave him a Fozzy CD (which he threw in the bin), Morrison finally admitted that he was the Marty Jannetty, Edge gave him a years supply of Slim Jims and R-Truth wrote him a ‘crappy rap’.

The only people that haven’t accepted him as the ‘WWE’s only hope’ are the fans, and he tells them they need to realise that.

He takes a pop at the Lakers, which gets the crowd on his back worse than anything he’s said so far, then says he’s IN Team WWE!

Miz says he’ll lead Team WWE to victory and make the WWE Universe accept that ‘He’s The Miz… and he’s Awesome!’

The crowd try to join in with his catch-phrase, but he tells them they don’t get the privilege and demands absolute silence before he repeats it.

    Surprisingly he doesn’t get it.

Well I guess we have our 7th Member, although I’ll keep the poll results back until the start of the match because there’s every chance there will be another swerve.

    Match 4

    WWE Championship Match
    Randy Orton
    Vs.
    Sheamus (c)

This match got under-way with a bit of a pop, as both guys were in the crowd within a matter of minutes, only just getting back to the ring to beat the 10 count.

Orton’s been in control pretty much the whole way through so far, and currently he’s on a stomping frenzy.

Orton Guillotines Sheamus under the bottom rope and the action spills to the outside once more.

Sheamus reverses Orton into the steel steps, he’s turned things in his favour now, at least momentarily.

Orton seems to be nursing his arm/shoulder after taking that spill into the steps, and it hasn’t taken long for The Celtic Warrior to pick up on it and start to deliver some punishment.

Sheamus sets up for the Supplex, but Orton reverses it. He fails to capitalise though due to his right shoulder.

Rope Assisted DDT coming… but Sheamus comes up with a counter of his own and dumps The Viper over the top rope to the outside, following him out there seconds later.

Sheamus hurls Orton into the guard rail hard back first, not once but twice. This match has really been a physical war so far.

Polish (or Celtic if you believe Matt Striker) Hammer and a cover from Sheamus, 1..2.. Orton just kicks out.

A pair of 2 counts for Sheamus a few minutes later too, after a Submission attempt and a brutal Backbreaker.

Orton tries to fight back, but gets hit with another ‘Celtic’ Hammer, cue more banter between the commentators.

Sheamus has the Submission locked on again, but this time Orton powers out with a Backdrop and buys himself a little recovery time.

Both men drag themselves back to their feet at the same time, but it’s Orton who comes out on top with a trademark Backbreaker to grab a 2 count, his first in a long while.

Slugfest bit now, with cheers for Orton and boos for Sheamus.

Orton has exploded into action now, wrapping up a nice little flurry with a Scoop Slam.

Randy’s setting up for a SuperPlex… hits it!

1..2.. Sheamus just barely kicks out.

Sheamus recovers and hits The Irish Curse, but misses with the Pump Kick altogether and goes sailing over the top rope.

Rope-Assisted DDT from ‘the WWE’s Apex Predator’!

He’s calling for it…. RKO! No! Sheamus pushed him away and countered! 1..2.. Orton just barely kicks out!

Even the Sheamus-haters must be enjoying this one ever so slightly, it’s been the best match of the night so far by a country mile (Ziggler/Kingston was good, but the ending let it down.)

Sheamus goes for the High Cross, but Orton reverses into an RKO setup, which Sheamus then reverses into a Pump Kick, which he hits!

    1..2.. Orton kicks out again!

Sheamus goes crazy, wondering what he has to do to get a win here.

Sheamus has a steel chair now! The referee is trying to snatch it from him…

Ref bump! He topples to the outside but rather than feigning unconsciousness as they usually do, he calls for the disqualification.

Sheamus still has the chair and swings it at Orton…

Orton ducks and hits a brutal low blow, then strips down the announce table and rolls Sheamus onto it…

    RKO on the table!

It didn’t break, and Sheamus bounced right off the top.

Not the result I expected, but I guess it stops Orton from going ‘to the back of the line’ and keeps this rivalry running until Triple H is fit enough to return.

Randy Orton wins by Disqualification therefore Sheamus retains the WWE Championship.

    Match 5

    World Heavyweight Championship Match
    Kane (c)
    Vs.
    Rey Mysterio

    This is interesting for sure.

The mantra of the WWE Creative Team seems to have always been ‘save the best for last’, which makes me kinda curious about tonight’s line up.

It’s almost a certainty that The Undertaker is going to return at some point in this match, probably at the end of it.

Now on pretty much any other Pay Per View this would have been the thing that the show went out on.

A big return at the head of the show, cameras stop rolling and leave the fans wanting more.

Now to me that either means that:

    a) The Undertaker isn’t going to return tonight

    or

    b) The Creative team think they have something a lot better/more shocking planned for the end of the 7 on 7 match

I guess we’ll just have to wait until the end of this one to see which it’s most likely to be.

Either way, the one thing I know for sure is that I’m going to need a big old can of Red Bull to get to the end of this re-hashed David Vs. Goliath bout.

Another thing that’s kind of got me perplexed about this match just sprang into my mind as Kane made his entrance, wheeling a bright red casket to ringside.

With a lot of the build-up surrounding this match being about how Kane is going to dump Mysterio in a casket after the match, why not just make this a casket match and add a little bit of spice to a pretty drab card.

Perhaps because The Deadman is already positioned inside that casket waiting to pounce! I guess we’ll have to see.

While I’ve been ranting the match has gotten going and both men have had periods of offence, although Kane seems to be solidly in control at the minute.

Bearhug now from Kane slowing the match down to a crawl.

Mysterio breaks free and tries to quicken the pace, but Kane catches him and locks it straight back on.

The crowd are almost silent at the minute, and I can’t say as I can blame them.

Mysterio escapes again and sets up for a 619, but Kane reverses into a huge Clothesline that grabs him a 2 count.

Involuntary face-first Baseball Slide to the outside for Mysterio, and then a Big Boot to the chest as he tries to springboard back in.

Kane’s on the outside too now, this doesn’t bode well for one of them.

Drop Toe Hold from Mysterio sends Kane crashing into the guard rail, the momentum has turned again.

Flying Headbutt from Mysterio! That’s a new one, and it floors Kane.

Tilt-a-Whirl Backbreaker from Kane, and the pace switches again.

Backbreaker Submission from Kane now, he’s barking at Mysterio, telling him to quit, but the little guy won’t give up and escapes again.

Side Slam from Kane gets him another 2 count, Mysterio just can’t seem to hit anything substantial at the minute, which worries me.

Normally when Mysterio spends the majority of a match taking a beating, he pulls out his ‘big 5′ and snatches a win.

Striker and Cole comment on how dead the crowd are, but obviously they put a positive spin on it. Sure, they are all ‘on the edge of their seats’ and ‘uncomfortably hushed’.

If we’re being honest, they’re most likely bored at how slow this match has been, and the fact it’s been done about 15 times in the past couple of years.

Kane’s going to the casket! Are we in for some excitement at last?

    No.

He opens it and it’s empty.

Kane goes for the Chokeslam but Mysterio reverses into the 619 position infront of the casket.

Kane catches him and dumps him into the box! Kane tries to close the lid but Mysterio battles out and the lid slams shut without him in it.

619! Mysterio springboards for the Leg Drop but Kane gets his feet up. Mysterio stops mid air and rolls Kane up instead! 1..2.. Kick out!

    Chokeslam! 1..2..3.

    Mercifully, it’s all over.

Kane has a microphone. He tells Rey he’s going to pay for what he did to The Undertaker with eternal suffering.

He opens the casket again and….

There’s no one inside again. An audible ‘awww’ erupts from the crowd.

Rey fights back and Kane slams the lid shut again.

    Chokeslam.. and another!

    Tombstone Piledriver! Rey’s out cold.

For a third time Kane approaches the casket, opens the lid and….

    The Undertaker!

He sits up and Kane shoots backwards, with a look of pure shock on his face.

Taker drags himself onto the apron and enters the ring, his eyes focused on his brother.

Kane smiles at him and tells him that Rey was the one who destroyed him.

Taker paces towards Mysterio and crouches in his face.

He asks Mysterio if he’s ever heard the term ‘an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth’, then asks him why he did it.

Rey pleads his innocence once more and Taker says he believes him, but then locks his hand around his throat and drags him to his feet.

Taker performs his trademark ‘cut throat’ motion, then turns on his brother and points at him.

Taker locks his hand around Kane’s throat, and Kane responds in kind, breaking Taker’s grasp before drilling him with a Tombstone.

Kane sets off his pyro and stands over Taker, smiling and laughing.

This makes absolutely no sense on so many levels.

It looks like the Creative Team wussed out once again.

Kane wins by Pinfall and retains the World Heavyweight Championship.

    Main Event Match

    7 on 7 Elimination Match
    Team WWE
    John Cena
    John Morrison
    Chris Jericho
    Edge
    R-Truth
    Bret Hart
    ???

    Vs.
    Team Nexus
    Wade Barrett
    David Otunga
    Skip Sheffield
    Michael Tarver
    Darren Young
    Justin Gabriel
    Heath Slater

So we’re at the main event with an hour of the show to go, so I guess it’s time to reveal the results of our polls!

A whopping 55% of you guys still think Triple H will show up and be WWE’s #7, while only 12% think it will be The Miz (that’s the same % as Daniel Bryan) despite him already accepting a place earlier in the show.

Two of our readers rather optimistically suggested Stone Cold might be the 7th member, but I think that’s just one step too far.

As for who might turn tonight, it seems the most popular opinion is that no one will turn tonight and it’ll just be a straight-up match.

Second to that is Edge with 21% of the vote and in third place is my own personal guess; John Morrison with 17%.

Interestingly 1 of you out there (you know who you are) thinks that Bret Hart will be the one to turn tonight, but I think it’d have to be a pretty heinous act to make the crowd even consider turning on The Hitman, but then I guess we’ll see.

Here comes The Miz, and here comes the swerve I expected.

Cena stops him in his tracks and tells him that he’s way way way too late, because they’ve already found a 7th member prior to tonight’s event.

He says their new member is someone who hates The Nexus as much as them…

    DANIEL BRYAN!

I guess The Informant(s) got it right once again! Sucks to be the Indy promotion that had him booked for tonight, huh?

Team WWE pile into the ring and chase The Nexus to the outside, where they regroup.

Michael Cole has gone into heel overdrive, crying about how much of a mistake it is to have Danielson in there over The Miz.

Bryan with his Submission locked on Darren Young!

    He taps!

    Elimination : Darren Young
    Team Nexus : 6
    Team WWE : 7

Man this one is moving almost too fast to keep up with.

R-Truth is in there now, Supplex Stunner on Justin Gabriel grabs a 2 count.

Tarver’s in now and Nexus have the upper hand again.

King calls Daniel Bryan Bryan Danielson and instantly gets reprimanded by Cole.

Meanwhile Morrison’s in the ring with Tarver… Starship Pain! 1..2..3! Another one bites the dust!

    Elimination : Michael Tarver
    Team Nexus : 5
    Team WWE : 7

Skip Sheffield is the next one chosen by Barrett to take the helm, and he quickly regains control with his ‘power’ offence.

R-Truth and Bret Hart manage to do in 2 seconds what Kane and Mysterio couldn’t manage in 20, getting a massive pop from the crowd as they try to rally some support for John Morrison.

Morrison starts to build steam but Justin Gabriel hits him on the back of the head with a big Kick from the apron and Sheffield picks up the pieces with a clothesline for the 3.

    Elimination : John Morrison
    Team Nexus : 5
    Team WWE : 6

Biggest shock of the evening, R-Truth wasn’t the first Team WWE member to go!

    Although seconds later…

    Elimination : R-Truth
    Team Nexus : 5
    Team WWE : 5

We’re back to even numbers now as Sheffield drops Truth with the Clothesline to grab a second elimination in quick succession.

    Here comes Bret Hart!

Wow, I didn’t think he had this in him!

Bret’s taking it to Slater, hitting some classic moves with expert precision.

    Sharp Shooter!

Wade Barrett’s tossed a steel chair in the ring, and for some reason Bret’s dropped the submission and picked up the chair.

Sheffield gets a tag and then gets tagged by the chair, we’ve got a disqualification.

    Elimination : Bret Hart
    Team Nexus : 5
    Team WWE : 4

    CodeBreaker on Sheffield!

    Tag to Edge…

    Spear on Sheffield! 1..2..3.

    We’re even again!

    Elimination : Skip Sheffield
    Team Nexus : 4
    Team WWE : 4

Justin Gabriel eventually turns momentum in Nexus’ favour and brings in Heath Slater to dish out some more punishment.

Wade Barrett with a shot to the head behind the referee’s back now. Nexus are playing the heel role brilliantly it has to be said.

Barrett’s in the ring officially now, and he’s wasted no time getting a long 2 count over Edge after a Backbreaker.

Cena hasn’t been involved yet, as Michael Cole keeps reminding us ever 2 or 3 minutes, hopefully Edge will tag him in so Cole can stop mentioning it.

Neckbreaker from Barrett gives him chance to make the tag to Otunga.

The A-List is setting Edge up here… but Edge reverses his finisher and hits a modified Edgecution before tagging in Jericho.

‘The Winnipeg Jet’ (yet another one of Striker’s one-time nicknames) hits Otunga with the Lionsault before locking in the Walls of Jericho for the submission!

    Elimination : David Otunga
    Team Nexus : 3
    Team WWE : 4

Travesty! Heath Slater gets the jump on Jericho while his back is turned and covers for the 3, then eliminates Edge moments later after he and Cena argue about who will enter the match-up next.

    Elimination : Chris Jericho
    Team Nexus : 3
    Team WWE : 3

    Elimination : Edge
    Team Nexus : 3
    Team WWE : 2

Shades of Team WWE Vs. Team Alliance here as Jericho and his pal Edge beat the hell out of Cena on the outside, blaming him for their eliminations (good call on that one GRuz!)

Team WWE look like they are in a bad way now, Cena is isolated in the Nexus corner.

Michael Cole sounds like he’s about to explode, babbling on about how Team WWE should have taken The Miz over Daniel Bryan.

Huge ‘Lets go Cena/Cena Sucks’ chant war going on in the crowd, I guess that counts as a vote of confidence for The Nexus.

Cole says he’d rather have Striker up on the apron than Daniel Bryan, then says he still wants Team WWE to win.

Cena’s taking a beating here, he hasn’t hit any sort of offence for about 5 minutes now.

Bryan’s firing up the crowd and looking for the Hot Tag…

    … and he gets it!

Bryan hits Heath Slater with a German Supplex (are they even still allowed)  then flattens him with a Suicide Dive through the ropes when the ‘One Man Rock Band’ tried to recuperate on the outside.

Missile Dropkick! Bryan knocks Gabriel and Barrett off the apron then locks his submission on Slater to even the odds yet again!

    Elimination : Heath Slater
    Team Nexus : 2
    Team WWE : 2

The referee’s distracted, the crowd are going crazy, something’s happening!

The Miz! The Miz slides in the ring and drills Bryan with the briefcase behind the officials back.

The Nexus make the cover and we’re in a 2 on 1 situation, just like that.

    Elimination : Daniel Bryan
    Team Nexus : 2
    Team WWE : 1

Cena is battered and broken on the outside, but he finally manages to mount some offence and hits Gabriel with the 5-Knuckle Shuffle.

Setting up for the Attitude Adjustment…

But Barrett makes the blind tag and stops Cena before he can hit it.

    Nexus in control again.

Quick-fire tags from Nexus now, keeping Cena grounded on the mat.

The action has spilled to the outside now, Gabriel’s stripped the floor of all the protective mats…

DDT on the concrete, Cena has to be out cold.

Barrett hurls him back in the ring and drags him to the corner, tagging in Gabriel for the 450 Splash.

Gabriel takes too long and Cena dodges it! Cover… 1…2..3!

Team WWE are still in this!

    Elimination : Justin Gabriel
    Team Nexus : 1
    Team WWE : 1

Barrett hits the ring to try and pick off Cena early, but Cena takes him down with a Drope Toe Hold… STF!

Cena has the STF locked in tight!

Barrett is holding on, but surely he can’t hold on much longer!

    Barrett TAPS OUT!

    Elimination : Wade Barrett
    Team Nexus : 0
    Team WWE : 1

    It’s allllllll over!

Cena has pulled victory from the jaws of defeat for Team WWE!

    The End Bit

Well that’s all from L.A and that’s all from us guys.

I think the main event saved this show from being a complete bore, even The Undertaker’s return was pretty disappointing in the way it all panned out.

Daniel Bryan’s return was a bit of a shock, but our team of Informants certainly hit the nail on the head, I’ll never doubt them again

Thanks to everyone who stuck with us for the live results and everyone who let us know what you thought of the event via E-Mails and the polls!

Good night everyone, and remember if you enjoyed our coverage you can say thanks by following us on Facebook and Twitter, or if you’re feeling a little flush you can drop us a few £/$/€ on the Donate Page.
