WWE Over the Limit Reaction
WWEBlog Writer Jillian ‘IceQueen’ Bost’s Reaction to Over the Limit Live!
I attended WWE Over the Limit 2010, and I wish I could say that I enjoyed it, but I really wasn’t feeling it at all.
On a personal note, none of my favorites won their matches so I was a little miffed at that too.
Chavo Guerrero
Vs.
MVP
(Dark Match)
Crowd was into MVP.
I think even Chavo got a few cheers, but mostly they liked MVP.
Kofi Kingston
Vs.
Drew McIntyre
The fans were definitely behind Kofi Kingston. It was nice to see him win, although I would have preferred to see Christian get the Intercontinental title shot.
R-Truth
Vs.
Ted DiBiase
Virgil came out with Ted DiBiase and there was a pretty big “Virgil” chant.
He’s old school.
I wish Ted DiBiase wasn’t doing his father’s old gimmick though. It seemed like they were going to let him do his own thing but I guess not.
Rey Mysterio
Vs.
CM Punk
I have no doubt that this is an unpopular opinion, but I was disgusted and a little horrified by fans’ reactions to Mysterio shaving Punk’s head.
It was gross.
People were like salivating and shrieking in mad delight as Rey lopped off Punk’s hair.
Why the hell do people enjoy that so much? Are they all a bunch of head-shaving fetishists?
I just didn’t like it at all.
(Ed. It’s not an unpopular opinion with me at all, I’ve been saying for weeks it’s ridiculous and I can’t work out why people want to see someone getting their head shaved so badly. I think the WWE Universe probably is made up of a lot of head shaving fetishists. – JayD)
I booed during much of it, as did one guy near me, but we were pretty much alone, although Punk did get some cheers when he first came out, and I think there were a few “CM Punk” chants throughout.
Those people must have disappeared though, because I think I was the only person there crossing my arms and scowling while it went on.
I seriously wonder if the fans would have cheered Punk being killed by Mysterio or something. It was kind of scary.
Chris Jericho & The Miz
Vs.
The Hart Dynasty
Man, I really wanted Jericho and Miz to win.
There were a lot of “Y2J” chants, which was cool.
I guess it’s important to big up different teams rather than Miz and Jericho, but if Chris and Miz were not good enough to defeat them, who are Hart Dynasty’s next opponents?
I nominate Edge & Christian!!
Note: Apparently it’s the new guys that showed up on Raw on May 24. Fine. I still nominate Edge and Christian.
Randy Orton
Vs.
Edge
Edge got a good reaction from the crowd, but Randy Orton was more popular and I was kind of surprised that Orton was so dominant in this match.
It was too bad that this match ended the way it did.
Orton’s arm did look pretty gross though.
Big Show
Vs.
Jack Swagger
Big disappointment, especially after the Orton and Edge match.
I don’t particularly like either of them, but I didn’t get why Swagger was made to look so weak against Show.
Maryse
Vs.
Eve
*Mimes gagging noise* There were some perverted frat boys not too far from me so that made an already annoying situation almost unbearable.
I can’t tell you how much I wish this match hadn’t been on the card, and it sure as hell didn’t deserve to be second to last.
Pointless match.
John Cena
Vs.
Batista
I almost went deaf from the “Let’s go Cena / Cena sucks!” chants.
I actually saw one girl chanting both… I stayed out of it.
Cena got a lot of boos, but I think there were more people that liked him than didn’t.
I thought it was in pretty poor taste that during the match Batista threatened to throw Cena when they were way up in the stands, on the anniversary of Owen Hart’s death, and with the PPV having such a similar name to Over the Edge, when the tragedy occurred.
I’d like to think that it wasn’t intentional, but I dunno…
The End Bit
So yeah, for me personally at least, Over the Limit was the worst WWE pay-per-view of the year so far.
Hopefully they will do better at Fatal 4 Way.
