Money in the Bank 2010 Live Results!

Hello everyone and welcome to our live coverage of the first ever Money in the Bank Pay Per View!

We’re straight in with the Smackdown Money in the Ladder Match so I guess one of our polls has closed already! Results coming very soon!

    Match 1

Smackdown Money in the Bank Ladder Match
    Kofi Kingston
    Vs.
    Drew McIntyre
    Vs.
    Dolph Ziggler
    Vs.
    The Big Show
    Vs.
    Kane
    Vs.
    ‘Dashing’ Cody Rhodes
    Vs.
    Christian
    Vs.
    Matt Hardy

I can now reveal that the results of our Smackdown poll are as follows…

44% of you think that Drew McIntyre will take the Blue Briefcase.

No one at all voted for Kane, The Big Show, Matt Hardy, Cody Rhodes or Kofi Kingston.

One solitary person thinks that a non-entrant will take the briefcase!

All the entrants are in the ring, and here we go!

I’ll be truthful, I actually really want to watch this match, so I won’t be bringing you move by move results (as if I ever do anyway!) but I’ll try and keep up with the high spots and close calls!

Show attempts to head up the ladder early, but it crumbles under him. He tries to grab his own personal ladder but the rest of the participants mob him and take him out of the action momentarily.

Christian and Hardy both go close, but prevent each other from scoring an early win, leaving the way clear for Cody Rhodes until Kofi Kingston stops him.

Kofi climbs but gets stopped by Ziggler, who in turn does the same thing and gets very close, until Christian cuts him off and the pair brawl atop the ladder.

Christian flips him from the top but Matt Hardy dumps the ladder over before he can unhook the briefcase.

Wonder how long before we see the ‘Coyote Cam’, as King likes to call it.

Here it is, seconds later, showing Ziggler flying from the top of the ladder, King doesn’t mention his trademark (or rather Warner Bros trademark) name, maybe there’s been an injunction.

Interesting to note, there’s a Spanish Announce Table tonight, any bets as to who is going through it?

Trouble in Paradise/Twist of Fate combo on Kane, he’s out of it for now.

Hardy and Rhodes are brawling at the top of a pretty small ladder (by today’s standards) but McIntyre knocks it over and clears the ring.

Ziggler stops him half way up the tiny ladder and Kane drags him out of the ring, before stripping down the announce tables.

Already? You have to be kidding me.

Kane sets up the Chokeslam but McIntyre battles out, only to taste a Big Boot and end up laying on the table.

BRUTAL Trouble in Paradise to McIntyre on the Spanish announce table, Kofi’s setting up a ladder next to it…

Boom Drop from the ladder, through the announce table!

Whoever had Drew McIntyre to go through the Spanish announce table, congratulations!

Amazing! I think the 40% of people that voted for Drew McIntyre could have just been taken out of the running!

Ziggler has the briefcase in his hand! But Show hits the ring, dumps over the ladder and hits the best Showstopper I’ve seen him deliver in about 8 years!

Christian and Hardy try to take him out with a ladder, but he destroys both of them at once, damaging his own ribs in the process.

Show has the enormous ladder out! It’s taking him forever to get it into the ring though.

Finally he has it set up under the briefcase, but Rhodes strikes with a Hornswoggle ladder, picking off his injured ankle.

Ziggler drops Rhodes on his head, but doesn’t have enough about him to climb up the huge ladder and ends up taking yet more punishment from Show.

Kofi hits the Springboard-Ladder-Land and begins to reach for the briefcase, but Show cuts him off and takes a big DDT for his troubles.

Huge Dropkick from the top rope from Rhodes knocks Kingston from the ladder once more.

Cross Rhodes on the ladder! Both men felt that one.

Show has cleared the ring again and begins to climb.

Here comes Kane, who has been pretty non-existent so far, he tips the ladder over and Show goes ‘burbling’ over the top rope.

Show is buried under a plethora of ladders, I think that’s it for him.

Everyone is going up the huge ladder now, at the same time.

Rhodes has the Briefcase! But Kane stops him at the last second!

Kane is up the ladder, but Ziggler goes right over the top of him!

Sleeper! Half way up the damn ladder!

Kane breaks free, then botches throwing Ziggler over the top rope pretty badly.

For no reason what so ever there’s a Money in the Bank armoured truck at the top of the ramp, and Kane has just rammed Cody Rhodes into it.

We’ve got to be getting close to the end now, and it’s been a long time since McIntyre got put through that table…

Christian and Hardy are brawling at the top of the ladder now, both with their grubby mitts all over the coveted briefcase!

Both men fly from the top of the ladder and hang themselves up over the ropes.

    Annnnnnd here comes Drew!

McIntyre has the briefcase, but here comes Kane!

Chokeslam from the top of the ladder!

    KANE UNHOOKS THE BRIEFCASE!

The Big Red Machine finally has a grandstand win!

I’ve said it 100 times, Kane always gets under-used, could he be the first Superstar that fails to capitalise on the Money in the Bank briefcase?

Amazing opener and Raw will really have to go some to top this!

Kane wins the Money in the Bank Match.

    Segment 1

    Sheamus Interviewed

Backstage Josh Mathews asks WWE Champion Sheamus about coming to Cena’s aid on Raw.

Sheamus says he is a man of tremendous pride, but he’s not stupid and he realised that it was only a matter of time before The Nexus turned on him too.

He realised that he had to put his pride aside to deal with the ‘totally soulless’ threat that hangs over Raw, so he chose his side.

He says that he still has no respect for Cena, and wanted to make sure there were no excuses when he retains the WWE Championship tonight.

    Match 2

    Divas Championship Match
    Eve
    Vs.
    Alicia Fox (c)

The crowd are officially dead, but I guess that’s the price you pay when you put such a good match at the start of the card, then instantly transition to something 80% of people probably don’t care about.

Sandwich time, I’ll be sure to get back to you guys with the result though…

Axe Kick from Alicia after almost snapping Eve’s back in half by blocking a Senton Bomb.

Nothing awful, but certainly not PPV worthy.

Alicia Fox retains the Divas Championship by Pinfall.

    Segment 2

    A Family Affair

Backstage Jack Swagger is speaking to his mother on his cell phone.

Swagger tells her to shut up, then says that he isn’t to blame for the attack on his father, even having the audacity to say that he got what he deserved for trying to steal the spotlight.

He tells her that his father would have done exactly the same thing.

    Match 3

    Unified Tag Team Championship Match
    The Usos (w/Tamina)
    Vs.
    The Hart Dynasty (w/Natalya) (c)

I’m still not sure about this match.

Usually I complain when PPV rivals meet too often in the build up to the event, and yeah these two teams have met quite a few times in the lead up, but it doesn’t actually feel like there’s much substance between them.

The Usos look really good here and they have a teamwork quality that you only really get with relatives or seasoned partners.

This was short as hell and I’d have preferred it to go on longer at the expense of one of the Divas matches, but there you go.

D.H Smith scored the win with the Sharpshooter after Natalya took care of a distracting Tamina.

More to come from these guys I hope!

The Hart Dynasty retain the Unified Tag Team Championships by Pinfall.

    Match 4

    World Heavyweight Championship Match
    Jack Swagger
    Vs.
    Rey Mysterio (c)

I’m happy they are getting this match out of the way relatively early, although it still seems like a bit of a slap in the face that the Womens Championship Match has been placed higher up the card.

I’ve got a horrible feeling this match will consist almost entirely of Swagger picking off the ankle, only for Rey to pull out a fluke win at the end with his big 4 or 5 moves.

On the plus side, there’s the remote chance Kane will cash in immediately afterwards, which will keep me mildly interested in what happens.

Swagger is getting massive heat for how he treated his parents.

Mysterio can ‘barely walk’ as he makes his entrance, surely this can’t go on too long if we’re meant to consider this injury in any way plausible.

Immediately Swagger goes after the ankle, but Rey continually dodges his advances.

Mysterio’s in the Tree of Woe… but he dodges Swagger’s run and the All American American hits the turnbuckle hard with his neck.

Mysterio flies from the top rope and hits the Seated Senton on the outside, but back in the ring Swagger hits a Belly to Belly from the top to regain control.

‘Lets go Swagger’ echoes around the arena, although I think that’s more in hope that he gets a quick victory than anything else.

Swagger has some sort of Knee submission on Mysterio, he could have easily transitioned into the Ankle Lock but I guess the match isn’t meant to peak yet, so he holds it until Mysterio boots him in the face a few times to escape.

Mysterio gets a long 2 count with the Split Legged Moonsault.

Matt Striker mentions how odd it is to see Rey pulling off moves he doesn’t usually go for, and that it must be a sign of how inured he is.

Gutwrench Powerbomb! But Mysterio makes sure he is just close enough to the ropes to break the count after 2.

Huricanrana into the ring post, Mysterio is on the top rope again…

Swagger is up there too now…

Swagger goes for a Powerslam but Rey reverses it into a VERY impressive Jump-Swinging DDT which gets a 2.

    619!

Rey goes for the Springboard but Swagger catches him and locks on the Ankle Lock.

Mysterio gets to the ropes but then gets squashed with a pair of rope-assisted Splashes in the corner.

More punishment on to the Ankle now and Rey begins to loosen his boot, which is a bad strategy as it causes the ankle to swell even more according to Striker.

Ankle Lock! But Rey’s boot comes off!

Cue lots of Eddie Guerrero references.

    Huricanrana! 1..2..3!

Mysterio has retained the World Heavyweight Championship against the odds!

Swagger’s got the Ankle Lock cinched in now, but here comes Kane!

Unfortunately it looks like he’s forgotten that he won the Money in the Bank earlier on, as he focuses on Swagger, running him up the ramp and to the back.

    Or maybe he hasn’t!

Here’s Kane again, with the briefcase and a referee!

Looks like we’ve got us an impromptu match!

Rey Mysterio retains the World Heavyweight Championship by Pinfall.

    Match 5

    World Heavyweight Championship Match
    Kane
    Vs.
    Rey Mysterio (c)

    Chokeslam!

    Tombstone!

    1..2..3!

We’ve got a new World Heavyweight Champion!

    And it’s about time too!

Finally Smackdown has a decent World Champion, and I for one hope this reign lasts a LONG time.

Kane wins by Pinfall and becomes the NEW World Heavyweight Champion.

    Segment 3

    Edge & Jericho

Backstage Edge is watching what just happened in the ring when Jericho approaches him.

The pair both lay down their credentials for winning the Raw Money in the Bank match later tonight and Jericho tells Edge that tonight will be far from ‘fun’, as he has been saying for the past few weeks.

    Match 6

    Womens Championship Match
    Kelly Kelly (w/Tiffany)
    Vs.
    Layla (w/Michelle McCool) (c)

I must admit I paid little to no attention to this match.

I did notice that all four Divas looked hot, and after all, that’s what they’re there for, right?

Upshot is Michelle got involved a bit, then got her comeuppance, and Layla retained the gold.

Layla retains the Womens Championship by Pinfall.

    Match 7

Raw Money in the Bank Match

Raw Money in the Bank Ladder Match
    The Miz
    Vs.
    Mark Henry
    Vs.
    Edge
    Vs.
    Randy Orton
    Vs.
    John Morrison
    Vs.
    Chris Jericho
    Vs.
    Ted DiBiase (w/Maryse)
    Vs.
    Evan Bourne

It’s Money in the Bank time again, so who do you guys think will win?

Well, a staggering 48% of you think that Orton is likely to snatch the Red Briefcase, with John Morrison and The Miz tying it up for second with 14% and Edge coming up third.

No one expects Evan Bourne, Mark Henry or Ted DiBiase to win and more people expect a mystery entrant to take the contract than Chris Jericho.

As with the previous MitB match, I’ll be watching it pretty closely but I’ll try and bring you info on all the important bits.

Some sloppy action in the early going here as DiBiase and John Morrison battle over a ladder.

Mark Henry just destroyed The Miz, sliding over him through the ropes.

Unfortunately for The Worlds Strongest Man, as he celebrated Jericho clocked him in the mouth with a ladder.

Evan Bourne has his hands on the briefcase, but Edge prevents him from unhooking it at the price of a Huricanrana.

Orton’s back in the ring now, Ladder-assisted DDT! Evan Bourne just spiked into the canvas!

Flying Chuck (which they keep calling a ‘Flash Kick’ for some reason) on Orton, but Morrison inexplicably stumbles backwards and bangs into a ladder.

DiBiase and The Miz look to capitalise but Morrison reverses the pair of them and sets off after the briefcase.

    We’ve got duelling ladders!

Edge and Morrison battling on one, Jericho and Orton on the other, with the briefcase swinging between the two.

Mark Henry does the Worlds Strongest Man bit and tips both ladders over, but then gets dropped by Bourne.

With everyone down Maryse has decided to seize the opportunity!

She gets half way up the ladder when John Morrison returns to the ring.

He helps her down and tells her to get out of the ring, but Ted DiBiase takes advantage and flies up the ladder.

Morrison prevents him from unhooking the briefcase and the match continues.

After riding a ladder into another ladder Morrison’s got all tangled up in one, like literally inside the ladder.

Miz and Edge momentarily work together to exploit the situation, before the Ultimate Opportunist turns and drills The Miz.

Ted DiBiase has set up some sort of contraption in the ring, with no real purpose, he’s up the ladder and has his hands on the prize!

Mark Henry cuts him off and hits a Worlds Strongest Slam!

Jericho’s in with a Hornswoggle Ladder, but he gets floored and has The Miz dropped on top of him for good measure.

Mark Henry begins to climb but Evan Bourne rides his back to the top!

He’s got it! But Edge and Orton make the save and toss him into the waiting arms of Mark Henry, who hits another Worlds Strongest Slam.

Finisher Fest on Mark Henry! Flying Chuck, CodeBreaker & a Spear on the outside!

Five guys are now climbing DiBiase’s superstructure, and he’s just added another piece to it.

There’s a big spot coming here for sure!

Orton and Edge slam DiBiase onto one of the ladders and send him for a ride on it over the top rope.

RKO! on Edge. Jericho boots Orton in the head to put him out of action briefly.

Jericho and Morrison are battling at the top of the ladder now…

Jericho’s hung up! Morrison climbs, but Orton’s back in!

RKO! Followed immediately by a Air Bourne on Orton!

Bourne has the briefcase! But he can’t unhook it!

Jericho makes the save twice and clocks him around the head with the briefcase!

    Shades of WrestleMania!

The briefcase is swinging around all over the place and Jericho can’t grab it before Edge hits the top of the ladder.

RKO on Jericho! But Edge is at the top of the ladder and closing in on the briefcase!

Orton throws Edge into DiBiase’s megastructure! There’s only Orton left!

Orton has it! But The Miz makes the save at the very last second, dumping over the ladder!

The Miz has his hands on the briefcase! He’s done it!

    THE MIZ UNHOOKS THE BRIEFCASE!

Well, I really can’t pick between the two Money in the Bank matches tonight.

I was sceptical when I saw this event on the PPV calendar, but it’s been by far the best event of the year in my opinion.

The Miz has a microphone, I wonder what he’s got to say…

He tells the crowd they are all living in HIS moment and said by winning the briefcase he has officially ‘made it’.

He tells them to take a good hard look at Mr. Money in the Bank and says that he is a future WWE Champion, because he’s The Miz, and he’s Awesome.

Who’s betting he cashes in and doesn’t win?

The Miz wins the Money in the Bank Match.

    Main Event Match

    WWE Championship Cage Match
    John Cena
    Vs.
    Sheamus (c)

Before the hype for this match began a promo for SummerSlam played and it showed The Undertaker pretty prominently as a Superstar who would be at the event.

Looks like the WWEBlog Informant was spot on once again.

The cage lowering music is playing so it looks like it’s time for our MAIN EVENT!

39 different wrestlers have held the WWE Championship since Buddy Rogers first won it in 1963, and Sheamus’ current run is the 100th in it’s illustrious existence.

Something interesting there from Michael Cole for a change.

‘Lets go Sheamus’ from the crowd, completely drowning out the ‘Lets go Cena’ trying to battle back.

    I like this crowd!

The bell rings and we’re officially under-way!

Sheamus has started by far the better here, driving Cena’s face into the cage to cap off a flurry of offence.

Sadly tonight’s match can be won by pinfall/submission as well as escape, and so Sheamus grabs an early 2 count.

Both guys are in a slugfest now, Cena shots are taking the boos and Sheamus’ are drawing huge cheers.

How long before the creative team realise they have to turn Cena?

I’ve just had an e-mail from none other than the WWEBlog Informant, asking me to deliver some news to the WWEBlog fans, so here goes:

Hello everyone! I hope you’re enjoying the PPV, just a quick snippet of gossip from yours truly while you wait for more updates from the WWE Championship Match!

You may remember JayD mentioned that the WWE Ident had been changed this week, and asked if I was able to shed any light on the situation.

Well, here is said light being shed.

One of the voices removed from the ident was that of Good Ole’ JR, sparking many to believe that he had been removed as his ties to the company slowly become severed.

    This is only partially true.

The fact is the big Oklahoman was cut from the ident for being spotted at a UFC event.

As ridiculous as it sounds, would I lie to you?

Well that’s all from me, enjoy the rest of the Pay Per View guys!

    -The Informant

Sheamus has a big Sleeper locked in here, wrapped around Cena like an ‘anaconda’ according to Striker and Cole.

Cena somehow stands up and gets to the ropes, but there’s no break in this match.

For some reason Cena begins to climb the cage with Sheamus hung on his back!

Sheamus eventually drops off and knocks Cena from the top rope, covering for a 2 count.

    Cena’s recovered now… 5 Knuckle Shuffle!

Cena goes for the Attitude Adjustment but Sheamus crawls off his shoulders and up the cage!

The pair are brawling on the top rope now… Sheamus hits the canvas.

Cena refuses to climb over the cage and instead goes for a top-rope 5 Knuckle Shuffle, which misses.

Sheamus has tied Cena up in the ropes! He’s wailing away on him now.

This situation always annoys me, why would you not just head for the door?

Sheamus is climbing up the cage now, using Cena as a stepping stone.

Cena powers out of the rope and prevents The Celtic Warrior’s escape just in time, the match continues.

Cena goes for the Attitude Adjustment but Sheamus reverses and hits The Irish Curse, as a quiet but clear ‘Cena Sucks’ chant breaks out in the crowd.

Pump Kick (or Brogue Kick) gets a looooooong 2 count for Sheamus.

Sheamus considers climbing out of the cage, but instead decides to go for the Celtic Cross, which backfires.

Attitude Adjustment! 1..2.. Sheamus kicks out!

Wow, no one kicks out of the Attitude Adjustment.

    Here come The Nexus!

Michael Tarver has some bolt cutters, but the official on the outside snatches them away from him and runs off to the back, leaving Jack Doan in a compromising situation.

They demand the key from him, but he tosses it into the crowd.

Mini-Flair takes a bump in the ring and Cena locks on the STF, but as Sheamus taps all the officials are otherwise occupied, so the match continues.

Cena scales the cage to try and escape but Justin Gabriel does the same on the other side and holds him on the top.

Cena dumps Gabriel into the ring, but as he tries to climb down the other side of the cage The Nexus prevent him from dropping to the floor.

On the other side of the ring Sheamus flies up the cage and escapes, with Heath Slater failing to stop him.

Sheamus exits through the crowd and the majority of The Nexus follow him, leaving Darren Young and Michael Tarver to face Cena’s wrath.

Cena picks up the steel steps and hurls them at Tarver, shouting and screaming about taking every last one of The Nexus out.

He strips the N armband from Tarver’s arm and heads to the back as the show comes to an end.

Sheamus retains the WWE Championship by Escaping the Cage.

    The End Bit

Best Pay Per View of the year in my opinion.

Two great Money in the Bank matches, a nice twist at the end of the Heavyweight title match and a fairly enjoyable WWE Championship match.
