Fatal 4 Way 2010 Live Results!

Hello everyone and welcome to our live coverage of yet another WWE re-branded PPV; Fatal 4 Way!

We’re straight into the action tonight in New York, so lets find out what’s happening!

    Segment 1

    Mr. McMahon Starts the Show

Mr. McMahon starts the show tonight and he’s here to inform us all that Bret won’t be in attendance after the heinous attack he suffered at the hands of the NXT Season 1 Rookies, which he shows on the screen.

He says that he’s meeting with Bret’s representatives later to night to discuss when he’ll be back, and what actions will be taken against those responsible.

Drew McIntyre has taken this opportunity to make his entrance, shaking hands with Vince as he makes his way to the ring for the opening bout of the evening!

Mr. McMahon is then shown leaving the arena in a limo.

    Match 1

    Intercontinental Championship Match
    Drew McIntyre
    Vs.
    Kofi Kingston (c)

McIntyre has grabbed a microphone before the match starts. He tells Teddy Long that as per Mr. McMahon’s orders, he has to be out at ringside for this bout. As Teddy heads down the ramp McIntyre fires a tirade of insults at him, including calling the G.M ‘pathetic’ and without pride. McIntyre tells him that he can have the honour of handing over the title when he reclaims it.

Kofi Kingston has made his way to the ring and the match has begun, so I’ll just go and tally up the votes and let you guys know what the fans verdict is on this one!

Well, I can reveal that a HUGE 79% think that Kofi Kingston is going to retain the title tonight.

Bit of a rushed start to tonight’s show, so I apologise for that, but we’re set now and so this has been a pretty back and forth affair, probably with McIntyre getting the better of it. He’s injured Kofi’s arm and seems to be focusing on it almost exclusively now.

Kingston just turned this match in a split second, hitting a beautiful Floatover DDT to reverse a Clothesline, which spiked McIntyre into the canvas ‘like a nail’ according to The King.

After a hell of a lot more back and forth Kofi locks on a pretty unique Head-Scissors Submission in the corner, McIntyre escapes but inadvertently lays out the ref.

Future Shock! But there’s no referee!

McIntyre drags Long from the outside, makes him put on the stripes and orders him to count.

Teddy counts 1..2.. but refuses to count the 3, shaking his head but looking pretty sombre at the same time.

McIntyre’s focused on Long now, it’s not looking good for the G.M.

He tells him to count, then goes for a second Future Shock…

    MATT HARDY! Twist of Fate!

    Trouble in Paradise! 1..2..3!

Anyone who didn’t see that coming needs their heads examining… wait? What? I said McIntyre would win in my Previews?

I guess I’m losing my touch.

Not an awful opener, but not the brilliant match I had expected.

Apologies for anyone experiencing issues with the layout of the page during that match, we’ve ironed out most of the bugs.

Kofi Kingston wins by Pinfall and retains the Intercontinental Championship.

    Segment 2

    The Hart Dynasty Interviewed

Backstage The Hart Dynasty are asked if they are ready to participate in a 6 person Tag Match so soon after their uncle’s attack (this match is news to us).

They basically said they were going to fight for the honour of Bret, who they saw as their father.

    Match 2

Divas Championship Fatal 4 Way Match
    Eve (c)
    Vs.
    Maryse
    Vs.
    Alicia Fox
    Vs.
    Gail Kim

This is a surprise, I fully expected this match to be on between the two heavyweight title bouts.

This is a much better spot for it, but I do worry what I’ll do if I end up needing a drink/toilet break later in the show.

So who do you guys think will win?

Well, 45% of you thought Maryse would win, 20% of you didn’t care at all, and the 5% of you who voted for Alicia Fox…were dead right.

She picked up the win after cashing in on all Gail Kim’s hard work, stealing the 3 and the title.

Alicia Fox wins by Pinfall and becomes the NEW WWE Divas Champion.

    Segment 3

    Mysteri-Show

Backstage Rey Mysterio is warming up when The Big Show enters.

Show dismisses Rey’s chances of winning tonight, telling him that some obstacles are just too big to overcome and that he’ll knock him out as soon as look at him tonight if it means taking the World Heavyweight Championship.

Rey said his heart was bigger than Show’s fist, and the crowd actually booed a bit.

    Match 3

    Singles Match
    Chris Jericho
    Vs.
    Evan Bourne

Another impromptu match on the card. We kinda expected it though, with so few bouts announced before the show.

Jericho grabbed a microphone and said that for years he has been the reason people watch WWE, but lately he’s noticed that he isn’t the ‘Buzz word’ any more, and even his NXT Rookie is getting more publicity than him.

He said that for the majority of his career he’s been fighting uphill, trying to knock someone else off their perch, but now he’s top of the food chain and he now has a target on his back for other aspiring Superstars to aim for.

He singled out Evan Bourne as being the latest pretender to his throne, and that’s why he’s challenged him to a re-match tonight.

I don’t like Evan Bourne, I’ve been pretty straight about this fact in the past.

I appreciate his skill, but truth be told he bores me. I much prefer Jericho in every aspect.

And it looks like I’m not alone in feeling this way, as a huge ‘Lets go Jericho’ chant is currently echoing around the arena, despite Bourne’s control of the match and high flying antics.

Jericho is back in control now, after pulling a ‘veteran move’ by springboard-dropkicking Bourne from the apron as he tried to return to the ring.

Jericho has the Walls locked in! But Bourne makes it to the ropes.

Both guys are brawling on the outside now, Jericho has the better of things at the moment. Bourne avoids some impact and hurls Jericho into the steel steps!

Back inside the ring now, Bourne is on top… Knees from the top rope, slamming Jericho to the mat! 1..2.. Kick out!

Jericho regains control momentarily but Bourne drops him with a Knee… going for the Air Bourne…

Jericho dodges it! CodeBreaker! 1..2.. Bourne gets his foot on the ropes!

Jericho is screaming at Bourne now, telling him to stay down and calling him an idiot.

Bourne gets the roll-up! 1..2.. Jericho barely kicks out!

Wow! Bourne just countered the Walls of Jericho into a huge Spinning DDT! I don’t like the guy, but that was pretty special.

Air Bourne! Jericho countered it twice but finally Bourne hits it, with Jericho laid on his front! 1..2..3!

    Great match!

Bourne has earned a few points with me here, but he really needs some work on his promo delivery, or a manager to do it for him before I can really warm to him fully.

    Evan Bourne wins by Pinfall.

    Match 4

World Heavyweight Championship Fatal 4 Way Match
    Jack Swagger (c)
    Vs.
    The Big Show
    Vs.
    C.M Punk
    Vs.
    Rey Mysterio

The introductory promo video match told the story all too clearly regarding this match.

There was about 30 seconds to do with the world championship and about 5 minutes focusing on The Undertaker’s ‘vegetative state’ and Kane’s vigilante rampage.

I wonder how this would have panned out if Taker hadn’t gotten injured in that match against Rey, given that the whole match has focused pretty much exclusively around Kane’s man hunt.

Interestingly, Punk sent his S.E.S to the back as he entered, seemingly wanting to do this alone. I’ll put money on the Mystery Member showing up at some point.

Anyway, with all four guys in the ring, I guess I should check the Poll results!

38% of you agreed with myself and Gabe for this one, plumping for The Big Show, while only 1 solitary person thought that C.M Punk could possibly win this match, and I have to admit I know who that 1 person is, and I have a feeling he might be right.

You see that one person, was the WWEBlog Informant, and it just so happens he’s got a tidbit of information:

    Hello WWEBloggers!

I hope you’re all enjoying WWE Fatal 4 Way as much as I am. I thought I’d take a few moments out of my evening to drop a little bit of gossip your way.

Rumour has it that the feud between Rey Mysterio and C.M Punk is far from over, and the WWE Creative team have decided the best way to freshen it up is to throw the World Heavyweight Championship into the mix.

WWE Creative are notorious for not liking to change their plans if they can help it, and given that Rey Mysterio technically shouldn’t be in this match in the first place, that only leaves Punk for the win.

Hey, I could be wrong, but I’ve keep my ear close to the ground on this one, and that’s what the rumblings are telling me.

Enjoy the rest of the show!

    -The Informant

So far The Big Show has been pretty much dominating this match, but he’s currently down on the outside and Swagger is looking to make Rey tap out in the centre of the ring.

Rey has battled out now and looks to be setting up for the 619… but Punk flies off the top rope and prevents him from hitting it.

Very nice spot from Swagger/Punk/Mysterio, with a Triple German Supplex. It’s not often you see a regular German these days, never mind one with three guys.

    Uh oh, Show’s back up!

He just bounced Mysterio off the announce table like a basketball, then cleared house in the ring.

Michael Cole just dropped the biggest gaffe of the evening yet, confusing C.M Punk with Rey Mysterio. They both have masks on I guess.

Mysterio takes Show out of the picture again with some Steel Steps to the knee, then in the ring Punk hits the GTS on Swagger!

Everyone is down… and here comes Kane!

He grabs Punk and Chokeslams him into the casket that he wheeled to ringside!

As he tries to close the lid Luke Gallows makes the save and heads backstage with Punk, leaving Mysterio to pick the bones!

Mysterio drops the dime and covers Swagger for the 1..2..3!

Well, I guess The Informant was half right!

A pretty poor ending to be honest, Kane had next to no impact and we’re still none the wiser as to who attacked Taker.

Rey Mysterio wins by Pinfall and becomes the NEW World Heavyweight Champion.

    Segment 4

    John Cena Interviewed

Huge boos for the WWE Champion as Josh Mathews introduced him.

He asked Cena if he was afraid of an NXT attack tonight during the title match.

Cena said that they were half expecting it and he believes that he and the other 3 guys in the match have an unwritten agreement that they would stand united if it happened.

Mathews asked him how he rated his chances with 2 titles already changing hands, and he said that anything can happen but he’d give it his all, or something like that.

    Match 5

    United States Championship Match
    The Miz (c)
    Vs.
    R-Truth

There’s a lot of talking tonight.

The Miz emerges with a microphone and says that he’s changed the lyrics to R-Truth’s ‘Whats Up’.

He then lays down some lyrics (and not too badly actually) about him being the US Champion for the second time, although when he gets to the ring he seems to forget some of his lyrics.

Huge ‘Miz is Awesome’ chant as the match gets underway, Michael Cole tries his best to cover it up by saying they were chanting ‘Miz is Awful’, but that isn’t what I heard.

The results of our poll are in!

63% of you guys think R-Truth will win back the title tonight. I’m hoping you’re wrong, but I guess we’ll find out soon enough!

After being dumped to the outside R-Truth makes it back into the ring at the count of 9, Truth is in a bad way already here, apparently suffering from damaged ribs.

Miz hits his cute little Clothesline thing in the corner, grabbing a 2 count before locking on some BodyScissors.

Truth escapes but Miz drops him again for another 2 count then locks him in the ropes and barely avoids disqualification when he refuses to break the hold.

I sure hope R-Truth doesn’t hit the devastating Lie Detector, if he does it’ surely over!

Truth almost grabs the win with the Supplex Stunner, I really like that move, he should switch it up to Finisher.

Just noticed on our Twitter feed that Zack Ryder picked up a win over M.V.P in the dark match tonight! Well done to him.

Truth’s domination clearly isn’t going down well with part of the crowd, as a ‘This is Boring’ chant is currently picking up momentum around the crowd, who are otherwise completely dead.

As much as I love The Miz, this match is way too high up the card.

Small Package from Truth! 1..2.. Kick out!

Truth goes for a Sunset Flip… but Miz sits down on it! 1..2..3!

    It’s all over, thankfully.

This match suffered totally from being so high up the card, I feel for these guys actually because it wasn’t a bad match.

I feel even worse for The Hart Dynasty and The Usos, they’ve got to go on now and try to get the crowd warmed up again.

If this match bombed, I don’t know what’s going to happen in this next one.

The Miz wins by Pinfall and retains the United States Championship.

    Segment 5

    Edge Interviewed

Backstage Todd Grisham asks Edge how he feels about tonight’s match, but Edge instead decides to go over everyone else’s mindset instead.

John Cena is worried because everyone in Fatal 4 Ways tonight have lost titles.

Randy Orton is worried about still being injured.

Sheamus is worried because he hasn’t got enough experience.

And the only thing going through Edge’s head is leaving the new WWE Champion.

    Match 6

Mixed 6 Person Tag Team Match
    The Hart Dynasty
    Vs.
    The Usos

As predicted, the crowd are once again completely dead.

There’s great stuff going on in the ring, but the crowd don’t seem to give a damn at all, and why should they?

The World Heavyweight Championship match is a distant memory now, and with all the focus seemingly on the WWE Championship, why should anyone care about this one?

Well, if this match had opened the show, I think they’d be popping like crazy at some of the spots here.

One of the Usos (still not sure which is which yet) just caught a flying Tyson Kidd on his shoulders and hit a Samoan Drop into the barricades with sickening impact. The crowd barely even gasped.

The sad thing is, this could have been a really promising Pay Per View, but I think the booking team really have to take the bullet here for their completely disjointed running order.

That said, I saw this match for what it truly was, a great tag team bout with some impressive Divas stuff thrown in for good measure.

As they always inevitably do, the match broke down at the end and with Tamina on the top rope it looked like a victory on the cards for The Usos.

However, Natalya dodged it and struck with the Spinning Clothesline to grab the 3 count and a victory dedicated to Bret.

The Hart Dynasty win by Pinfall.

    Main Event Match

WWE Championship Fatal 4 Way Match
    John Cena (c)
    Vs.
    Sheamus
    Vs.
    Edge
    Vs.
    Randy Orton

So we’re here, at the main event of the evening!

The poll results are in, and a massive 66% of you think John Cena is on his way to retaining the gold tonight.

Sheamus is your rank outsider for this one, garnering only 8% of the votes.

After a promo video that seemed to go on forever, and entrances that seemed to go on just as long (including a very mixed response for Cena and a huge ovation for Orton) this match is finally up and running!

If tonight has taught me anything, it’s that Fatal 4 Way matches are hard to keep track of when you’re trying to document the action.

I’ll try and bring you guys as much detail as possible, but no promises.

Cena and Orton tie up early here, with Edge and Sheamus dumped to the outside.

Both guys go for their finishers, to no avail.

Sheamus and Edge have recovered now and are currently working as a team, beating the hell out of Cena, while a massive ‘Lets go Cena/Cena Sucks’ chant war breaks out.

The alliance didn’t last long, as Edge rolls Sheamus up for a 2 count, kicking off a brawl between the two of them.

Rather strangely The Hart Dynasty and R-Truth are shown backstage, watching this match on the monitors. Matt Striker says that with Money in the Bank coming up next month, everyone has an eye on the title picture.

Edge goes for a Flying Crossbody from the top on Orton, but Randy ducks and Edge catches Sheamus with it instead.

Orton has cleared the ring of everyone but Cena, and is now picking apart the WWE Champion.

Cena avoided a big Knee from Orton, and now Sheamus is in the ring.

Irish Curse Backbreaker! (No, I’m not kidding, that’s really what it’s called) 1..2.. Cena barely kicks out!

Sheamus is setting up for the ‘High Cross’ on Cena, but Edge returns to the ring, goes for a Spear and hits the ringpost instead.

Orton’s back in charge now… Double Rope Assisted DDT on Sheamus and Cena!

Now Edge is back in, and setting up for a Spear on Cena!

He hits the turnbuckle again and Cena begins to build momentum, much to the distaste of the crowd who boo the hell out of the ‘You can’t see me’.

I wonder if we’ve got a crowd here that won’t all cheer like idiots when he wins, despite booing him for the majority of the match.

We might not get to find out, as Orton sneaks up behind him and hits his trademark Backbreaker.

Sheamus does the same thing to Orton and dumps him out of the ring after a kick to the midsection, but then Cena throws The Celtic Warrior over the top rope.

Spear! Edge Spears Orton through the ropes, sending him into the barricade.

STF! Cena locks it onto Edge in the middle of the ring, and no one else is in sight!

Edge looks close to tapping, but Sheamus thankfully makes the save and the match continues.

This match is really all over the place in terms of momentum, no one seems to have the upper hand for longer than a few seconds.

RKO on Cena! 1..2.. Sheamus stops the referee from counting the three and the match continues!

Spear on Orton! But Sheamus hits Edge with the Pump Kick and covers for himself! 1..2.. Orton kicks out!

The action is on the outside now, and Sheamus just got thrown right into the announce table!

We cut once again to the guys watching on the screen backstage, when the NXT Season 1 guys whow up and beat the hell out of them.

I knew they had a purpose! Guess where the NXT guys are heading now…

Michael Cole is in a pretty bad way at ringside, having had Sheamus dumped right on top of him.

The NXT guys storm the ring. Cena tries to fight them off but the numbers end up being too much. Edge joins the fight but again the numbers game catches upto him.

With everyone’s focus on Edge, Sheamus slides into the ring and makes the cover for the 1..2..3! We have a new champion!

    But we’re not done yet.

The NXT guys are still beating the hell out of Cena in the ring and it’s Finisher-Fest time!

As Sheamus poses on the staging with his newly won title, the NXT guys turn their attention to him and sprint up the ramp as he exits through the curtain.

Orton must have taken a beating at some point too, as all the three remaining guys are laying around ringside as the show draws to a close.

As with the World Heavyweight Championship match, this ending felt really disjointed and lacking in impact.

I expected some of the other guys in the back to hit the ring and make the save, but it just never happened.

Still, it’s nice to see the title off Cena and I like Sheamus so I can live with this result.

Sheamus wins by Pinfall and becomes the NEW WWE Champion.

    The End Bit

So there you have it folks, Fatal 4 Way.

I can’t help but think this would have been so much better if it had been ordered better.

There were a few decent matches on the card, but the majority of them suffered from a lack of enthusiasm from the crowd, who were probably just as confused at the layout of the PPV as I was.

Thanks to everyone for joining us tonight, and to all of you who decided to follow us on Twitter and Facebook!

We hope to see you again soon, but goodnight for now!
