    Extreme Rules 2010 Live Results!

Hello everyone and welcome to the Extreme Rules 2010 live results!

Although tonight’s card doesn’t look the most interesting we’ve seen so far, I have every faith that the stipulations applied should be enough to make tonight worth following, and we’re glad as always that you’ve chosen to follow it with us!

As always if you want to get in touch, drop us an email to contactus@wweblog.co.uk or use the handy Contact Form.

    Lets get the show started!

    Segment 1

    Impromptu Start

We’re straight into the action tonight, without even so much as an entrance!

Triple H’s music played, but when he didn’t appear the cameras headed backstage where we saw that Sheamus had jumped him.

Referee’s attempted to split the action up, but Sheamus struck The Game with a steel pipe before leaving.

It looks like we won’t be seeing this match now, or possibly even at all tonight.

After a moment of pondering from the three man commentary team ShowMiz made their way to the ring.

Miz says as things haven’t gone to plan the show is going to instead start with them, the greatest tag team ever.

Miz babbles on about how Bret Hart will have to make that announcement on Raw tomorrow, then begs for some competition to show up from the back and take them on.

Teddy Long hits the stage and says he has his hands full with what just happened in the back (it seems he’s taken over Raw too for the night) but tells them that they’ll face a team of his choosing tonight and if this mystery team wins they will get a shot at the titles in the future.

Miz tells Teddy there’s no one that can beat them, so Teddy adds a second and a third team to the mix in a Gauntlet style match, threatening to add a fourth until The Big Show shuts his partner up.

    Match 1

    Tag Team Gauntlet Match
    ShowMiz
    Vs.
    R-Truth & John Morrison

I couldn’t believe ShowMiz were left out of the Extreme Rules card, so their appearance here doesn’t really surprise me, although the manner in which tonight’s show began is certainly a little more bizarre than I expected.

I hate the fact that Morrison got saddled with R-Truth as a tag team partner, so I’m happy to announce that they won’t be getting another shot at the Unified Tag Team Championships.

Morrison locked an Arm-Bar on Show over the top rope and refused to release the hold, leading to a count-out.

    ShowMiz win by Disqualification.

    Match 1.2

    Tag Team Gauntlet Match
    ShowMiz
    Vs.
    The World’s Strongest Tag Team

I’m glad Mark Henry showed up tonight, because it leads perfectly into one of tonight’s features; The Informant’s Cheap Shots.

I’ve been in touch with the WWEBlog Informant and he’s passed on some little bits of info for me to work into tonight’s results, and here’s the first.

Mark Henry got into some hot water this past week while stranded in Belfast, Ireland. After brawling with a fan the former Worlds Strongest Man found himself arrested, leaving his WWE future in serious doubt.

    -The Informant

This statement seems to be backed up by the result here, with M.V.P falling victim to the Knockout Punch and a quick loss.

    ShowMiz win by Pinfall.

    Match 1.3

    Tag Team Gauntlet Match
    ShowMiz
    Vs.
The Hart Dynasty (w/Bret Hart & Natalya)

Ok, so who didn’t see this coming?

Nothing much to report here, Kidd and Smith hit the Hart Attack almost immediately to pick up the pinfall and a shot at the Unified Tag Team Championships tomorrow on Raw.

The Hart Dynasty win by Pinfall.

    Segment 2

    The Smug Warrior

Backstage Todd Grisham is waiting to find out more about the status of Triple H when Sheamus shows up.

He tells everyone that he’ll be coming to the ring later and it’s upto Triple H whether he swallows his pride and joins him, or hands him the victory by forfeit.

    Match 2

    Singles Match
    C.M Punk (w/The S.E.S)
    Vs.
    Rey Mysterio

I’m glad they’re getting all the ‘less interesting’ matches out of the way early on. I mean really, does anyone care if Punk gets his head shaved?

I’m surprised the Cryme Tyme Strap Match hasn’t been on yet though, maybe we’ll get lucky and they’ll have bumped it to a dark slot.

This has bounced back and forth so far, but Mysterio seems to be getting the upper hand now…

Looks like I spoke too soon, Luke Gallows lands a big cheap shot while Punk keeps the referee distracted!

Two very near falls for C.M Punk, who has now locked on a textbook Bow and Arrow, not seen one of those for a while.

Mysterio battles out but gets floored by a brutal clothesline seconds later, yet another 2 count for the Second City Saint.

Punk’s pulling out some offence tonight that I don’t recall seeing him use before, Gory Special locked in at the minute.

Mysterio again battles out and fights back, knotting Punk’s thigh up with some kicks then escapes the GTS and sets up for the 6.1.9!

Serena cuts him off as he hits the ropes. The referee’s ejecting Serena and Gallows!

Things just started to look up for all you head shaving fetishists out there!

Mysterio nearly took Punk’s head off with a running boot! Rey’s heading to the apron… Springboard Seated Senton!

Ooh, big counter from Punk seconds later, Mid-air dropkick to Rey’s injured ribs.

Now it’s Punk’s turn to use some Springboard offence, grabbing a 2 from a Flying Forearm.

GTS! No! Reversed into a roll-up! 1..2.. Punk JUST gets his shoulder up!

Huge kick to Mysterio’s head! 1..2.. Mysterio kicks out this time!

Real back and forth action here. The crowd are calling for the 619, but Mysterio’s the one in control at the minute.

    619! Wait, what the hell?

A guy in a hood just slid a chair into the ring, then dropped Mysterio on his face while the referee was distracted.

Hmm, I don’t think we were meant to know who it was, but the hood came off and it looked a hell of a lot like Skip Sheffield.

Punk’s rolling Mysterio back into the ring… GTS! 1..2..3.

Beautifully done. I have to admit when Punk lost part of his hair on Raw I thought he’d lose this one, but this is much better.

I don’t know how long we’ll have to wait to find out who that was, but it certainly looks a lot like Skip in the replay.

    C.M Punk wins by Pinfall.

    Match 3

    Strap Match
    Shad Gaspard
    Vs.
    JTG

I’ve never really liked Strap Matches, due mainly to the inconsistency in the whole ‘touching the turnbuckles in succession’ thing.

This one’s only been going a few minutes and Shad’s already come within inches of ending it. I thought he wanted to punish his former friend?

JTG’s back on the offence now after hanging Shad up on the top rope.

Perfect example of the ‘inconsistency’ I talked about moments ago, JTG just hit a turnbuckle, then hit a top-rope leg-drop, then hit his 2nd turnbuckle, yet the rules say it has to be consecutive.

Shad’s controlling things now, choking JTG with the leather and his own arm.

Shad’s hung JTG up on his back and is walking round touching the corners, but in the old Strap Match cliche JTG is also touching them unbeknownst to the big man.

JTG stopped Shad touching the 4th turnbuckle, hit his finisher and jumped on the 4th turnbuckle to win the match.

I don’t agree with how it happened, but at least it’s over.

Boring and not really worthy of a PPV shot. I think I’d actually rather have seen a Divas Championship Match.

    JTG wins the Strap Match.

    Segment 3

    Game Over?

Todd Grisham reports from the back that Triple H has suffered trauma to his neck and as a result has nerve damage down one side of his body.

He concludes that it doesn’t look like The Game is going to be able to compete tonight, drawing boos from the crowd.

    Match 3

World Heavyweight Championship Extreme Rules Match
    Jack Swagger (c)
    Vs.
    Randy Orton

Just to confirm, the Extreme Rules match is pretty much the modern-day equivalent of the Hardcore Match, except the result has to occur INSIDE the ring.

No count-outs, no disqualification, this match will only end by way of Pinfall or Submission.

While both guys make their entrances I think I’ll take the opportunity to hit you with another one of The Informant’s Cheap Shots:

Rumour has it that the biggest trades in tomorrows Draft will see Randy Orton and Edge switch brands.

If that is indeed the case it means that not only will Extreme Rules see the end of the Edge/Jericho feud, it would make it perfectly plausible for Orton to claim the World Heavyweight Championship.

    - The Informant

A somewhat uncertain start from both men, although the action has spilled to the outside now.

Swagger goes for a chair but Orton knocks it from his hand and the two play cat and mouse around ringside.

Northern Lights Supplex on the mats from Swagger. Yet more punishment to Orton’s back as the All American American drives him into the guard rail and then the apron.

Swagger is controlling this match completely at the minute, targeting Orton’s shoulder, which Michael Cole assures us has had it’s problems in the past.

Swagger has grabbed the World Heavyweight Championship, but can’t connect with Orton.

Orton briefly battles back but Swagger puts him down again.

Swagger takes WAY too long setting up for a Splash in the corner and gets the World Heavyweight Gold driven into his ribs as he descends.

Orton’s back in control now and setting up for the Rope-Assisted DDT, but Swagger reverses it and dumps Orton over the ropes and to the outside.

And here come the tinfoil trash cans! Swagger drags one out from under the ring but Orton snatches it off him and buckles it around the champs head.

Swagger’s in trouble now, Orton just bounced his head off the announce table, whipped him into the steps and curb-stomped his head into the steel.

Back in the ring now and Orton sets up to drop a big Knee… but Swagger moves!

Swagger tries to bring a Steel Chair into the ring but gets caught with a Rope Assisted DDT!

Orton starts to set up for the RKO, the crowd are going absolutely crazy.

Change of heart for The Viper it seems as he stops in his tracks and sets the chair up in the middle of the ring.

Orton goes for the RKO on the chair but Swagger counters and drops Randy right on the steel!

    Gutwrench Powerbomb! 1..2..3!

Jack Swagger has retained the title and probably just solidified his place in the top tier of the WWE right now.

After the match Orton scored with the RKO on the outside of the ring.

Not the most amazing match given how good the Extreme Rules stipulation could have made it, but not a bad bout either.

Jack Swagger retains the World Heavyweight Championship by Pinfall.

    Segment 3

    Game On!

Sheamus hit the ring and demanded the referee declare him the victor as Triple H is unable to compete.

Todd Grisham appeared on the titantron and began to confirm that Triple H wouldn’t be able to fight, but The Game burst out from the medical room and staggered to the ring for the match.

    Match 4

    Street Fight
    Triple H
    Vs.
    Sheamus

Triple H has hit the ring all guns blazing, controlling the first five or so minutes without letting Sheamus hit any sort of offence at all.

However, the damage sustained earlier showed as The Game went for the Pedigree and couldn’t hook the second arm, allowing Sheamus to escape and gain the upper hand now.

This match isn’t really making the most of it’s stipulation either, other than a few minutes on the outside in the early going, this may as well have been a singles match thus far.

Sheamus grabs a couple of 2 counts after dishing out some punishment, although each time Triple H kicks out the pasty faced Irishman gets even more frustrated.

Rear Chin Lock applied by Sheamus, but he’s no Dolph Ziggler in the Submission stakes and Triple H battles out.

Neckbreaker on the outside! Triple H is really in trouble now, he’d better hope there’s a Sledgehammer knocking about somewhere.

DDT from The Game! But Triple H seems to have come off worse, rolling around and holding his neck after the impact.

A Big Backbreaker and a Powerslam from Sheamus both grab 2 counts, further infuriating the Fighting Irishman.

Sheamus has gone back to that devastating steel pipe, but even a brutal shot to the head can’t keep Triple H down for the 1..2..3!

Sheamus is setting up for the Celtic Cross, the crowd don’t like it one bit.

Triple H escapes and flips Sheamus over the top rope, allllll the way to the outside.

Apparently Sheamus is now calling his Celtic Cross ‘Pale Justice’. Someone must have realised Finlay was already using ‘Celtic Cross’, although it more accurately describes what Sheamus does.

Triple H takes a Kendo Stick from Sheamus and swings away with it, marking his pale back and chest with huge red welts.

Triple H is going for the Pedigree on the ramp! But Sheamus counters with a Backflip, dropping The Game on his already injured neck.

Pump Kick! That could be it for Triple H here.

And another in the ring! Triple H drags himself to the corner, leaving a look of Shock on Sheamus’ face.

Triple H defiantly directs a 1 handed Crotch-Chop towards Sheamus, who hits another two Pump Kicks before covering for the 1..2..3.

I’d have liked to see Sheamus get a cleaner victory over Triple H here, I can’t remember him getting a BIG win without there being some sort of controversy surrounding it.

After the match Triple H refused to let EMT’s strap him to a stretcher, choosing to hobble up the ramp with the help of four people instead, only to taste a fifth and final Pump Kick when he got to the top.

    Sheamus wins by Pinfall.

    Segment 4

    Edge Interviewed

Backstage Josh Mathews asked Edge what his mindset is going into the Cage Match later tonight.

He says that there’s no way he’ll let Jericho escape the cage and he won’t even try to escape himself.

    Match 5

WWE Womens Championship Extreme Makeover Match
    Michelle McCool (c) (w/Layla & Vickie Guerrero)
    Vs.
    Beth Phoenix

A match between Beth and Michelle doesn’t sound too bad, but the fact that Vickie, and a selection of household items and makeup are at ringside really makes me think it’s just going to be one big joke.

Beth dominated the early going but Michelle just blasted her in the face with some hairspray, before driving an ironing board down into her midsection.

Michelle’s locked in a Body Scissors, so I’m going to grab a drink.

Bit of a botch job here, Vickie just slid an iron into the ring for Michelle to use, but then kept hold of the chord so when she swung it, it snapped back out of her hands.

At least I think it was botched, if it was intentional, it didn’t make sense.

Beth Phoenix is in control now after a an interjection from Vickie and Layla went wrong, and the pair ended up getting a blast of hairspray themselves.

This match kind of reminds me of the Good Housekeeping match between Jeff Jarratt and Chyna all those years ago, except that was a damn good match and this has been god awful.

Beth went for a Superplex onto some ironing boards, but Vickie and Layla knocked her off the ropes with… a mop and a broom.

    Glam Slam! 1..2..3!

We’ve got a NEW Women’s Champion ladies and gentlemen!

Beth Phoenix wins by Pinfall and becomes the NEW WWE Womens Champion.

    Segment 5

    Jericho Interviewed

Josh Mathews asked Jericho if his unexpected loss to a Rookie on NXT will affect him in his match tonight.

Jericho says that one loss doesn’t make him any less of a big game player and tonight he’ll end his rivalry with Edge once and for all.

    Match 6

    Cage Match
    Edge
    Vs.
    Chris Jericho

Jericho seemed reluctant to enter the cage at the start of this match, grabbing a chair instead and briefly brawling with Edge on the outside.

Once both men entered the cage and the match started Jericho instantly made a bee-line for the far corner in an attempt to escape, which still seems to be his tactic as he just tried the same thing again, with similarly unsuccessful results.

Edge goes for a Spear into the cage but Jericho sidesteps it and lets his opponent fly shoulder first into the steel before following up with a Springboard Dropkick and a guillotine under the bottom rope.

Jericho has pretty effectively kept control of the match nearly all the way through here, and once again dashes up the cage in an attempt to escape, but Edge prevents him doing it at the cost of his own body.

Jericho has the Walls of Jericho locked in! Will Edge tap?!

He crawls to the bottom rope, but there’s no DQ so the referee can’t break the hold!

Edge counters out and hits the Edge-o-Matic to grab a 2 count, real back and forth action now, although I’d have to say Jericho has had the better of it so far.

Jericho is down in the corner, the crowd are calling for the Spear….

Edge goes for it, but Jericho ducks out and tries to crawl out of the door!

Edge stops him momentarily but he grabs the chair, which distracts The Rated R Superstar long enough for him to slam the door in his face.

Jericho is heading out of the door and down the steel steps! He has it won.

No, he’s turned around and climbed back into the ring.

Picking up the steel chair, Jericho starts to stalk Edge…

Spear! Out of nowhere! 1..2.. Jericho kicks out!

CodeBreaker! But Jericho takes an age to cover and Edge kicks out at 2 and a half.

I thought this was over with the Spear, but now Jericho seems to be in the slightly better position as he climbs the cage.

Jericho is on the top and Edge hasn’t even rallied yet!

All Jericho has to do is drop, but Edge has made it to the top rope and is dragging Jericho back inside.

The two battle on the top rope and Edge comes off the worse, straddling the ropes.

Jericho is all but out! But Edge has got Jericho’s arm through the steel girder at the top of the cage.

Now Edge is up there too and the pair are slugging it out atop the steel cage!

Both men have climbed back into the ring now…

Springboard CodeBreaker! Holy hell what a CodeBreaker! Edge was sitting on the top rope when Jericho flew off the other set of ropes!

Jericho couldn’t capitalise but now he’s got the steel chair again, he swings for the Achillies, but Edge moves and goes on the offensive!

Edge bounces Jericho off all four walls, but Jericho once again tries to duck out over the top of the cage.

Both men are once again brawling on the top rope, Edge gets the advantage and sends Jericho to the canvas…

Jericho is crawling for the door, and strangely enough Edge is telling him to leave.

Edge cuts him off, then slams the door around Jericho’s Achilles!

Edge is toying with him now, and Chris is begging him for mercy… Stomp to the ankle!

The crowd know what’s coming now….

    SPEAR! 1..2..3.

Have to say I prefer cage matches where escape is the only way of winning, but I’m nit-picking, this was a good bout.

I hope this is the last time the two of them meet for a while, as I think this rivalry has now run it’s excellent course.

    Edge wins by Pinfall.

    Main Event Match

WWE Championship Last Man Standing Match
    John Cena (c)
    Vs.
    Batista

I’m not quite sure if Michael Cole just gave something away, or if he’s just made one of his nonsensical comments that he’s prone to coming out with.

He said ‘well, there’s still lots to come tonight, including this next match which is for the WWE Championship.’

As far as I’m aware this is the last match on the card, so unless something special is pencilled in that we don’t know about, I think I’d have to go with the latter assumption.

While the introductions are going on here I’ll deliver the third and final Informant’s Cheap Shot:

Word behind the scenes is that Batista won’t be gracing the WWE ring for much longer, as The Animal hopes to pursue a career in Hollywood in the not-to-distant future.

With only a fraction of The Rock’s personality and delivery skills, I expect that if he does leave, we’ll see his triumphant return to the Squared Circle within two years.

Remember, you heard it here first!

    -The Informant

If you want to keep upto date with all the goings on here at WWEBlog why not ‘like’ us on Facebook! Click Here to find us and follow us!

The fans are all over Cena in the early going here, the ‘Cena Sucks’ chants are deafening and have drawn the generic ‘no one evokes a more passionate reaction from the WWE Universe than John Cena’ response from Michael Cole already.

Batista has targeted Cena’s ‘injured knee’ thus far, scoring a couple of 7 counts within the first 10 minutes of the match.

Cena finally breaks The Animal’s dominant flow, reversing an Irish whip into the Steel Steps.

Wooo! Batista locks in the Figure 4 and the crowd go crazy!

Cena attempts to break free of the hold before rolling over and reversing the pressure, leaving both men down.

After a double count of six both men got to their feet, only to knock each other down with a Double Clothesline for a 7 count.

    Cena’s building momentum now… Shoulder Blocks> Backdrop> 5 Knuckle Shuffle!

The crowd boo and Batista rolls to the outside, where he grabs a spare turnbuckle and clocks Cena with it.

Batista brings a chair into the ring but Cena catches him…

Attitude Adjustment on the Steel Chair!

Batista drags himself back to his feet at a count of 9 and pushes the official into the ropes, sending Cena tumbling from the turnbuckle that he had just climbed.

    Spear from Batista!

The ref gets to a count of 8 but Cena gets up, only to be clattered with ANOTHER Spear!

1..2..3..4..5..6..7..8..Cena pulls himself up the rope and gets to his feet.

Batista just grabbed a table from under the ring, things might be about to get messy!

Batista sets it up in the corner, then kicks Cena through it after the Champion reversed him.

Cena avoids the loss only by rolling to the outside, where Batista wastes no time in hunting him down and slamming him into the ring post and then the guard rail surrounding the timekeepers area.

The barricade exploded into 10 or 2o pieces, but once again Cena was able to answer the 10 count… just.

Batista sets up some steps next to the announce table and looks to hit the Batista Bomb from the steps through the table, but Cena counters it and hits the Attitude Adjustment!

1..2..3..4..5..6..7..8..9.. Wow! Batista makes it to his feet! Unbelievable!

Cole and Striker are bickering, meanwhile Cena has set up a table in the ring, what next?

Cena goes for the Attitude Adjustment but Batista reverses it and hits an almighty Spinebuster through the wood!

Both men are down and the ref is up to a 6. Batista makes it to his feet and so does Cena at a count of 8.

Batista looks furious and sets up for a Batista Bomb… hits it!

1..2..3..4..5..6..7..8..9.. Cena makes it up AGAIN!

Batista has some steel steps in the ring now, but Cena’s locked in the STF!

Batista’s tapping, but it doesn’t mean anything!

The Animal is fading here, he looks to be out cold, the referee is counting…

    1..2..3..4..5..6..7..8..9.. he drags himself up.

Cena wraps Batista around the ring post and duct tapes his feet together!

There’s no possible way Batista can get to his feet in this position!

The referee is counting! Batista is trying to free his feet, but he can’t do it!

10! The ref has counted to 10, it’s all over.

Boy, that was an embarrassing loss for Batista, and not really in the spirit of the match type, but a win is a win I guess.

I have to say I can’t blame Batista for wanting to head into films, this was pretty disrespectful and in my opinion quite damaging for his character.

John Cena retains the WWE Championship.

    The End Bit

Well, there you have it folks.

Neither World title changed hands, Punk didn’t get his head shaved and Beth Phoenix won the Womens Championship in one of the most farcical matches of 2010 so far.
