Extreme Rules 2010 Lite Results!
Segment 1
Impromptu Start
Sheamus Vs. Triple H was meant to be the first match on the card, but the Celtic Warrior put The Game out of action backstage, allowing ShowMiz to take up the airtime spouting about how good they are.
Teddy long ruined the party and booked them against three consecutive teams, with the stipulation that if any of the challengers get a pinfall, they would get a future tag titles shot.
WWE Unified Tag Team Championships #1 Contendership Match
Tag Team Gauntlet Match
ShowMiz
Vs.
R-Truth & John Morrison / T.W.S.T.T / The Hart Dynasty
Truth and Morrison AND The Worlds Strongest Tag Team both fell victim to ShowMiz but The Hart Dynasty capitalised on earlier punishment and earned themselves a shot at the titles tomorrow on Raw.
Result: The Hart Dynasty win by Pinfall.
Segment 2
The Smug Warrior
Backstage Todd Grisham tried to find out how Triple H is but only ended up bumping into Sheamus, who said he’d be coming to the ring later and would win either by forfeit or by beating the hell out of The Game.
Grudge Match
Singles Match
C.M Punk
Vs.
Rey Mysterio
Brilliant match to kick off the ‘proper’ card.
Mysterio looked to be closing in on a win until a ‘Mystery Man’ (that looked a lot like Skip Sheffield) emerged from under the ring and assisted Punk to a well deserved victory.
Result: C.M Punk keeps hold of his hair after a little help from an unknown assailant.
Grudge Match
Strap Match
Shad Gaspard
Vs.
JTG
This was about as bad as expected, filled with inconsistent rulings and a clichéd ending.
The best thing about it was the fact that it ended relatively quickly.
Result: JTG won by sneakily tagging the turnbuckles behind his opponents back.
Segment 3
Game Over?
Todd Grisham confirms that Triple H is hurt and probably won’t compete tonight… yeah, right.
World Heavyweight Championship Match
Extreme Rules Match
Jack Swagger (c)
Vs.
Randy Orton
Not a bad match, but one that didn’t make the most of the stipulation placed on it.
Orton looked like picking up the win until he got carried away trying to hurt the champ.
Result: Swagger won by Pinfall after reversing the RKO and hitting a Gutwrench Powerbomb.
Segment 3
Game On!
Sheamus came to the ring hoping to win the match by forfeit, but Triple H emerged from the medical room against doctors orders and headed to the ring to compete.
Grudge Match
Street Fight
Triple H
Vs.
Sheamus
Sheamus devastated an already injured Triple H, landing a total of 5 Pump Kicks before all was said and done.
Result: Sheamus picked up the Pinfall but only after a very valiant fight from Triple H.
Segment 4
Edge Interviewed
Edge talked up his cage match with Jericho, saying he won’t even try to escape.
WWE Womens Championship Match
Extreme Makeover Match
Michelle McCool (c)
Vs.
Beth Phoenix
This match involved ironing boards, brooms and mops. I dare say I could have been better entertained using them to iron, sweep and mop rather than watching this.
On the plus side Beth finally beat Michelle.
Result: Beth Phoenix won the Womens Championship by Pinfall.
Segment 5
Jericho Interviewed
Josh Mathews upset the former World Heavyweight Champion, asking him about his loss on NXT.
Jericho vowed that his rivalry with Edge will be ended tonight.
Grudge Match
Cage Match
Edge
Vs.
Chris Jericho
Edge eventually won a gruelling cage match that saw devastation to both men’s Achilles tendons.
Jericho had a chance to win it, but decided to inflict more damage to Edge, which ultimately cost him dear.
Result: Edge scored the 1..2..3 with a Spear.
WWE Championship Match
Last Man Standing Match
John Cena (c)
Vs.
Batista
Cena and Batista beat the hell out of each other to no avail and it took a ring-post and a roll of duct tape to rather embarrassingly settle this match in John Cena’s favour.
Result: John Cena retains his title as Batista is unable to answer a 10 count.
