Extreme Rules 2010 Confirmed Matches & Mini Preview

Find out what matches are currently scheduled to take place at Extreme Rules 2010.
Grudge Match
Strap Match
Shad Gaspard
Vs.
JTG
Recently Shad Gaspard decided it was time to branch out on his own, blaming his ‘Partner in Cryme’ for their dismal run in the tag division over the past few years.
Shad has ritually beaten the hell out of his former friend for the past few weeks which has led to an official match at Extreme Rules.
A strap match seems to favour the taller and stronger Superstars so Shad should be a shoe-in for the win, but JTG has shown over his time in the WWE that he is crafty enough to come up with a way to win against the odds.
Grudge Match
Singles Match
C.M Punk
Vs.
Rey Mysterio
When Rey Mysterio and C.M Punk met at WrestleMania it was Rey Rey’s lifestyle on the line, as he battled to stay out of the Straight Edge Society’s grasp.
This time it’s Punk who has to put something on the line; his hair.
Punk believes that his hair is a sign of his dedication to the Straight Edge lifestyle, never being touched by the impurities of drink or drugs.
Just days before Extreme Rules Mysterio claimed a lock of Punk’s hair, and with a minor dispute rumbling on between the ‘First Disciple’ Luke Gallows and Punk’s NXT Rookie Luke Gallows, it might be said that things are looking bleak for The Straight Edge Salvation going into the only singles match on the card.
Grudge Match
Cage Match
Edge
Vs.
Chris Jericho
Jericho and Edge put on a blockbuster match at WrestleMania with the self-proclaimed Face of Smackdown cheating his way to victory.
However, things turned sour for the World Champion moments after the match when Edge Speared him from the announce table, then got even worse a week later when Jack Swagger cashed in his Money in the Bank to snatch the belt from under his nose.
Jericho and Edge threw away the opportunity to become #1 contender the following week, getting counted out as their emotions took over and they ended up brawling in the crowd.
At Extreme Rules the pair will meet inside a steel cage, where running simply won’t be an option.
Grudge Match
Street Fight
Triple H
Vs.
Sheamus
When Triple H delivered a Pedigree to Sheamus in the Elimination Chamber and covered him for the 1..2..3, little did he know he would be letting himself in for weeks of bad mouthing and sneak attacks courtesy of The Celtic Warrior.
At WrestleMania Sheamus hoped to make a name for himself by knocking off arguably the biggest name on Raw, but unfortunately for the pasty Irishman his plan didn’t quite succeed and although he made a valiant effort, Triple H left Arizona with the victory.
Now at Extreme Rules the pair will meet in a brutal Street Fight, which Sheamus claims is his speciality. However, Triple H is no stranger to the stipulation and ruling him out would be a bad idea.
World Heavyweight Championship Match
Extreme Rules Match
Jack Swagger (c)
Vs.
Randy Orton
Less than a month after cashing in his Money in the Bank contract and successfully swiping the World Heavyweight Championship from Chris Jericho, Jack Swagger faces his first real test in an Extreme Rules match against Randy Orton.
An Extreme Rules Match (or Hardcore match for the older members of the WWE Universe) can be one of the most brutal bouts contested in the WWE ring.
However, with the current PG-13 rating placed on WWE broadcasts it’s unlikely this match will involve anything more gory than the tin-foil garbage cans, Kendo sticks and possibly a table or two.
Swagger has slowly begun to show his main event calibre, but the threat Randy Orton poses in such a hostile environment can’t be ignored.
WWE Championship Match
Last Man Standing Match
John Cena (c)
Vs.
Batista
Leading up to WrestleMania all the talk around the WWE Championship match focused on how John Cena couldn’t beat Batista.
Now he finally has defeated The Animal, the goalposts have shifted and now all the talk is about how Cena can’t beat Batista… when Submissions don’t count.
The WWE Creative team have waited years to have Batista and Cena in a long-running feud, but now they’ve finally seized the chance there doesn’t seem to be a lot of substance to it.
Batista looks like the favourite, but with rumours circulating that the WWE’s Golden Boy John Cena will be heading to Smackdown in the Draft, leaving the gold on him would add more shock value when the move is finally announced.
