    The Bash 2009 Live Coverage!

Hello and welcome to The Bash! I hope you’re as excited as we are for tonight’s event and if you want to get in touch with us tonight drop an email to Jayd@wweblog.co.uk.

    Lets get on with it!

    Opening Match

    ECW Championship Scramble
    Christian
    Vs.
    Tommy Dreamer (c)
    Vs.
    Mark Henry
    Vs.
    Jack Swagger
    Vs.
    Finlay

I didn’t expect this match to kick things off but I have high hopes for it. Matt Striker just explained the rules briefly and it seems I was mistaken, a new superstar will enter every 3 minutes, not 5 as I had previously stated.

Jack Swagger and Christian kick this one off and things are under-way. Neither man is really gaining the upper hand here, although there is some good wrestling.

Finlay enters the fray and immediately makes an impact, taking out both men and getting a near fall on Christian.

Pinfall! Jack Swagger has pinned Finlay after targeting the eye and holds the ECW Championship, momentarily at least.

Tommy Dreamer enters just moments after technically losing the championship.

Pinfall! Celtic Cross from Finlay on Jack Swagger. The Fighting Irishman is the current champion.

Mark Henry enters the fray and with 5 minutes left can someone stop Finlay from winning the title?

Pinfall! Yes is the answer, for now at least as Mark Henry lands a Worlds Strongest Slam on Dreamer to take the driving seat in this match.

Dreamer lands a big Cannonball from the apron on Swagger before Christian springboards over the top rope and takes him out. Henry starts to ascend the turnbuckle but Swagger prevents him from doing so.

Pinfall! Swagger pins the current champ after knocking him from the turnbuckle. 2 minutes left!

KillSwitch! Christian grabs a near fall but Dreamer breaks it up.

Pinfall! Dreamer hits Christian with the Dreamer DDT and gets his title back just a minute before the end of the match.

Everyone is in the ring now and a pinfall doesn’t look likely, as everything is being broken up before it hits 3. The match ends in a melee in the centre of the ring and Dreamer somehow retains his title.

I certainly didn’t see this coming but it was a great match none the less.

Tommy Dreamer wins and retains the ECW Championship.

    Segment 1

    Edge and Long

Backstage Edge walks into Teddy Long’s office and tells him if he wants to save his job he should put him in the Heavyweight Championship Match tonight.

Teddy informs him that there has already been a triple threat and Edge lost.

Edge counters that he pinned the number one contender on Smackdown but Long has none of it and says if he wanted to be on the PPV so bad he shouldn’t have kicked Vickie to the curb.

Edge tells him if he doesn’t reconsider he’ll find himself in the same position as his soon to be ex wife, out of a job.

    Match 2

Intercontinental Championship Mask Vs. Title Match
    Rey Mysterio
    Vs.
    Chris Jericho (c)

Jericho has started this match in a very aggressive manner, beating Mysterio down and swinging him head first into the guard rail.

Mysterio has made it back into the ring at a count of 7 and Jericho goes back on the offence straight away, catapulting him into the bottom rope then hitting a perfect standing supplex.

Jericho, as he has done a number of times in recent weeks, goes to peel off Mysterio’s mask but fails when Rey knocks him from the top rope. Mysterio doesn’t have the upper hand very long and Jericho is back in control.

Mysterio finally hits some offence, but it doesn’t last long. Jericho again in control with a submission hold locked in on the mat. It looks like this match might be heading the way of the usual Mysterio match; Rey gets beaten down for 99% of the bout then comes back to score a win at the death.

Ooooh! Mysterio just jumped from the top rope to the outside to land a Seated Senton. Looks like it might have took something out of both men. Back in the ring Mysterio gets a near fall with a cross body.

Mysterio just hit a very impressive looking but completely botched Springboard Moonsault. He caught Jericho square in the side of the head with his knee, getting a long 2 count afterwards.

Jericho back in control again momentarily. I don’t believe it! Another slightly botched Moonsault from Mysterio that caught Jericho in the head with the knee.

Walls of Jericho is locked in! Rey is in the centre of the ring and looks close to tapping!

Rey managed to make it to the ropes and almost hit a reverse-619 but Jericho again takes charge with a massive clothesline and then a huge Powerbomb from the top rope.

Very near fall for Jericho following the Powerbomb which saw him use the ropes for leverage.

It looks a hell of a lot like Mysterio might have two masks on, I’d been thinking they might do a bit where Jericho ripped his mask off but he had another underneath, if it happens remember you heard it here first!

Massive midair Codebreaker! Mysterio somehow managed to kick out and Jericho can’t believe it. Neither can I.

619! Jericho reverses the Huricanrana into a Walls of Jericho but rey manages to roll through it.

Near fall fest! Jericho peels Mysterio’s mask off but he has another underneath! Damn I’m good!

    619! 1…2…3!

Mysterio has grabbed the win to regain his the I.C title and retain his mask. It looks like the end was slightly botched, as it seemed like Jericho should have removed the mask a little earlier in the match, but if that was the case they covered it very well and although it isn’t really the result I was hoping for, it is the one I expected.

    Great match.

Rey Mysterio wins by Pinfall and becomes the NEW Intercontinental Champion.

    Segment 2

    Jericho and Long

Backstage Jericho bursts into Teddy Long’s office and demands a re-match tonight as Mysterio had 2 masks on and that must be against some rule or another.

Long explains that soon he will have been a G.M for 5 years and he hasn’t got to that point by giving loud, obnoxious people exactly what they want, and Jericho should get out of his office.

Jericho accepts defeat but tells Teddy if he continues doing what he is doing he’ll struggle to make it to 5 years.

    Match 3

    No Disqualification Match
    Dolph Ziggler
    Vs.
    The Great Khali (w/Runjin Singh)

I’m really rooting for Ziggler here but it hasn’t started well for the new-age Mr. Perfect. So far Khali has knocked him about and has just thrown him from the top rope all the way to the outside. No count outs here so the action continues on the outside.

Khali just delivered a brutal chop…to the ringpost.

Ziggler takes advantage momentarily, focusing on Khali’s leg with a steel chair. Ziggler hits a Fameasser and scores a 2 count but Khali kicked out ‘with authority’.

Front Facelock from Ziggler but it’s quickly reversed by Khali who then begins to call for the Punjabi Plunge.

KANE! Kane is here! The Big Red Machine jumps into the ring and wears Khali out with the chair. After he leaves the ring Ziggler jumps back in and picks up the win.

Big win for Ziggler on his PPV début, with a little help from the returning Kane.

    Dolph Ziggler wins by Pinfall.

    Segment 3

    McMahon and Long

Backstage Vince walks in to Long’s office and says he was going to apologise for the way he acted on Smackdown as he was a little bit rash because of the whole Trump fiasco.

That was until he heard what Long said to Jericho earlier about being the longest running G.M and he realised that in 5 years he has achieved absolutely nothing.

Vince then cited examples of other G.M’s who have made a much bigger impact in a much shorter time-frame and confirmed that Long was still on probation, making fun of his little ‘Holla Holla Holla’ dance in the process.

    Match 4

    Unified Tag Team Championship Match
    Carlito & Primo
    Vs.
    Priceless

Priceless have yet another new theme tune, I liked the first one and I’d just warmed to the second version of it, now I have to get used to this version!

Before the match can get under way Teddy Long appears and informs everyone that this will now be a Triple Threat Tag Team Match. The third team being….

    Edge & Chris Jericho.

    Unified Tag Team Championship Match
    Carlito & Primo
    Vs.
    Priceless
    Vs.
    Edge & Chris Jericho

    Very interesting developments here.

So just to clarify, there are now teams on 3 of the 4 corners of the ring. Two men at once are legal and they can tag in either their own partner or either member of the inactive team.

The first team to score a pinfall are the winners and Unified Tag Team Champions.

It’s hard to look past Jericho and Edge for this one now as their inclusion seems completely pointless if they don’t win it.

So far Priceless and Carlito & Primo have done all they can to keep Edge and Jericho out of the action, grabbing quick tags on them every time they are able to get involved in the match.

Primo looked close to submitting to a very unique hold from Cody Rhodes but Edge jumped into the ring and broke it up before he had the chance.

Carlito gets the tag and finally lands some offence for the defending champions.

Illegal Codebreaker from Jericho on Primo to take him out of the action.

Carlito dumps Jericho out of the ring then hits a Backstabber on Rhodes but Edge got a blind tag just before hand!

Edge hits a Spear and covers Carlito who was still trying to work out why the referee wouldn’t count his cover on Rhodes.

Big impact here from Smackdown’s Edge and Jericho, who can’t have been in the match legally for longer than a minute or two!

Edge & Jericho win by pinfall and become the NEW Unified Tag Team Champions.

    Segment 4

    Legacy begin to Implode

Backstage Orton tells Priceless it doesn’t matter that they lost because it’s more important that they help him retain the WWE Championship against Triple H.

DiBiase explodes and says he didn’t join Legacy to just be Orton’s lackey and he deserves to be on top too before wishing Orton luck against Triple H storming off. Rhodes tells Orton to let him talk to him and the segment ends.

    Match 5

    Womens Championship Match
    Melina (c)
    Vs.
    Michelle McCool (w/Alicia Fox)

Michelle McCool has dominated this match so far, working on Melina’s ankle.

McCool has locked up Melina in a brutal looking submission but the current champion refused to tap and momentarily took control. However, the damaged ankle which McCool actually pinned between the ring post and the steel steps earlier gave out, allowing McCool enough time to recover.

Alicia Fox saves the match for McCool by putting her foot on the ropes after it looked like Melina might score a pinfall.

Faith Breaker! Michelle McCool is the first diva to have held both the Womens and Divas Championship belts.

Nothing special here and I actually expected more from these two. Hopefully they will meet again without the injured ankle angle and we’ll see what they are really capable of.

Michelle McCool wins by Pinfall and becomes the NEW Womens Champion.

    Match 6

    World Heavyweight Championship Match
    C.M Punk (c)
    Vs.
    Jeff Hardy

A little popularity contest goes on before the match and it becomes pretty obvious that the majority of the fans are supporting Hardy tonight.

It’s pretty slow going right now so I’ll take this opportunity to thank the people who are joining us right now and encourage you to get in touch and let us know what you’ve thought of the show (and our live results) so far.

You can email me at Jayd@wweblog.co.uk or alternatively you can use the Contact Us page, but either way we’d love to hear from you!

Things have certainly livened up now, with a lot of action taking place on the outside and both guys getting a taste of the unforgiving security wall.

Jeff only just managed to beat the count and get back into the ring although he is now in a bad way and Punk is firmly in control.

The advantage in this match has switched more times than I’ve been able to keep up with. Jeff hit a Twist of Fate but failed to hit the Swanton, then Punk landed a massive kick and very nearly hit the GTS.

Another Twist of Fate from Jeff and a Swanton but Punk was too close to the ropes and although the referee counted the pinfall he quickly reversed the decision and ordered that the match continue, correctly according to J.R.

    The match continues!

Punk caught an elbow to the eye and then ‘accidentally’ kicked the referee in the head while he was checking on him. It looked blatant to me and the crowds chants of ‘Bull$hit’ seem to indicate that they feel the same.

Jeff wins the match but unfortunately not the title.

After the match Hardy pursues Punk up the ramp and calls him on the ‘accidental’ kick before attacking and beating the hell out of him back in the ring.

A really interesting ending and a surprisingly entertaining match.

Jeff Hardy wins by Disqualification. Therefore C.M Punk is still the World Heavyweight Champion.

    Segment 5

    Carlito, Primo and Long

Yet another intrusion into Teddy Long’s office, this time from the former Unified Tag Team Champs; Carlito & Primo. They chew Teddy out for making a change to their match and he informs them he did what he needed to do to keep his job.

After that Orton is seen backstage trying unsuccessfully to get in touch with Rhodes to find out where he and DiBiase are.

    Match 7

    Singles Match
    John Cena
    Vs.
    The Miz

We’re into the final hour of the PPV now and as much as I hope The Miz can win this one, a part of me hopes that it’s a squash match for Cena so we can get right on to the 3 Stages of Hell match and let it have plenty of time to run.

The crowd seem to be generally booing throughout this match so far which is a little odd to say the least, although I think I sensed a slight cheer as The Miz finally took control and grabbed a 2 count.

Cena has taken control here, hitting the 5-Knuckle Shuffle and Attitude Adjustment. Finally he locks in the STF and makes The Miz tap out in a largely pointless match.

The fans were booing very loudly as Cena landed the Attitude Adjustment and as much as I hate to say it I hope The Miz gets his revenge at some point down the line.

    John Cena wins by Pinfall.

    Main Event Match

WWE Championship 3 Stages of Hell Match
    Randy Orton (c)
    Vs.
    Triple H
    First Bout: Standard Singles Match

Very long entrances from both guys, finally the match is under way and there is no sign of Priceless.

Triple H started strongly but Orton has now gained control, focusing on The Game’s perennially injured knee which seems to be bothering him quite a bit.

Triple H pulls a steel chair out of nowhere and drills Orton with it, costing himself the first fall but gaining the upper hand with multiple shots.

Randy Orton wins the first fall by Disqualification.

Second Bout: Falls Count Anywhere Match

This didn’t last anywhere near long enough! After whaling away on Orton with the steel chair, Triple H hit a Pedigree on the outside to grab a very quick victory and tie things up, it’s now going all the way!

Triple H wins the second fall by Pinfall.

    Third Bout: Stretch Match

Triple H almost rolled Orton over the line as quickly as he won the Falls Count Anywhere bout but Orton managed to jump off the stretcher and fight back, bringing things back to the ring and taking control.

Both men have been battling around the ringside area, Orton controlling most of the action before stripping the guard rail of its padding and using the solid metal frame to punish Triple H.

Orton tries to put Triple H on the stretcher but fails. Seconds later The Game is sent flying into the steel steps, which Orton then throws into the ring with clear bad intentions in mind.

Orton goes to crush Triple H with the steps but the veteran executes a drop toe hold, sending the current champ face first into the steel before picking them up and drilling him again.

The Game drags Orton onto the stretcher and wheels him to about the same place he had him before when he begins to stir. The two start to brawl on the stretcher which rolls back down the ramp and throws them off onto the steel.

Oh..My..God. Orton just used the stretcher as a platform to hit his trademark DDT on the steel ramp. Big impact but he failed to hit the Punt seconds later, instead kicking the stretcher and injuring his foot.

Triple H goes for a Pedigree but Orton back body drops him onto the stretcher and begins to wheel him slowly towards the top of the ramp. Triple H rolls off the stretcher and the two begin to fight again, this time at the very top of the ramp.

Orton begins to set up for the RKO but Triple H reverses it and sends him into the big video wall before hitting a massive Pedigree on the steel staging.

Triple H begins to load Orton onto the stretcher less than 3 ft away from the ‘finish line’! Can The Game do it?!

Cody Rhodes appears from the back and prevents Triple H from pushing the stretcher over the line. Triple H deals with Rhodes but just as he is about to win the match for the second time DiBiase appears and does the same thing.

After a 2 on 1 beating Priceless attempt to put Triple H on the stretcher but he begins to fight back.

Triple H breaks through the staging and pulls out a Sledgehammer! The Game takes out both members of Priceless but Orton strikes with a Low Blow before using the piece of staging to knock his opponent onto the stretcher.

Orton pulls Triple H over the line and wins the third bout, the match and retains his title belt.

Randy Orton wins the third fall.

After the bout Triple H crawls to his feet and strikes Orton in the head with the Sledgehammer, leaving him down and out at the top of the ramp as the show goes off the air.

Great match and a pretty good PPV all in all.

Randy Orton wins and retains the WWE Championship.
