    Survivor Series 2009 Live Results

Welcome once again to WWEBlog.co.uk’s live results for Survivor Series 2009!

I’ve not really been looking forward to tonight’s show all week. I’ve not been feeling my best and the card was a little uninspiring too.

However, now we’re here I can honestly say that I’m really looking forward to it, particularly the Traditional Survivor Series matches, and even more specifically Team Miz Vs. Team Morrison.

Also it won’t do me any harm to see Rey Mysterio get completely trounced as I assume he will do.

As always if you want to get in touch and perhaps even featured in the Live Results, drop me an email to jayd@wweblog.co.uk or use the Contact Us page and let us know what you’re thinking!

The opening video is just drawing to a close, so let’s get on with the show!

    Opening Match

    Five-On-Five Survivor Series Elimination Match
    Team Morrison
    John Morrison
    Matt Hardy
    Evan Bourne
    Shelton Benjamin
    Finlay
    Vs.
    Team Miz
    The Miz
    Drew McIntyre
    Sheamus
    Dolph Ziggler
    Jack Swagger

We have a three member commentary team again tonight, with The King, Michael Cole and Matt Striker coming together.

I’ve had very limited experience of writing up big matches such as this live, so I’ll apologise if I don’t get in as much detail as usual, but rest assured I’ll bring you all the biggest moments and most importantly; the eliminations.

Swagger and Bourne kick off the match in acknowledgement of their current rivalry, but it doesn’t take long for the All American American to tag in Dolph Ziggler who beats Bourne down and grabs a 2 count after the big elbow.

Swagger gets back in on the action and begins to ‘pick the bones’ as it were, before bringing Ziggler back into the ring.

Bourne finally battles back and grabs a very close near fall over Ziggler before tagging in Matt who hits the Side Effect, then returns the favour for a Shooting Star Press for the first elimination.

    Elimination : Dolph Ziggler.
    Team Miz 5 - 4  Team Morrison

The next elimination comes almost instantly, with Drew McIntyre pouncing on Bourne and eliminating him with the Double Underhook DDT.

    Elimination : Evan Bourne.
    Team Miz 4 - 4 Team Morrison

The eliminations are coming thick and fast here and after a little back and forth between the two Irishmen, Sheamus eliminates Finlay with the Pump Kick, giving Team Miz the upper hand once more.

    Elimination : Finlay.
    Team Miz 4 - 3 Team Morrison

After a long battle between Jack Swagger and Matt Hardy, Morrison gets into the match for the first time and begins to wear down Swagger.

Morrison goes for the Starship Pain, but The Miz distracts him from the apron. Morrison hits the Flying Chuck and covers, but Sheamus and The Miz break it up and all hell breaks loose, including a genuinely accidental ref bump.

Morrison finally hits the Starship pain and eliminates Jack Swagger to even the odds once again.

    Elimination : Jack Swagger.
    Team Miz 3 - 3 Team Morrison

It turns out the original referee (Mr. Armstrong) has suffered a possible concussion after taking a huge knee to the back of the head from Sheamus during the chaos earlier on.

After a very positive spell of offence Shelton Benjamin gets hit with a Skull Crushing Finale that ends his night at Survivor Series.

The heels have the advantage once more.

    Elimination : Shelton Benjamin.
    Team Miz 3 - 2 Team Morrison

The odds just got stacked well and truly in Team Miz’s favour, as Drew McIntyre bags his second elimination of the night, this time with a pinfall over Matt Hardy.

    Elimination : Matt Hardy.
    Team Miz 3 - 1 Team Morrison

McIntyre and Sheamus isolate Morrison (although there isn’t anyone for him to tag even if he did break free to his own corner) then The Miz tags in and begins to trash talk his former partner, which seemed to spur Morrison back into life.

Morrison hits a Wheel Kick but doesn’t get much time to recover before The Miz brings Sheamus into the action.

Again Morrison battles back, knocking both the illegal men from the apron, but Sheamus catches him with a Pump Kick as he goes for the Flying Chuck, then hits him with the Razors Edge to grab an elimination and seal the victory for his team.

    Elimination : John Morrison.
Team Miz win with 3 Surviving Members.

I really didn’t see this one coming. I thought for sure it was time for Morrison to level the score against his former partner.

I guess this shows just how much hope they have in Sheamus and McIntyre. I can’t help but feel for Ziggler just a little bit though.

The Miz, Sheamus & Drew McIntyre Survive to win the match.

    Segment 1

    Team Kofi Talk Tactics

Backstage Team Kofi are cooking up a strategy for tonight’s match, when Kofi notices that Christian doesn’t seem to be getting involved.

When asked what is wrong he says that it’s clear he’s different to all the rest of them.

The rest of the team reassure him and he then reveals that he was worried because he was the only person from ECW.

They all seem a little reluctant to explain what they thought and he asks if they thought he meant because he is Canadian.

Again they don’t reveal what they mean, and the conversation moves onto R-Truth’s rap ability.

Christian says that Canadians are also renowned for their rapping skills and after some persuasion, ’spits’ a rap about how he is the only white guy on the team.

Ah, so that’s what they were referring to, I honestly hadn’t noticed.

The team then bond and look ready for their match tonight.

    Match 2

    Singles Match
    Batista
    Vs.
    Rey Mysterio

I’m glad they are getting this match out of the way early.

I’ve got a distinct feeling it’s just going to follow exactly the same pattern as nearly every other Rey Mysterio match, but I guess we’ll see.

Hmm, I could be wrong, so far Mysterio has had the lions share of success, hitting Batista with three (Yes, three) 619’s to different parts of The Animal’s anatomy.

However, they don’t seem to have done much damage and after getting his knee’s up to avoid a Frogsplash, Batista hits a devastating Spear.

Interestingly, as Mysterio went to the top rope and emulated Eddie Guerrero, boo’s echoed around the arena.

Batista hits a Spinebuster and then a Batista Bomb, but doesn’t go for the cover.

Could this be where the Hold Harmless agreement comes into play?

Another Batista Bomb. I could be wrong, but I think the fans are chanting ‘One More Time’.

They get their wish as he hits a third and the referee calls for the bell, Batista wins as Rey is no longer able to carry on.

Kudos to the WWEBlog Informant, I had the pleasure of chatting to him earlier in the week and he predicted this outcome to the letter.

After the bell Batista grabbed a chair from ringside, but rather than hitting his former friend with it, he set it up along side him and sat down.

As the crowd chant Batista’s name (it IS his hometown after all) he gets up and drops the chair.

The crowd boo this decision, but The Animal isn’t finished yet and instead hits the Spinebuster onto the steel, drawing yet another ‘One More Time/Batista’ chant.

    Good stuff.

    Batista wins by TKO.

    Segment 2

    Team Orton Talk Tactics

Backstage Randy Orton tells his team that when he picked this team, he expected to be feeling better than he does right now.

He said that he expected to be standing next to the ECW Champion, the Straight Edge Champion and the two men he hand picked to stand by his side.

Punk takes offence at these comments and says that they didn’t expect to be teaming with a guy who got embarrassed by Kofi Kingston in the middle of MSG.

Legacy stand up for their leader, then Orton tells them all that they can set the record straight tonight with a victory.

    Match 3

    Five-On-Five Elimination Match
    Team Kingston
    Kofi Kingston
    MVP
    Mark Henry
    R-Truth
    Christian
    Vs.
    Team Orton
    Randy Orton
    Cody Rhodes
    Ted DiBiase
    CM Punk
    William Regal

I can’t believe they are putting the Divas Elimination match up last out of the three. If they put it after a title match (which I think there is a distinct possibility they will) I’ll lose yet more faith in the booking team.

We all like the Divas (don’t we?), and sure they deserve the same respect as the guys, but I seriously doubt their match will be as good as the opener or this one (or even the Batista/Mysterio match as much as I hate to admit it.)

Quick elimination to kick this match off!

After the referee became distracted Team Orton took advantage and double teamed Mark Henry, before Orton sealed the fate of the World’s Strongest Man with a RKO.

    Elimination : Mark Henry.
    Team Kingston 4 - 5 Team Orton

As with the first match, the second elimination came rather swiftly after the first.

C.M Punk gained a small measure of revenge over R-Truth, hitting him with the GTS to score the elimination.

    Elimination : R-Truth.
    Team Kingston 3 - 5 Team Orton

Things are looking bleak for Team Kingston.

Another elimination! This match is flying by.

Christian finally scores an elimination for Team Kingston, taking out Ted DiBiase with a roll-up.

I thought DiBiase was meant to be the WWE’s Golden Boy at the minute, I’m surprised to see him go out so quickly, and as the first member of Team Orton.

    Elimination : Ted DiBiase.
    Team Kingston 3 - 4 Team Orton

Another pretty hasty elimination as M.V.P gets the better of William Regal, scoring a pinfall before Cody Rhodes can break it up. We’re back to level terms now at 3 a piece.

    Elimination : William Regal.
    Team Kingston 3 - 3 Team Orton

After Cody Rhodes takes a beating from M.V.P and Christian he tags in Orton, who gets the upper hand over the ECW Champion.

Another tag to Cody swings the match back in the other direction, as M.V.P hits Ballin’ then goes for the Playmaker.

Rhodes avoids elimination thanks to a distraction from Orton, and seconds later strikes with Cross Rhodes to give his team the advantage once more.

    Elimination : M.V.P.
    Team Kingston 2 - 3 Team Orton

Instantly after the elimination Kofi goes for the roll-up, but Cody kicks out on a long 2.

Christian and Kofi begin tagging frequently, isolating Cody in their corner.

KillSwitch! 1..2..3. We’re level pegging again here.

    Elimination : Cody Rhodes.
    Team Kingston 2 - 2 Team Orton

Orton dives straight into the ring and takes control, but moments later Christian hits the KillSwitch! 1..2.. Punk breaks up the pinfall!

Christian just came incredibly close to an upset there.

    RKO! Christian is eliminated.

    Elimination : Christian.
    Team Kingston 1 - 2 Team Orton

Just as it looked like we were finally going to see Orton and Kofi go at it, The Viper tagged in C.M Punk.

Punk and Kofi are former tag champions (as Matt Striker was all too quick to point out) so there was a distinct tension as the two squared off.

They eventually began brawling and after Kingston barely avoided the GTS he hit the SOS, which came very close to scoring a pinfall and winning the battle of the acronyms.

After Punk kicked out he began to wear Kofi out, locking on a Sleeper with his legs then moving to a Body Scissors while Orton watched on from the outside.

Kofi broke free but Punk hit some ‘classic C.M Punk’ with the knee in the corner.

Kofi again battled back, reversing the Bulldog then scaling the corner to the top rope.

After a battle at the top Kingston hit a HUGE flying Cross Body that picked up a 2 count, but more importantly gave him a way back into the match.

As he set up for the Boom Drop Orton distracted his opposing team captain, allowing Punk to roll him up. However, Kingston rolled through it and grabbed the three!

    Elimination : C.M Punk.
    Team Kingston 1 - 1 Team Orton

Six seconds! That’s how long it took Kofi to defeat the last two members of Team Orton.

Kingston literally sprang forward out of the roll-up on Punk and struck with Trouble In Paradise, defeating Orton to claim the win for his team.

    Elimination : Randy Orton.
Team Kingston win with 1 Surviving Member

Great match and this win will really springboard Kofi. His performance against C.M Punk in particular was something to behold and there has to be something good in store for the Ghanaian Sensation somewhere down the line.

Kofi Kingston Survives to win the match.

    Match 4

Triple Threat World Heavyweight Championship Match
    The Undertaker (c)
    Vs.
    The Big Show
    Vs.
    Chris Jericho

Oh man, the crowd are going to be dead during the Divas bout after this one.

I understand splitting up the three Survivor Series style matches so the fans don’t get bored of them, but having arguably the worst one (I’ll reserve judgement until I’ve seen them all, the Diva’s match could surprise me totally) after what to me looks like the better of the two title matches just seems like suicide for the ladies.

Jeri-Show started the match on the same page, which was quite unexpected considering the end of the match a few days ago on Smackdown.

After dumping Taker into the timekeepers area with a Big Boot, Show hit a Knockout Punch to the midsection while Jericho held him up.

Then as Show kept The Deadman occupied, Jericho retrieved a microphone, which he then drove down into the head of the champion.

    Classic moment here which The King relayed for anyone who didn’t spot it the first time;

As Jericho dragged Taker back to the ring one of the fans near the front shouted ‘Go back to Toronto’, to which Jericho turned around and replied ‘I’m from Winnipeg, you idiot’ before carrying on with the match at hand.

Taker removes Show from the match momentarily, driving his head into the ring post. He can’t capitalise on the situation though, as Jericho reverses the Old School and hits a Superplex from the top, leaving both men down.

Interestingly, Matt Striker seems to be playing the heelish commentator role for this show, pulling for the heels in this match for at least the second time tonight.

Jericho locks in the Walls of Jericho on Taker! Just as it looks like The Deadman might be out, Show staggers back into the ring and delivers a Chokeslam to his tag team partner.

It looks like we’ve reached the point where it’s every man for himself!

Show goes to Chokeslam Taker, but he reverses it into a DDT, although it takes it out of both men and all three remain on the canvas.

Jericho is the first to stir and covers both men, with little success in both cases.

Taker and Show have a Chokeslam-off while Jericho goes and grabs the title belt. He swings it at Taker but inadvertently clocks Show, then tastes a Big Boot which gains the champion a 2 count.

Taker goes for the Last Ride but Jericho drills him with the belt which he still had in his grasp.

Jericho covers.. 1..2.. Kick out just before the referee’s hand hit for three.

Jericho covers again.. 1..2.. same story. He then replicates Taker’s cut-throat taunt and goes for a Tombstone, but Taker rolls through and looks to deliver one of his own.

Show interjects and hits Taker with the Knockout Punch, but Jericho breaks up the pinfall and goes for a cover of his own, giving Show the chance to return the favour.

Show reverses the CodeBreaker and… Knockout Punch!

Show begins to stalk Taker, then grasps his throat and begins to taunt as he sets up for the Chokeslam.

The Deadman clinches the arm and drops to his back, locking in a Hells Gate!

The 7ft Giant struggles for a while but has no option but to tap out.

The Undertaker retains the gold in a very entertaining Triple Threat!

Hopefully this won’t be the end of Jeri-Show.

The Undertaker retains the World Heavyweight Championship by Submission.

    Segment 3

    Team Miz Interviewed

Backstage Josh Mathews speaks to the surviving members of Team Miz from the opening match.

Miz tells him that tonight everyone witnessed just a tiny bit of the talent and success the three of them possess.

He says that at Bragging Rights he proved he had more talent than Morrison, and tonight he proved that he had better leadership skills.

McIntyre crows about how he was hand picked by Mr. McMahon then Sheamus said the only disappointment was how easy it was tonight.

He says that he’s had trouble finding decent competition since moving to Raw and tonight was no different, then mentions how he kicked Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler in the head last week.

Finally The Miz explained that his team won because… He’s The Miz…and he’s Awesome.

    Match 5

    Five-On-Five Elimination Match
    Team Mickie
    Mickie James
    Eve Torres
    Kelly Kelly
    Melina
    Gail Kim
    Vs.
    Team Michelle
    Michelle McCool
    Jillian Hall
    Beth Phoenix
    Layla
    Alicia Fox

In an attempt to make this match a little more interesting for you guys, I’ve given the elimination boxes a little touch up, and luckily I don’t have to wait long to use one:

    Elimination : Layla.
    Team Mickie 5 - 4 Team Michelle

Kelly Kelly got the pinfall, just in case you wanted to know.

Next up to be eliminated was Gail Kim, who fell pray to the Faith Breaker from Michelle.

    Elimination : Gail Kim.
    Team Mickie 4 - 4 Team Michelle

    Eve eliminated Jillian Hall next…

    Elimination : Jillian Hall.
    Team Mickie 4 - 3 Team Michelle

    …then Beth Phoenix eliminated her…

    Elimination : Eve.
    Team Mickie 3 - 3 Team Michelle

    …and Kelly Kelly…

    Elimination : Kelly Kelly.
    Team Mickie 2 - 3 Team Michelle

    …in quick succession.

    Phew.

After a little brawling Mickie James picked up her first elimination over Beth, who then delivered a big Clothesline before making her exit.

    Elimination : Beth Phoenix.
    Team Mickie 2 - 2 Team Michelle

The advantage swung once again as Mickie James grabbed her second elimination by pinning Alicia Fox.

    Elimination : Alicia Fox.
    Team Mickie 2 - 1 Team Michelle

Michelle jumped Mickie right after the pinfall, trying her best to bring this back to a one on one match and somehow keeping James isolated despite being the only member of her team still standing.

However, Mickie did eventually make the tag and Melina finally made an appearance in this match, battling it out with one of her longest running adversaries in Michelle.

Both women grabbed near falls throughout the brief altercation, but as Michelle set up the Faith Breaker Melina reversed it into the Sunset Flip Bomb and picked up the victory for Team Mickie.

    Elimination : Michelle McCool.
Team Mickie win with 2 Surviving Members

I’m quite surprised that the Divas Champion scored the pinfall over the Womens Champion.

This wasn’t awful, but as I predicted it was certainly the least entertaining of the three Traditional matches.

Mickie James & Melina Survive to win the match.

    Segment 4

    Batista Interviewed

A recorded interview from ‘moments ago’ is played, with Todd Grisham attempting to ask about tonight’s match.

Batista instead asks Grisham if he thought Mysterio was embarrassed tonight, then when he got no response said that he was embarrassed for him.

    Main Event Match

    Triple Threat WWE Championship Match
    John Cena (c)
    Vs.
    Triple H
    Vs.
    Shawn Michaels

A few interesting points for you at the start of this match:

    -DX entered as a team.

    -Cena got almost roundly booed.

-Cena has a new orange T-Shirt and sweatbands.

I’m not quite sure I believe what I’ve just seen.

The bell rang, and within the first three or four seconds of the match HBK hit Triple H with the Sweet Chin Music!

It looks like we’ve got a match on our hands here.

Michaels and Cena battle it out for a while, then the champion goes in for the kill, setting HBK up for the Attitude Adjustment.

Michaels has the wherewithal to reverse it into a DDT, which gains him a 2 count as the fans kick up a ‘Lets Go Cena/Cena Sucks’ chant battle.

Figure 4 locked in by Michaels, right in the centre of the ring!

Cena rolls through and reverses the pressure. Still no sign of Triple H.

It’s nice to see Michaels getting some ring time that doesn’t consist of him being beaten to a pulp before tagging in The Game.

Michaels hits a springboard over the top rope then strips down the announce table, planning on putting the champion through it.

Cena reverses and looks to use the table himself, but Triple H returns to make the save and Cena ends up in the timekeepers area.

Michaels turns round and… Spinebuster through the table from The Game!

    That looked absolutely brutal!

Triple H turns his attention to Cena, rolling him back in the ring and delivering yet another Spinebuster for a 2 count.

It seems it’s Triple H’s turn to go one on one with Cena now, as it’s been quite a while since the announce table crumbled, yet HBK is still laying prone at the commentary team’s feet.

Triple H goes for the Pedigree! Cena counters and slingshots The Game into the turnbuckle, but he explodes out of the corner and hits a Clothesline that grabs him a 2 count over the current champion.

A Slugfest results in Cena taking the upper hand, much to the dismay of the crowd. He hits the 5 Knuckle Shuffle and sets up for the Attitude Adjustment, but Michaels re-appears just in time to make the save.

DX face off against each other properly for the first time tonight, but Triple H pushes Michaels out of the way of a charging Cena, allowing the wily veteran to strike The Game with an Inverted Atomic Drop.

After some more back and forth Michaels pops up, only to be put back down with a Spinebuster.

Again Michaels fights back and heads to the top rope for the big Elbow, but Cena cuts him off and goes to another turnbuckle, attempting to go for the Leg Drop.

Triple H moves and Cena crashes and burns, allowing Michaels to land the Elbow on him instead.

STF on Triple H! Michaels has been dumped to the outside! Will The Game tap?

Triple H can’t get to the rope but HBK returns to the ring and locks the champ in a Crossface.

Cena is eventually able to battle out of the Crossface right into position for an Attitude Adjustment, but doesn’t have enough left to hit it.

STF on Shawn Michaels now! He somehow manages to get to the ropes and the match continues.

Sweet Chin Music to Cena! Sweet Chin Music to Triple H!

HBK falls from the ring and The Game lands on top of Cena! The referee hasn’t noticed and the fans are imploring him to turn around.

1..2.. Cena kicks out! Wow, this is actually a lot better than I expected it to be.

The ‘Lets Go Cena/Cena Sucks’ chants reach an all time high as the champ hits an Attitude Adjustment on Triple H, then collapses.

HBK crawls back in from the outside and both begin to head towards Triple H’s prone body.

Both men get an arm over The Game, but he kicks out, sparing us all the controversy of who would have been champion.

Michaels goes for the Sweet Chin Music, Cena reverses it.

Triple H goes for the Spinebuster, Michaels reverses it.

Michaels goes for a Piledriver, Triple H reverses it and throws him right onto Cena’s shoulders.

Cena goes for the Attitude Adjustment but Triple H prevents it and goes for the Pedigree.

Michaels prevents that and hits his partner with Sweet Chin Music.

Cena hits Michaels with the Attitude Adjustment, right onto Triple H, who he then covers to retain the title.

Phew, that was fast and furious right there at the end of the match.

I think at the end of the day that was probably the right result, although I’d have loved to see the gold on Triple H or Michaels, preferably Michaels.

John Cena retains the WWE Championship by Pinfall.

    The End Bit

Thanks for joining us tonight everyone.

To say it didn’t look that special on paper, Survivor Series 2009 actually turned out to be pretty darn good.

It’ll be interesting to see what direction both championships are taken in now, as I have an inkling DX will now take on Jeri-Show for the tag titles, leaving Cena and Taker to move on to something else.

As always, let us know what you thought of the show and our coverage by using the Contact Us page.

Goodnight everybody, I’ll see you tomorrow night at the special Thanksgiving 3 hour Raw extravaganza.
