Survivor Series 2009′Lite’ Results
Traditional “Survivor Series” Match
Five-On-Five Elimination Match
Team Morrison
John Morrison
Matt Hardy
Evan Bourne
Shelton Benjamin
Finlay
Vs.
Team Miz
The Miz
Drew McIntyre
Sheamus
Dolph Ziggler
Jack Swagger
A great opener although Dolph Ziggler didn’t get anywhere near enough ring time. Still, I suppose someone has to be eliminated first.
Result: The Miz, Sheamus & Drew McIntyre survive to win the match for Team Miz.
Segment 1
Team Kofi Talk Tactics
Team Kofi talk tactics backstage and allude to the fact that Christian is the only white member of the team.
Did it border on slightly racist? Hmm, possibly just a little.
Grudge Match
Singles Match
Batista
Vs.
Rey Mysterio
Mysterio got in some good offence but none of it seemed to even dent The Animal’s armour.
Batista won the match after 3 Batista Bombs, then Spinebustered Rey down onto a Steel Chair, leaving him to the EMT’s.
Result: Batista claims a victory by TKO.
Segment 2
Team Orton Talk Tactics
This time it’s Orton’s turn to fire up his team mates.
He insults them all then tells them they can set the record straight tonight with a victory.
Traditional “Survivor Series” Match
Five-On-Five Elimination Match
Team Kingston
Kofi Kingston
MVP
Mark Henry
R-Truth
Christian
Vs.
Team Orton
Randy Orton
Cody Rhodes
Ted DiBiase
CM Punk
William Regal
A great battle with rapid eliminations, leaving time for Kingston and Punk to demonstrate what they can do.
Kingston defeated 2 World Champions in the space of 6 seconds, and surely must be getting close to the title picture with his current run of form.
Result: Kofi Kingston survives to win the match for his team.
World Heavyweight Championship Match
Triple Threat Match
The Undertaker (c)
Vs.
The Big Show
Vs.
Chris Jericho
A very well contested triple threat that saw Jeri-show work together and take each other apart, however it was The Deadman that eventually beat the odds and walked away with the gold.
Result: The Undertaker keeps hold of his World Heavyweight Championship, making The Big Show tap out to a Hells Gate.
Segment 3
Team Miz Interviewed
Backstage the surviving members of Team Miz crow about how good they are.
Apparently they won because he’s The Miz and he’s Awesome.
Traditional “Survivor Series” Match
Five-On-Five Elimination Match
Team Mickie
Mickie James
Eve Torres
Kelly Kelly
Melina
Gail Kim
Vs.
Team Michelle
Michelle McCool
Jillian Hall
Beth Phoenix
Layla
Alicia Fox
This match was full of quick eliminations. Beth Phoenix stood out for me, despite only being in the ring for a very short period of time, she was pushed yet again with two successive eliminations in under a minute.
Result: Mickie James and Melina survived to get the win, with Melina pinning Michelle McCool at the climax.
Segment 4
Batista Interviewed
Batista said he was embarrassed for Rey Mysterio after the match tonight.
That was it, seriously.
WWE Championship Match
Triple Threat Match
John Cena (c)
Vs.
Triple H
Vs.
Shawn Michaels
This match was actually a lot better than I’d expected it would be.
HBK drilled Triple H with a Sweet Chin Music just a couple of seconds into the match, creating an ‘every man for himself’ situation that ran through the whole match.
Cena eventually picked up the win in a spotfest, as the crowd booed and chanted ‘Cena Sucks’.
Result: Cena retained the gold with an Attitude Adjustment to HBK, before covering Triple H who had tasted Sweet Chin Music seconds before.
