Prior to the start of the Rumble event there were 21 participants confirmed:

- Chris Jericho
- Triple H
- Rey Mysterio
- Kofi Kingston
- Randy Orton
- The Undertaker
- Kane
- R-Truth
- ‘The’ Brian Kendrick
- Carlito
- Big Show
- Shelton Benjamin
- Vladimir Kozlov
- The Miz
- John Morrison
- Cody Rhodes
- Ted DiBiase
- Santino Marella
No entry numbers were confirmed before the event and 9 more participants were revealed on the night.
Thanks to Peter Forrest who informed me that Wrestleview.com claimed Khali and Chavo were also confirmed for the Rumble, although it was not confirmed on WWE.Com. Khali did participate in the Rumble match, however Chavo did not.
