Hell in a Cell 2009 Confirmed Matches & Mini-Preview

Find out what matches are currently scheduled to take place at Hell in a Cell 2009.
The following matches have been confirmed for Hell in a Cell on the 4th October at the Prudential Centre in Newark, New Jersey.
Intercontinental Championship Match
Singles Match
Dolph Ziggler
Vs.
John Morrison (c)
This match was originally billed as the third PPV bout between Ziggler and Mysterio, where many had tipped the cocky young up and comer to finally pick up his first piece of singles gold.
However, due to Rey falling foul of the WWE Wellness Policy and subsequently being banned for 30 days, he dropped the belt to John Morrison in a Match of the Year candidate just 9 days before Breaking Point.
Although initially scheduled to appear on Breaking Point, this match was bumped just a few days before hand and replaced with a United States Championship match, due to the lack of time Morrison and Ziggler had to build up some hype.
So now just under a month later the two will meet at Hell in a Cell, in what should be a fantastic match between two up and coming young Superstars.
United States Championship Match
Triple Threat Match
The Miz
Vs.
Kofi Kingston (c)
Vs.
Jack Swagger
Despite failing to win the United States Championship at Breaking Point, The Miz still felt he deserved to be champion.
So much so that he jumped Kingston the following night on Raw and stole the title belt from the rightful champion.
Kingston regained the strap by jumping The Miz during a backstage interview, but the cocky young challenger refused to let it go and again attempted to steal it during Jack Swagger’s shot at the gold.
Swagger prevented this from happening and instead stole the title for himself, once again leaving the champion without his coveted belt.
Just 6 days before Hell in a Cell Kofi was able to take his title back, but will he he able to keep hold of it at the Pay Per View?
Unified Tag Team Championship Match
Tag Team Match
Chris Jericho & The Big Show (c)
Vs.
Batista & Rey Mysterio
Once again Jeri-Show kept hold of the tag team belts at Breaking Point, narrowly defeating Mark Henry and M.V.P.
Since then the tag champs have had a busy schedule, both continuing this rivalry on Raw and building up a new one with the returning Batista on Smackdown.
So far Batista holds victories over both members of the tag team champions and after revealing that his tag team partner is to be the returning Rey Mysterio, many are tipping them to take the belts at Hell in a Cell.
Can Jeri-Show finally get a win over The Animal? Or will the returning Rey Mysterio pick up gold just days after returning from suspension.
Divas Championship Match
Divas Match
Mickey James (c)
Vs.
Alicia Fox
Alicia Fox will attempt to take the title away from Mickey James after beating Gail Kim to become the #1 Contender.
Since moving from ECW in the 2009 Supplemental Roster Draft Alicia has gone from being a bubbly, fun loving dancer to a cold hearted and vicious member of Raw’s Diva Roster.
James may find herself fighting a numbers game at Hell in a Cell, as wherever Fox has been Rosa Mendes hasn’t been far behind recently and will no doubt accompany her friend to the ring.
Throw in a bitter Glamazon who also has title aspirations and there’s every chance this match could have a twist or two in store.
ECW Championship Match
Singles Match
Christian (c)
Vs.
TBA
The ECW Championship match is yet to be announced.
Grudge Match
Tag Team Hell in a Cell Match
D Generation X
Vs.
Legacy
The WWE Universe were collectively thrown into a stunned silence at Breaking Point, as Shawn Michaels finally tapped out at the conclusion of a brutal Submissions Count Anywhere match that saw all four Superstars brawl throughout the arena.
Since then the cocky 3rd generation Legacy members have told anyone who would listen about this monumental victory, claiming to be the very future of sports entertainment.
However, DX haven’t taken the loss laying down and the two will once again meet this time inside Hell in a Cell.
Shawn Michaels claimed victory in the very first Hell in a Cell match and Triple H has claimed enough victories inside the demonic structure over the last 10 years to make them firm favourites, but if they were to lose it wouldn’t be the first time Legacy pulled off a surprise victory.

WWE Championship Match
Hell in a Cell Match
Randy Orton
Vs.
John Cena (c)
Cena and Orton may have faced each other more times than Rey Mysterio has pulled off underdog victories, but this will be the first time the two have officially wrestled inside the Hell in a Cell structure.
Cena took the title in a gruelling I Quit match which Orton dominated, then just 6 days before the re-match once again got the upper hand, hitting the Attitude Adjustment on top of the Cell at the conclusion of a 3 on 1 gauntlet match.
Cena may seem like the favourite to retain the title, but Orton has been quick to point out that he is the one who has experience in this type of match and that could be the deciding factor in what is likely to be a close contest.
World Heavyweight Championship Match
Hell in a Cell Match
C.M Punk (c)
Vs.
The Undertaker
Things really aren’t looking too good for C.M Punk right now.
After retaining the World Heavyweight Championship in very dubious circumstances at Breaking Point, it seemed like Punk might have the weight of G.M Teddy Long and even someone higher up watching out for him.
However, after Long took a trip to hell in the back of his limo and emerged from a casket the following week, things began to take a turn for the worse for the Straight Edge Champion.
Long not only made Undertaker’s deadly finisher; ‘Hells Gate’ legal again, but booked them to face off for the title at Hell in a Cell, in a Hell in a Cell.
The Cell is often refereed to as Taker’s ‘playground’, although Punk has thus far managed to outfox The Deadman and will likely have something up his sleeve to swing things in his favour.
