    Extreme Rules 2009 Confirmed Matches

WWE Extreme Rules 2009 ⓒ World Wrestling Entertainment

Find out what matches are currently scheduled to take place at Extreme Rules 2009.

    Grudge Match

    Samoan Strap Match
    C.M Punk
    Vs.
    Umaga

Since making his return on Smackdown a few months back the Samoan Bulldozer has taken it upon himself to attack C.M Punk at every opportunity.

When they met at Judgement Day Punk lost in his home town, so there is no doubt the straight edge Superstar will be looking for revenge , although with the stipulation favouring the Samoan so strongly he may find it difficult to achieve.

    Miss WrestleMania Match

    Hog Pen Match
    Vickie Guerrero
    Vs.
    Santina Marella

Since Santina won the Miss WrestleMania Diva Battle Royal speculation has been rife as to whether she was ‘qualified’ for the title. Numerous attempts by Beth Phoenix, Chavo and Vickie Guerrero at exposing Santina have failed, although Vickie did take the title of Miss WrestleMania with some help from her nephew and William Regal.

The esteemed title will once again be on the line at Extreme Rules in a ‘Hog Pen’ Match chosen by Santina’s brother Santino and although no one is quite sure of the rules, when all is said and done we will have an undisputed Miss WrestleMania!

    ECW Championship Match

    Triple Threat Hardcore Rules Match
    Christian (c)
    Vs.
    Jack Swagger
    Vs.
    Tommy Dreamer

Jack Swagger gets a third bite of the cherry at Extreme Rules although the big talking point surrounding this match is the career of Tommy Dreamer. The ECW Original vowed to retire if he had not won the ECW Championship come the end of his contract (6th June 2009).

Although technically out of a contract come Extreme Rules, Interim General Manager Tiffany has persuaded Dreamer to sign a 1 day extension in order to take part in this match as he looked likely to pick up the title from Christian in a match on ECW but was prevented from doing so by the outside interference of Jack Swagger.

All three men have scores to settle in this match but this is literally the last chance saloon for Dreamer and it seems fitting that the stipulation favours him so strongly, meaning he either returns to the top of the ECW tree or he goes out exactly how he would want to; beaten, bloodied and proud.

    Grudge Match

    Submission Match
    John Cena
    Vs.
    The Big Show

Having Chokeslammed Cena through a spotlight at Backlash and cost him the World Heavyweight Championship, The Big Show shouldn’t be surprised that he has become somewhat of a marked man.

Despite Cena gaining a certain amount of revenge at Judgement Day by pinning the giant, it was clear that he was troubled by the fact he physically couldn’t lock in the STF.

Cena wasn’t the only one to notice this and after consulting his on/off lover and Raw G.M Vickie Guerrero, The Big Show now has the chance to even the score (or go ahead depending on how you are looking at it) in a Submission Match at Extreme Rules.

    Intercontinental Championship Match

    No Holds Barred Match
    Rey Mysterio (c)
    Vs.
    Chris Jericho

Although Mysterio said he would rather put his Intercontinental title belt on the line against the young and hungry competitors on Smackdown he is once again defending the gold against the loud mouthed, paranoid egomaniac; Chris Jericho.

Last time they met Jericho guaranteed he would not be hit by the 619, something he failed to deliver on. This time he has not only guaranteed he will leave Extreme Rules as the champion but that he will also unmask Mysterio and reveal his face to the WWE Universe.

Will Jericho once again fail to deliver or will Mysterio lose more than just his title belt?

    World Heavyweight Championship Match

    Ladder Match
    Edge (c)
    Vs.
    Jeff Hardy

Almost 10 years ago Edge (& Christian) and Jeff (& Matt) put on an unbelievable show in the first ever tag team ladder match at No Mercy.

Now at Extreme Rules the World Heavyweight Championship will be suspended above the ring and two of the men who revolutionised the ladder match will go at it one more time to prove who truly is the best between them.

Will the ultimate opportunist have one more trick up his sleeve to retain the title or will Jeff prove that winning the belt at Survivor Series last year was no fluke?

    WWE Championship Match

    Steel Cage Match
    Randy Orton (c)
    Vs.
    Batista

At Judgement Day Batista had one hand on the WWE Championship, only for Orton to get himself intentionally disqualified and retain the gold on a technicality.

At Extreme Rules there will be literally no escape for Orton as the match will be contested inside the confines of a steel cage with only 3 ways to win; Pinfall, Submission or by scaling the cage.

The other members of Legacy will no doubt play a part in the outcome although with schedules in Australia hinting at a return, ‘The Game’ may be up for Orton and his crew at Extreme Rules.

    Card as of 31/05/2009.
Please note card is subject to change.
