TLC 2009 Lite Results!
ECW Championship Match
Ladder Match
Christian (c)
Vs.
Shelton Benjamin
Fantastic opening match as we expected it to be.
Christian accidentally busted his face open on a ladder early on, but it didn’t detract from the match which he eventually won after Breaking Benjamin (pardon the pun) through a ladder.
Result: Christian retains the gold by climbing the ladder and unhooking the title.
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
Singles Match
John Morrison (c)
Vs.
Drew McIntyre
A surprisingly good match here which saw The Chosen One; Drew McIntyre put his name on the map with an impressive, if underhanded, victory.
Result: Drew McIntyre wins with the Scotch Drop after a thumb to the eye behind the referee’s back.
Segment 1
The Prodigy Delivers
Drew McIntyre explains that he isn’t surprised that he won gold so quickly.
Sheamus walks in on the interview and says his IC title win was impressive, but he’s going to trump it with a WWE Championship win later tonight
Divas Championship Match
Divas Match
Michelle McCool (c) (w/ Layla)
Vs.
Mickie James
A thoroughly dull match ends with Michelle retaining the title after an assist from Layla.
Layla took an accidental boot to the face from her friend for her troubles, but even that couldn’t inject any excitement into this impromptu match.
Result: Michelle McCool retains the Divas Championship with a Big Boot and a 3 count.
WWE Championship Match
Tables Match
John Cena (c)
Vs.
Sheamus
In what could go down as the biggest shock since WWE took over WCW, Sheamus picked up the gold here and became the first non-U.S born champion since Yokozuna.
There wasn’t that much physicality involved in Cena going through the table, something they will no doubt make a meal of in the coming weeks.
Result: Sheamus claims the WWE Championship by sort of throwing Cena through a table.
World Heavyweight Championship Match
Chair Match
The Undertaker (c)
Vs.
Batista
This went backwards and forwards like nobody’s business and after a Low Blow/Chair Shot combo it looked like the gold would be leaving with The Animal.
However Teddy Long ordered the match be restarted and Taker wasted no time from then on in dispatching his challenger and holding onto his gold.
Result: The Undertaker picked up the win with a Pinfall after a Tombstone.
Segment 2
Sidekicks?
Orton’s lackeys delivered a message from their leader to Kofi Kingston just prior to their match, but Kofi called them sidekicks and instead confronted Orton in his dressing room, calling him a coward.
Grudge Match
Singles Match
Randy Orton
Vs.
Kofi Kingston
Another solid bout which saw the high spot of the night.
Kingston also seemed to pick up a storyline injury to his arm after blocking a Punt, although whether it will pan out into anything serious is anyone’s guess.
Result: Randy Orton wins the match with an RKO.
Segment 3
The Animal Complains
Batista blames Teddy Long for his loss and tells him to make things right, threatening him with a steel chair.
WWE Unified Tag Team Championship Match
TLC Match
Jeri-Show (c)
Vs.
D-Generation X
It wasn’t the match of the night by any stretch, but it was a very good main event to wrap up a great PPV.
Show destroyed pretty much every ladder in sight, meaning DX had to work together in order to grab the title belts.
Result: DX claim their first tag gold from Jeri-Show.
